176! Down 20 lbs!
I am doing a modified Fat Fast. This is day 3, I might try to do 2 more days.

i'm glad it's going down, again, tammi. i know you're happy about it!

i do hope you don't opt to do the fat fast variation very long...i understand why, 'cause i've so been there, man, but i also worry...the more restrictive your eating practices, the easier it is for your body to get run down and for that ol' friend, mr. metabolism to start poking down. you know? it's hard on you. and in the big picture, it's forever you want to take care of. so you have all the time you need.

maybe you could consider moving on when you feel stabilized, and opting to drop those carb bars instead? those are a very common cause of trouble for lots of people...more people can manage the shakes than the bars, but either for some have been known to stop losses in their tracks.

i'm not trying to tell you what to do, mind you. but perhaps help you think of long term alternatives, eh?

Thanks Goddess, I can definitely see how the metabolism can go down with the fat fast. I had no energy at all and I was really grouchy. I ended up doing it for 4 days. I think, though, that it works as a good stall breaker. It jump started my losing again. I may do it again in the future, probably for only 3 days though.

Heather- It is where you go for 3-5 days eating high fat and low carb/low calories.

Basically Atkins said to use it for those who are metabolically resistant to losing weight doing LC.

The menu is very specific
macadamia nuts
tuna w/ lots of mayo on avocado
deviled eggs
cream cheese
(and some other things I can't remember)

You eat 5 times a day in 200 calorie intervals.

Yep, the FatFast is in Atkins' book. He also advises that the FatFast can be dangerous for people who are not metabolically resistant. Most of your calories are coming from fats-hence the name. You can find the specifics in DANDR.

Tammi, I'm glad you're feeling better with your direction now and are back to eating "normal LC." That won't make you grouchy unless you were already predisposed.

Take care!

Tammi - some of my favorite things on that menu! But anything gets boring when repeated enough. TGIF!!! Have a good weekend!

It's been a while since I posted. I am still at 176. This is after recently having surgery. I have been wanting to have a breast reduction surgery, for basically my entire adult life... I finally had it 2 weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it!

WTG, Tammi. I know women who should have had the surgery done, but never did. I'm so glad you're feeling so good about it, that it has been a positive experience.

Take care.

Congrats on holding, Tammi, and on getting the surgery. I know several women who had it done, and all are pleased.

Glad to see you!
