    Kitty Hope this works

Well, I have RA and need to lose weight. So far I have lost 15 pounds since 1-19-09
I had a lap band for 3 years and because of the immune problems I had it taken out.

I pray every day for strength
This is the first weekend I have cheated(cause of a 10 plateau)
So back on the band wagon tomorrow

Hello kstepnitz glad to have you aboard. I too have an immune problem, it is MS.. I know the frustration your feeling. The program works when you work the program.. Each day when i find myself wanting to cheat, i have to have a talk with me.. Most of the time, when i eat something i think i just got to have, after i have it, it was not that good anyway, and def not worth breaking my will power for. But i do this to myself all the time.. That is why i can here, a support goup.. I need this more then anyone knows.. so just jump right in and tell us your great days, as well as your bad days.. the emotional rollercoster we all ride from time to time. Sheila

    Welcome, Kathy.

Quick bit of advice: when you're LC, forget about tomorrow. You eat offplan, okay, you made a choice. But you're making it harder on yourself giving your good judgement the rest of the day off. Stop it!

The best time to get back on the wagon after a slip, m'dear: now. Also, cheating doesn't reslove plateaus (at least the way most people want them resolved).

Hi Kathy. I've been away for a few weeks. Got panicked about low carbing and went back to a vegetarian diet. Only this time it didn't work out like the vegan doctor's promise it will in their diet books. This time I developed hypoglycemia and had dizzy spells so severe I almost fell down the stairs in the middle of the night. It took me a while to figure out what was going on but I finally made the connection. As soon as I went back to low carbing I felt 100% better. The dizzy spells disappeared immediately. Blood sugar/insulin problems are nothing to mess around with. If low or high blood sugar can cause symptoms like I just experienced I can't help but wonder how it effects many other conditions, even ones as complicated as RA or MS. I was timid about this low carb thing when I first came to this website, but now I'm a firm believer that this is the only way to go. I won't mess around with other diet plans ever again. I hope everyone with a carbohydrate sensitivity has a similar experience as mine, because then it will be clear to them what they need to do to regain their health... and sanity. Good luck with your diet Kathy.
