I suggest snacking on drumsticks, hardboiled eggs, olives, homemade meatballs, tuna/chicken salad, celery with peanut butter, cottage cheese and low glycemic fruit, cucumber with cream cheese, mozz. sticks or left overs. Mini meals are good because they are more satisfying and keep you full.

Use caution when snacking on cheese or nuts cause its easy to over do it on the portions. I have sen it one too many times. These foods contain carbs and before you know it, carb creep is overwhelming and you do not realize it happened! Make sure these foods are pre-portioned and that you stick to the allowed quantity.

Good luck!

What fruits do you think are best? Also, don't you have to watch the cottage cheese portions? Thanks!

What plan did you end up with, Lady? Your snacks at any given time will be somewhat dependent on the plan you choose. For example, if you choose Atkins, fruit and cottage cheese would be out for induction, but you could add them in during the OWL phase.

Yes, when I worked with Atkins, he allowed 3-4 oz. of cottage cheese and no fruit during Induction.

However, in my practice and my book I allow both. My plan is more flexible based on research showing that people can be in ketosis as long as they stay under 50 grams of carbs.

Therefore you wouls be able to choose a low glycemic fruit or an approved bread. The fruit would be a small apple, peach, pear, 1/2 grapefruit...

So, how are you doing with the plan you chose and have you had any of the symptoms we spoke of before?

So Lady, you never really answered what plan you are doing. Is it Atkins? It makes it much easier for us to give you consistent advice and support if we know which plan you're following.

Why are you watching cholesterol? Unless you are watching low carb should drop cholesterol like a hot potato. Did I just say that?

I'm just commenting cause, if you are starting a new diet regimen I always like to try to keep things simple and not get too overburdened/complicated.

those off weekends are so often the cause of troubles for folks*. stayig on track, especially early on, usually works better than lots of fudging.

*the rump region does not know what day of the week it is.

Opps, sorry didn't mean cholesterol. Cutting out sugars and trying to keep at a low carb count. Nice intake of dietary fiber though.

Haven't really picked one. Just watching carbs, sugar and calories. Planning on starting a work routine next week.
