Thanks for visiting my journal, too!

Yes, that 200 lb barrier is right around the corner! (Although I can't seem to find WHICH corner )

Way to go on starting your walking program. I love to walk. Right now, I walk about 1.25miles. My goal is to increase it each month until I am getting in 2miles. I get up around 4:30-4:40 am and get my walking done early in the morning (that way I can't make excuses for not doing it) I also take my dog and it is so pretty that early, right about dawn. I want to start some weight training, but haven't done that yet.

Good luck with your classes! I am taking psychology statistics right now through Troy State University (DL program). I am trying to get my BS Psychology/minor business. The company I work for is paying for my school (which is why I am minoring in business). I can only take one class at a time right now, so I will probably graduate in July 2007. Then I will go after my Masters in Christian Counseling. :great:

Keepon keepin on! I know when I am tempted to cheat, I remember I just bought clothes in a smaller size! That helps me a lot.

Thatv is funny! I had some crack while they boiled and when we colored them a bit leaked in side. I had some funky looking egg salad. The girls at work gagged. I thought it was kind of neat!

Hello again journal -
I don't stop by enough, do I?
I almost felt out of control yesterday, but by evening it had settled down. and weight this morning was 204, so can't be that bad.

204 down another 1 - creeping ever closer to that 200. Haven't been below 205 for about 3 years (then just sabotaged myself). haven't broken 200 for about 5 years.

This time I'm going to go right through it. I don't even feel like starting up on anything I'm not supposed to.

Looking forward to the Curves weight challenge. I've been reading the book, and really like the ideas/concepts presented. Low-carb, which I definitely need - but a little more freedom, esp in the fruit area. Kinda already started a little on their plan. will probably do their 'induction' for the 2 week once the challenge starts.
Gotta quit feeling guilty when I have shrimp. Always feel like it is a luxury food, but it is such a good one for me as simple and easy.

B today was Maggies cereal with a little sf syrup, and 1/2 a banana cut up into it. It was wonderful. Adkins was making me afraid of bananas - but it was tasty.

and the weight does seem to come off more consistently when I am a little higher in the carbs. why am I avoiding them so much? I mean, I should skip the bread/pasta/sweets and stuff - but I shouldn't be afraid of a stupid banana!!! and the Adkins shakes - why do I feel guilty with that!! It has high protein and I should be able to have one daily as a snack. See - that is where the Curves diet seems to be a little more freeing - they actually suggest that. and I don't want the stupid 'treat' bars - but nothing wrong with a breakfast bar once in a while.

well, the last couple of days have been awful. No reason, just out of control. No big 'cheats' or anything, just couldn't seem to get enough to eat. and I'm back at 206. Darn!! (not what I mean to say).
was starting the day with MC with banana - just thought I'd try it. But that just made me want more food. Couldn't seem to get enough food in the morning, and end up with a adkins bf bar about an hour later.
so - back to eggs and bacon this morning - see if I stay filled up a little more.
Haven't been managing my water or veggies very well either. Water is just from lack of trying - veggies is from lack of wanting , at all. Going to hit the grocery and grab a bag or 2 of salad mixings - I just don't do it myself if it isn't ready. Ate all my cucumbers already for this week. need to cut up the peppers.
Cooked the turkey yesterday, so at least I have some easy protein.

I just need to get back in the swing. Just kinda being lax the week before the Curves thing starts, I think. Once that starts, I should be more motivated.

Today wasn't much better. I keep starting with good intentions, but manage to mess it up.
Today, suggested Arby's for lunch. Thought I would try one of their 'Low Carby' things. Which the one by me had none of on the menu. Went for the Martha's Vineyard. Knew it had apple pieces, but came back and checked on DietFacts - 35 gr carbs - after fiber deduction!!! sheesh!!! but it was good.

Other than that doing okay. need to get to work on the house, but just enjoying doing nuttin this weekend. Had to throw away some chicken - tonight will end up being cheeseburgers - got some nice patties to cookup. Will have to manage to force down some more salad. Just can't find any of the greenery appealing these days....

oh well.
Just frustrated with myself. Am not truly messing up, but not really concentrating on my water and veggies like I should be. so - shortcutting more than I should. I'm not keeping Fitday like I should, and I think I'm somewhere between eating too little but also too much of the wrong things.

Did throw away the rest of the butter loaf and LC PB cookies. finding myself in them more than I should be lately - so out they go.

well, off to cook up the cheeseburgers, unless I can talk DH into grilling them. 2 weeks ago I couldn't convince him not to - to the point where I got sick of grilled foods - this week I can't get him to.

RECOMMITMENT DAY!
no more putting it off 'cause the Curves thing will be starting'.
today is the day. 2 weeks of their 'induction' starting today. I've been out of ketosis for a few days and need to get back in (although the scale was down a lb this morning).
I intend to have my MC each morning - won't give that up. They have several days with cottage cheese/fruit & yogurt/fruit for breakfast - I just don't care for either of those. If not MC, then 2eggs/2bacon.
ready with the other stuff - got turkey, shrimp, other proteins - lots of greenery in the fridge. (do need to cut up my cucs today!).

Got the 'Curves on the Go' book - really a pretty good little journal for tracking meals, exercise - noting favorite restaurant meals, carb counter & general info. Gotta keep it with me!

I haven't been hi-carbing, just too much of lc 'easy' stuff. I do like the Adkins vanilla shake, and Curves recommends having a protein shake of some kind daily. I'll try theirs, but I really, really like Adkins. So, don't have to stop that - just have to stop feeling guilty about it. But, no more breakfast bars. I've been using the apple crisp bar as a treat and need to stop it.

Tried the Dreamfields pasta last night (penne) with Ragu meaty sauce and shredded cheese. Made a wonderful 'goulash' - even Brian gobbled it up. And the dogs went nuts over it!! May do again - but not for awhile. No matter what they say on the front of the box, the carb count seems high to me on the actual label. I'll allow myself a little m-n-c serving when I get to 195.

I'll keep posting here on the Curves Challenge.
Starting weight this morning (my scale) 204.5

Thanks for stopping by!
I'm glad you are getting back to Curves. Don't push it with the wrist.

First challenge meeting was last night. It is a different concept. But I am starting on the 2-week Phase 1. There are about 25 women in this group. We are ALL OVER THE PLACE!! But it should be a lot of fun. and only about 3 of the women come up as calorie sensitive, the rest of us are carb-sensitive.

Very much like induction - unlimited protein, limit 20 grams of carbs (and this is full carbs, none of that net carb stuff you have to think about). But most of the salad food and a protein shake per day are considered 'free' foods - so you don't count them at all.
It does have you stick with the lower-fat protein foods - which is fine with me. Love my turkey and shrimp anyhow. but I need to get some low fat cottage cheese and fruits. I just have a tendency to overdo the fruits...

I have to go out today and get me a food scale. Never had one and my portions have alwasys been 'super-sized' - and although the proteins are unlimited - I really need to get a true portion concept going.

I did take my Maggies Cereal morning portion down to the 1/3 cup instead of 1/2 cup I have been having, and the numbers fit perfectly into the plan. Yes - its more like 12 full carbs - but morning is the time for the carbs to get me through the day. The rest of the day is proteins and 'free' foods.

This looks totally doable. I do need to up my exercise. 3x at Curves is great - but I need to break out the walking tape and start doing crunches. my little 'pooch' is just hanging in. I've lost inches everywhere but the abs. I did order an ab-roller, but hasn't come yet. So I need to commit to exercise - EVERY DAY!

so, I begin a new journey. I will post my food journal nightly, and my numbers weekly. I have been struggling with the Adkins lately. I am a slow loser - and it has been quite discouraging lately. Not that I will ever start back up on the sugar/breads - they just create havoc with my body - not in the weight alone, but in the health.
Curves does work you towards eating *normally* again when you reach your goal - but I think my normal will never include those HC foods again.

MaryKay,

You are so motivated!! You are going to rock the Curves challenge!!

Good luck and keep us posted!!

I too have added fruits into my WOE - needed them. Although I tend to over do them, I think working out will offset the increased carbs!

Have a good day!!!

a new day. still in there.
Sometimes you just need to change things up a little.
since I started, I have been drinking my water from 24oz water bottles (I keep 6 in the fridge, refilling - then get new ones once a month - cheap thing, aint I?)

I was doing really good for awhile, then just couldn't seem to drink it. Kept leaving half bottles all over the place, and not getting my full water in. So, 2 days ago I started pouring (actually shooting) the water from each bottle into a RED plastic cup. Suddenly, it seems easy again. yesterday, I had over 150 oz of water!! It just doesn't seem like a chore again.

Just thought I'd mention that - if it starts getting old again, maybe I'll get me something else to drink from.

Oh, and wearing a new 'workout' outfit for Curves today. Bought in the 'regular' section of the store!!!!! not the womens!! :gorgeous:

When I joined the Curves challenge, we get t-shirts for it. I asked for a Large, instead of my usual xxl or xl - figure might as well be optimistic, right?? and I can wear it. I'm not buried in it like the rest of my tshirts, but then I'm not trying to hide anymore either. I'm in such a better mood again. Just been bummed out the last couple/few weeks.
I so needed a change.

Good for you Mary Kay :great:

150 ounces of water??!!! Wow....., I'm impressed! It also sounds like you're making considerable progress at Curves.

Keep up the good work :jump:
