I have my husband doing LC as well, but I dont think he wants to be doing this. Is it possible for him to do his way of eating and for me to do mine? I just find it easier if we eat the same foods, he is just very unhappy on this, this time around. Any advice would gladly be helpful for me, I dont want him miserable, but I dont want to be fat anymore! Well, I am glad to be here, anxious to get to know my way around the board! Thanks!Michele |

| Hi Michele! I live with my folks, who don't low carb. We've found a balance by just adding a starch to the meal for them. They're typical meat/starch/veg at every meal, with a side salad, so that works out pretty good - I just make sure that meat part is on plan and don't eat the starch. Plus, they're very supportive of what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. They've found that it's not some crazy diet, and that the food is really good, and not so different from what they have been eating. Additionally, I keep some things in the freezer that I can eat if they want something for dinner that I don't eat - right now there's a leftover stuffed pepper, a couple of containers of beef vegetable soup and some turkey burgers. I also get plain fish fillets that are pre-frozen individually, and I marinate chicken breast then freeze in small quantities. Sit down and have a discussion with him about this being the best way for you to be eating now, and that you will feel better, healthier, and more energetic if you eat this way and lose some weight. Try a LC cookbook or three to help you prepare meals that both of you will enjoy (George Stella and Dana Carpender ones are great). It's definately a doable situation. My boyfriend (who I don't see often because I live in another state while I'm finishing college) is also going to have to adjust. I'm a great baker, and when I do see him, I always bring a bunch of baked goods (because I don't get to do it often) and cook really great meals. Baking is obviously out right now LOL but I am sure I can come up with some great meals that are also low carb. Although I love him as he is, he really should be losing some weight as well, so ideally, it's something we can do together, especially when I move up there next year. Good luck! | Wow! My husband cringes when lc lurks its skinny self in our household. Fortunately for both of us he doesn't mind salads and most vegetables and like Sue I have goodies in the freezer for me when he absolutely most have chicken enchiladas for dinner with mexican rice. It works, but I do miss the cookies. |

| My husband isn't intentionally on low carbs. He eats what I fix and usually likes it. I add potaotes, beets, carrots, breads or desserts to his meals. I Don't make too much if I think I might be tempted. Though I am usually quite satisified with what I have. What is definitely in my favor since he is a big eater is that he really likes the way I look now and would not want to do anything to ruin my low carb plan. Plus he knows it is much more healthier to eat this way. I am trying to get rid of the bad carbs for him just so he is healthier. He won't complain as long as it is good (and there's a lot of it!). He has no weight issues as he is VERY active. katlupe |

| Welcome, Michele. I approached LC with non LCers similarly to what's been suggested here = adding some of their favorites to my LC meals. That's a lot more managable than making two seperate meals. I also focused on the stuff that was least tempting for me. With some creativity, I'm certain you can work it out. The other thing I found was that, after a while, even the "nonbelievers" in the house wanted some of what I was getting from LC: losing weight, feeling great, and still eating plenty of good food. Some time goes on, his attitude may change.
