Butterfly desperate to lose

Long story short, I have done atkins since I was a chunky teenager & lost 30 lbs(now 32) . After my now 6 yr old it helped me drop 100 lbs & again after my now 2 yr old I dropped 85 lbs in 8 months. But some where in the last year I have let my eating habits slip & gradualy have packed on about 40 lbs. I have a love /hate relationship w/low carbing... I know its the only thing that works well & fast for me, but Im not a fan of the restrictions or the food. So I stick w/it even though Im not loving it.

Hi Erin,
Welcome to LCE!

Have you thought about some other LC plans that aren't quite as restrictive?
Like Protein Power, The Zone, or perhaps South Beach?

LC doesn't work very well if you do it for 6 months, then go back to your *pre LC* eating ways, yanno? I, for one, found that out the hard way.
The best thing I could tell you is, you have to move into the mindset that LC(which ever plan you decide on), becomes your WOE/WOL and not just a *diet*.

Should you decide to try another LC plan, get the book, read and understand what the plan does for you.
Establish your plan, add in exercise, and you'll be on your way to healthy eating and weight loss, I betcha!

Good luck on your LC lifestyle!
hth

Welcome Erin! I think you have to prepare yourself mentally to start any diet or eating plan. For myself, I found the low carb one the least restrictive. I know everyone refers to it as the most restrictive, but for me it has allowed me to not go hungry at all. I know you said you have lost before on it and that shows it works for you. Maybe you need to examine what caused you to not like it? Then try to work around those issues? Maybe a journal would help.

Welcome!

Personally, I've never found low carb to be restrictive. There are just too many foods available to us, a wonderful variety, that you can eat a different combination of foods every meal for days and not have a repeat. Or, some of us are happy to eat the same old thing day after day, without changing our menu.

As Shelley says, there are other plans out there you might want to try, see if you're happier with them. Protein Power is a good one, many people follow it.

Wishing you success in hanging in there!

Thank you for the welcome & advice. I do, do this diet b/c it does work. The only thing thats hard for me on this diet is my weakness... chocolate (& from time to time a few other sweets) I think I will keep a journal, so I don't miss a thing I put into my mouth. Also if I feel the need to cheat & say "I'll start again tommorrow"... I can always come to the board w/my moment of weakness or read other blogs. I'll tell ya one thing, I felt better & motivated this morning when setting my account/profile. : )

Erin- Welcome.

I'll be frank with you - if you go back and forth between LC and not LC, you're wasting your time.Your best bet is to find ways to work how you eat into your everyday life.

If you miss sweets, then I'd suggest checking out recipes - on this site, cookbooks, wherever you can find them. Finding LC alternatives to your favorites will make all the difference.

Good luck.
