| So sorry your family/friends aren't supporting your in your journey to better health. I'm sure it is so hard to deal with. This is a great site. Just ask for support and it is there. and sometimes lectures Don't change your goal yet. Wait until you get there and see how it looks. It's hard to hit a moving target, but once you do - move it. and I know it is hard to get the exercise in with a little one - but have you worked in any 'toning' exercises? Bring in ds to the fun. You're probably having to lift him enough, and using him as a weight in fun exercises can help tone up.

| Oh Emily! I agree with Mary Kay... so sorry that you are around folks who don't see the value of what you have found. It is surprising to find that people you love don't support you in something you feel is good for you. I would miss the energy, new clothes, increased libido and better cholesterol numbers if I left low carbing. All I need to remind me of what a horrible drug sugar is, is to fall off the wagon for a day or night, whew! The carb hangover is so miserable! Great advice on the goal. You and I are almost the same height (I'm 5'5") and my goal has been 128 forever. I think many times that if I had just had a couple of mini goals I wouldn't have had such a hard time. What I should do is the opposite of what you have done. I should shoot first for 135 and THEN, once I'm there and feeling great about reaching it and maintaining, THEN shoot for 128. As a friend once advised, "don't try to eat the elephant all at once, little bites will do it." This is a terrific site and we are all here for you... hang in there with us! |

| Rachel & Mary Kay, I am ssoooooooo glad you guys stopped by! I love knowing other people care enough to post here. I will take your advice on the goal. Once I reach 135 I will go from there. And I do need to tone more. I have 5 and 10 pound weights and an exercise ball that I work out with to a video, but sporadically. I also put ds in the nursery at the gym to do the weight circuit, but not as often as I should because it costs $5 per hour. I know I need to work out more w/ weights. As I sit here drinking my morning joe, and thinking about all the good things about lc woe to keep my spirits up, I composed the following song: My Favorite Things Atkins and South Beach and CALP and Zone For those and more, LowCarbEating is home Newbies, vets, gurus and mods that sing These are a few of my fave LC things Whoosh fairies, {{{hugs}}} and Andrea our WebMom Maggie’s cereal, DaVinci, and water by the gallon Veggies, steak, eggs, cheese and chicken wings These are a few of my fave LC things FitDay and journals and purple Ketostix Lots of success stories and Splenda for my sugar fix Challenges, lost inches and loose-fitting rings These are a few of my fave LC things When the scale lies When the stalls sting When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my fave LC things And then I don't feel so bad! I'm going to post this in the Everything Else forum also to share with others.

| I'm copying this post dated 4-2-04 from old board: Haven't posted in a couple days w/ all the work on the website. I ate on plan and got all my water in. No cheats! Didn't exercise as much as I wanted, though. Will get back into it today. I had lunch w/ 2 ex-coworkers last week, and they didn't mention anything about my weight loss. I've only lost 10 pounds, but I've gone from a size 12+ to a loose 10 and even some 8's. Anyway, I was on the phone answering some questions from a 3rd coworker yesterday, and he mentioned he had talked to one of my friends I had lunch w/, and she mentioned I "looked great, and had lost a lot of weight!" So I guess you can't get upset if people don't notice your weight loss - they probably do and just don't want to say anything.

| Only 6 posts? I have more than that in this thread alone. Darn - I had shed the "newbie" title on the old board and now I have to start all over!

| Emily, How are you doing? Did you have to re-register on this new board? Fortunately I didn't have to. I didn't have the best week eating-wise last week... actually my eating was downright hideous. I think I finally got the jolt I needed to get back on track this morning. My 7-day avg weight jumped up to 160.1 - did not ever want to go above 160 again! (unless I'm preggers, which I'm not) Plus, signed Mary and I up for swim classes starting June 12th... that gives me about 2 months to lose some of this poundage so I can at least maybe look halfway decent in a swimsuit. Okay... sorry for going on and on in your journal. I guess I just needed to get it out. Thanks for 'listening'! Sounds like you're doing well with getting back into the swing of things. Oh, BTW, I like your song too. Have a great day!

| Hey Debby, How funny, I was thinking about you today and actually have a regular e-mail to you saved in my Drafts Outlook folder. I got interrupted mid-message by a certain 3-yr-old and never got back to it. Sorry your eating has been "hideous" LOL. Mine has been nothing to brag about either. I do fine when I'm home, but I've had a lot of social obligations lately that get me off track. I have a baby shower at an Italian restaurant tomorrow How's life otherwise? That's great you've got Mary in swim lessons. You'll both love it! I've got to wait till Michael is 100% potty trained before I get him in lessons again. What an ordeal. I don't have as much time to get on these boards like I used to - but will still try to keep up w/ my journal. I'm confident your avg will be below 160 soon. Don't give up....

| Copied from old board dated 4-2-04: Pretty good day. I ran/walked 4 miles, but it was a big struggle. I haven't felt this sluggish in 2 weeks. My theory: this morning was the first time since March 22 that I didn't drink 16 oz of water before diving into the coffee. Just didn't want to. So even though I brought water with me, I wasn't properly hydrated before I began my exercise. B-decaf, spinach quiche from DANDR, cinnamon/splenda toast L-chicken/egg salad, 1/2 avocado, pork rinds D-shrimp scampi, spinach/romaine/cuke salad S-Apple crisp bar total-25.9 net carbs water-80 oz tomorrow will be a big mental test - toddler birthday party w/ chocolate cake and pizza, and no lc food in site.

| Emily, thanks for the encouragement. I got back on track today and decided to start posting in my journal again. Feel free to stop by anytime. Good luck with the baby shower tomorrow. You can do it! Heres to eating clean through the weekend and beyond!!! :fork:

| OK, it's been almost a week since I checked in with carb counts, and I can't use the new boards as an excuse anymore! I have been eating mostly on plan, with 2 hiccups that I planned for. I won't chronicle each day's food intake, except the hiccups below. I've also been exercising regularly (5x/week) and getting in at least 80 oz. of water. The scale hasn't moved, but I didn't expect it to. I'm yet another glacier. Hiccup #1- went to a pizza birthday party and had 2 slices of Papa Murphy's veggie deLite pizza. This is their lower carb (not lo-carb) option, which has 14g carbs per slice, excluding fiber if any. Not bad considering regular pizza is 30+ carb grams. And the 14g is for 1/8 of a large pizza, which is a pretty big slice. This pizza was awesome!! Very thin crust. And I didn't indulge in the cake, ice-cream or pop so not a fatal cheat. I also drank tons of water and exercised like a madwoman to make up for it. Hiccup #2 - went to a baby shower at an Italian restaurant. God help me. I stayed away from the pasta, though, and had a mixed greens salad topped w/ grillled chicken. The chicken was lightly breaded so it wasn't low carb. There was this incredible-looking roll sitting on the edge of my salad plate, beckoning me the entire lunch. I held off till the very end when my friend was opening her gifts, then caved. The sad thing is, I savored every bite. I was hoping I would've lost my taste for bread (like I have for very sweet things), but no go. And I am a perfect example of people whose carb cravings are awakened by cheats. Because I went home and cheated even more. The cheats at home were with "legal" lc treats, but too much of them. Fortunately though, I got back on the wagon immediately. Today has been a model lc day so far, and tonight I'm making Chilean sea bass and sauteed spinach for dinner. And luckily I have no cravings. So there ya go....

| It's Saturday night and I feel such joy right now - there are no words to express my mood. It's just so exciting/rewarding/joyous/peaceful/fun to experience Easter through the eyes of a child. Even though Michael doesn't understand the meaning of "resurrection", we are still celebrating new life w/ colored Easter eggs (betcha didn't know you can fit 3 eggs in a mug filled with dye if you pound on the top one hard enough) and tales of the Easter Bunny. Tomorrow is early church then an Easter egg hunt and unveiling of the Easter basket filled w/ goodies. Can't wait. I've stayed mostly on plan the last 2 days, got all my water in, and went to the gym this morning (35 minute cardio and lower body circuit weights). We had some good friends over earlier today to watch the Masters and I did have a glass of champagne. Not too many carbs, but it will stall any potential weight loss for probably 2 days. My father-in-law is here from Cleveland, and I've still managed to stay in a good mood. He doesn't feel I'm good enough for his son (mainly because I worked when Michael was little), and we have a strained relationship. I used to get real upset about it, but now I realize it's his problem and just try to get thru the days while he's here. He says he's on Atkins, which is bs. But I've kept my mouth shut while he eats granola, rice w/ teriyaki, bread, pickles, cookies, etc. I don't know what version of Atkins he thinks he's doing. Tomorrow we're going out to eat Easter brunch. I'm going to try and stay on plan as much as possible!

| Emily, thanks for the Easter wishes. Hope you had a very Happy and Blessed Easter! It is so much fun experiencing it with a little one, isn't it? For 2 days, Mary kept saying... "Easter coming soon". We colored eggs on Saturday, and she just loves eating her Easter eggs. They are such a joy (children, that is)! Sounds like things are going well. How long is you FIL in town for? Well, better get going. Lots to do while Mary's sleeping (it's been an hour now)... oh, nevermind... just heard her wake up. Have a great day! Debby

| Stayed on plan all day yesterday - except 2 little pieces of ds's Easter candy. I won't let that make me feel guilty! B-lc cereal, decaf L-Easter brunch at a hotel. Awesome - and very easy to stay on plan! Had tons of food, but all Atkins friendly (veggie omelette, bacon, chicken, ham, zucchini, can't remember everything). They also had a little petting zoo and Easter egg hunt. Very fun for ds! D-chili, cheese, salad S-Easter candy Today: B-lc cereal, decaf L-baked fish, sauteed yellow squash and onion D-will be steak, broccoli and salad I did a 45 minute run/walk this morning w/ ds in jog stroller. I'm behind on water, but will catch up. I don't even want to touch the Easter candy laying around, which is great. Got it all out of my system yesterday.

| OMG, OMG, OMG :crying: I lost it tonight. Ate 2 hard boiled eggs and coffee for breakfast, chicken salad and green salad for lunch, and went crazy at dinner. Ate Tombstone pizza I made for ds, Girl Scout cookies that have been hiding in the freezer for months, and everything else in sight. Geezus H. Christ! I don't know what happened. I did so well over the Easter holidays. I'm gulping water right now and going to bed before I do any more damage.
