Sheila, I just started Atkins and stayed with it, so I can't give you any comparitive observations. For what its worth, I did not find Atkins difficult. I am the kind of person that plans, so it was easy for me to plan my meals to meet the Atkins parameters. It became easier and easier to plan as I got the knowledge of carb counts of various foods. There are lots of good recipes that are suitable for induction. One of the things I did when I started was do a lot of on-line low carb recipe searching so I would have a lot of variety and not feel I had to eat the same boring things every day. I planned, and still do, my meals on a weekly basis so I don't have to worry about what I will eat each day to stay on plan. I find it is one way to reduce any stress about what I will or can eat.

Some people even meld the 2 plans together, taking the best of both. Personally, I started with Atkins, way back in the 70s, and it's the father of all low carb plans, and the most popular, but Protein Power has some good points, too.

I recommend reading both books thoroughly, then make your decision according to what suits your needs and wants now.

HTH!

I did PP a few months ago and really liked it, but was not losing on it. I switched to Atkins but that hasn't worked for me either really. I've lost some inches and only a total of 3 lbs. since 1/1 (ticker weight bounced back up 3 lbs. and I just haven't changed it yet).

I'm thinking of doing the original Atkins to see if that helps. If not, I may go back to PP just because I like the fact you can tailor it to what you like to eat keeping within the protein/carb limits. I love eating lc, and I'm hoping at some point it'll work for me.

If you decide to do PP I hope you'll stay here and we PP together if I go back to it.

We could be PP buds!

I'm still debating .. but really should go back to PP. I really like the little added freedom PP gives. I hung around a PP forum but got conflicting things on what people were eating. Some things I thought were no-no's were okay and vice versa. I think most suggestions come from what works or don't work for individuals.

So .. I would really like to know what is a typical menu for you and how you approach PP in the foods you choose.

I hope we can figure it all out, too!

Hello Lavender, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.. I would love to be PP buddies.. My sweety has been home sick for two days and i have been tending to him.. He is going to be home again tomorrow but does feel better. Yes i have a problem with some of the things it says you can eat, but with PP you only dont go over a certain amount of carbs.. depending on your Lbm.. and how much fat you have.. I have to eat alot of protein.. i try to not eat over 5 or 6 carbs at each meal but it said in the book that there is no reason to go any lower then 10 , or no higher then ten for the first couple of weeks. after you see how much you can have with out stalling then you can add more .. I am not there yet for sure.. I am just trying to get the hang of it, then start trying to eat more purley. you know right now i am eating pork skins, as i love them.. but they are high in sodium , not good. i should eat chicken or roast for a snack but i eat tuna and pork skins or cheese and pork skins, well any way i need to figure out a lot more.. but we can do this together.. so lets get busy ... sheila

Hi Sheila! I decided to post back to you in my journal .. didn't want to totally hijack your introduction thread! You'll find my journal there, it's got my name in it, although right now I can't remember what I called it!
