Flower New at This!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Paula -- and I was told about this place from a sister friend of mine...
I am married to a wonderful man as of May 23,2009..And it's due to his health problems , that I am willing to do whatever I have to to change things for the better.....
I am a Nurse-- but unfortunately-- this is one of those topics I wasn't educated about during my training-- they left that up to the dietians to worry about. So, all of this is totally new to me. I am really the Newbie....
The motivation with me-- I am a newly wed. Since my wedding -- my husband has become a brittle diabetic-severe highs and lows with his blood sugar, and has been hospitalized with congestive heart failure...... It has scared me-- so I'm willing to clean my cupboards....
I live in Yellville, Arkansas -- am 55 years old. And have a puppy named Missy...... It's nice being here
Paula

Paula. It is important that you educate yourself about the low/controlled carb way of eating, especially as it pertains to diabetes. There are a couple of books you might want to consider to begin your education; The Atkins Diabetes Revolution and The Diabetes Diet by Bernstein. Good luck.

Hi Paula! Welcome aboard! I would suggest you get the above books that Henry mentioned. It's a good idea to educate yourself on the subject and know the body chemistry behind this lifestyle. Being a nurse, I know you will understand it very easily and it should make a lot of sense to you. It can only help.

Welcome Paula! It is good thing you found this site. It sounds like some scary stuff you are going through with your new husband. Like the others said, the best thing to do is to educate yourself on low carbs and diabetes.
