Hi Janice,
to LCE!
Probably the most popular of the LC plans is Atkins. There are others, and basically, I'd just recommend that you do some research online, or go to your local library, and read up on a few of the plans to see which one best suits you.
LC shouldn't be confusing, and that's one reason to get the book for the plan that you choose. I reference my book(s) often, and I've been doing LC since 2003.

Best wishes on your journey to healthy eating, BS control, and weight loss!
Keep us posted on how you're doing, OK?

Welcome, Janice.

To start, I generally recommend two books that were very helpful to me. The Atkins Diabetes Revolution and Bernstein's Diabetes Diet.

Hope you'll make yourself at home here.

heartcard Re: new start to LC

Hi Everyone,
Well, I've been low carbing for a lot of years. I always tell people that I'm allergic to carbs, I break out in fat!

For me I have found that even if I have a piece of fruit, mainly apples, it just seems to wake up the carb cravings in me. If I stick to a fairly rigid low carb way of eating and not really too much variety, I do much better. I have read in the past that studies have shown that for some reason, if you put too much variety in what you eat, your body starts to crave a lot of different foods. If you stick to basically eating a lot of the same things, you're more under control. I know it sounds boring, but you only live once and I want to live thin, which I've been doing for a long time now. Good luck to everyone!

Welcome Janice! I ditto what Maggie and Shelley have said! You HAVE to get one of the books. My favorite is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. (DANDR) Whichever book you decide on, it will give you a roadmap to follow. You can't know where you're going if you don't have a map, eh? So, I would start with that. Also, check out the recipe link at the top of the page. Arm yourself with good recipes to follow. Get rid of the BAD junk from your pantry so it's not there to tempt you. Fill your frig and cabinets with healthy foods only. Allow yourself a healthy snack a couple of times a day. LCing is NOT about starving oneself. This is NOT a starvation diet. So, read up, post often and don't be a stranger here. We're here to help!

Again, welcome!

Welcome Janice & Victoria! Good for you getting your book ordered. I'd be lost without mine.
