Default Newbie On Board

Hi Everybody,

I just came across this site this morning, while following a link from the StellaStyle site. I was researching the One Minute Muffins, and can't wait to give them a try.

When I say I'm a newbie, it's not just to this site. I'm a former Weight Watcher who managed to lose 60 pounds, and then re-gain it after losing many old friends on 9-11. Motivation had been nowhere, until a couple of weeks ago, I bought one of George Stella's books for my Kindle reader. . It was a revelation, that's for sure. To my mind, low carb meant no carb (as in the old, original Atkins plan), that that was just out!! Boy have things changed.

So, I've been doing it StellaStyle for just over a week now, and I'm down about 7 pounds, and eating better than I did before. I do think a mild case of carb flu struck last weekend, but once that passed, I'm feeling better, and more energetic than I have in years.

Okay, I think I've probably bored you all into a stupor by now, so all I'll say is I'm glad to have found this site.

Howdy, Anne. Delighted to have you.

So sorry to hear about the friends you lost...tragedy like that has a way of turning everything upside down.

But glad you're at a place to start taking care of yourself. And isn't George Stella great? I love his recipes and show. His New York ricotta cheesecake is one of my absolute favorite desserts.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Thanks for the warm welcome Goddess,

I'm sitting her laughing. That cheesecake was one of the first recipes I tried, and it was wiped out in two (maybe three) days, and I live alone. That cheesecake and the Southern Fried Chicken could be dangerous, so I think I'm going to have to limit how often I do those. I'm not counting carbs or anything, but am just taking George's advice and eating until I'm satisfied, and that's working out well so far. But I am (subliminally??) becoming more aware of portion sizes without even trying, so I'm thinking that stuff like that should be on my "you can have it whenever you want" list, but maybe it's better to not have it every day!!

So far, I haven't found even one of his recipes that I don't like, and I think that (along with how fast and easy they are to prepare) is what's got me so gung ho this time. I really think this carboholic is on her way to weight loss and better health.

Again, thanks for the welcome. I've spent the better part of today on here........there's so much great and helpful information.

Anne

Ann!! I'm glad you found this site. I also use George Stella's recipe for cranberry relish. It is a nice side dish at the Holidays, or any other time of the year. I even use it on the hot breakfast cereal (Maggie's cereal) I eat frequently for a nice variation.
