Oh, Emily... I'm so sorry. Not really much more that I can say, but hang in there. Will say a little prayer for you. Certainly your day will get better.

Today is bittersweet. It's ds's very first day of preschool. He was so excited he put on his new backpack 30 minutes before we left and wouldn't take it off. He even posed for pictures (rare). I brought him inside to meet his teacher, he hopped over to the toyshelf and picked up a helicopter to play with, and never looked back. He could not have cared less whether I was there or not. Not even a hug or kiss goodbye! :( I'm really glad, though. I'd hate to have him clinging to my leg and crying not to leave him.

Well, at least the eating went well yesterday after my bad morning. Today is a different story. Had not one, but two Apple Crisp bars for breakfast. I was in a major hurry trying to get showered and get Michael off to preschool by 7:45, and had no time for breakfast. And I wasn't coming home after dropping him off so I had to eat something. I ate one bar and wasn't satisfied so had another. Grrrr. I had a salad with grilled chicken for lunch (plus one french fry and one sip of non-diet soda ), but will have a good dinner.

So.... sorry Debby! After getting on your case yesterday about staying on Induction for one more week, I couldn't even stay on one more day. I'll continue for 3 more days then move on to owl.

I didn't manage either--but will be better the rest of the week about staying on induction foods and at the 20-25carb level! Have a great evening! Glad DS loves preschool--it is nice when they do--it is a good start to liking regular school too!

Emily, just wanted to stop in and say thanks for letting me talk your ear off yesterday. You're a good listener, a good supporter (can be tough when I need it), and a good friend. Thanks SO much!!! Ended up taking today off work so that I can get more organizing and such done around the house today with DD gone. Crazy, huh? Anyway, I can see the top of my dining room table again. Accomplished that while eating my yummy salad for dinner. Have a great day! Enjoy moving on to OWL again... so how many carbs per day this week?

You mean there was a table under there??? I have done just that a time or two as well! It is easiest when DD is gone to clean out her stuff too--I can go through the papers and throw things away and most of it she never notices anyway! Some days you jsut have to take time for you! Even if it is things needing done in the house that YOU do!

LOL! Fortunately I can see my dining room table. I'm not allowed to have anything in there while DH is building raised-panel wainscotting for the dining room. Just don't ask to see what's under the beds! Everytime we have the threat of company, all stacks of stuff go under the beds.

I'm sticking to Induction for 2 more days since I cheated yesterday
Had 2 Apple bars for breakfast, a good lc lunch, but lc pasta and meatsauce for dinner.

Only 2 1/2 weeks before I have to go to Chicago and hang out with all these skinny people. Do you think I can lose 10 pounds by then?

That'll be tough. Maybe 5 pounds is more realistic. But, never hurts to try. Some exercise would help.

I was kidding about the 10 pounds! LOL

I've had a couple good days of eating, but haven't exercised in about a week, and boy do I feel it. I wore a pair of size 10 pants yesterday that used to practically fall down, but not anymore! I could feel the waist around my stomach, ick. Gotta get movin'.

Watched a lot of Reagan's funeral procession yesterday. It really got to me. Watching Nancy was just heartbreaking. Reagan was the first president I really remember. We were in Detroit for the '80 convention (df was delegate from TX) and in Washington for all the inaugural festivities, where I got my first taste of real politics. I wish today's politicians could be more like some of old, you know, disagreeing without being disagreeable.

Anyway, the jig is up at preschool. Michael figured out I wasn't going to stay and play with him so Wednesday wasn't as easy as Monday (he goes MWF). I'm getting pretty stressed about the whole thing.

My goal today is to get in at least 40 minutes of cardio, and do either upper or lower body weights.

I've been in OWL since Monday. Only stayed on re-Induction for 6 days. I aimed for seven, on day 7 I fell off, vowed to get back on for a few more days, but never could. However, I think that's OK because it's not necessary to re-induct for longer than that. I think I've been abusing induction when getting off plan. I need to not be in such a hurry to lose weight, and just work on making this a way of life. Induction could never be a way of life for me.

I'm afraid I've already ruined my golden opportunity with low carb. I've stayed at low levels for too long. But once I surpass around 30, I not only quit losing, I gain. This greatly concerns me, because I would like to get to the point where I can eat an occasional sweet potato or brown rice, and not consider it "cheating".

I feel great this morning, and I owe that to finally getting back to physical activity yesterday. Walked/jogged for 40 minutes, and was surprised at how easy it was considering I've been a couch fauxtato for the past week. Maybe I should join that challenge??? I also did a lot of physical yardwork and playing with ds in the backyard.

An odd thing: I am absolutely craving romaine salads these days. I'm not complaining, there are worse things to crave. I just think it's odd that after low-carbing for 5 months, and the endless salads that go along with that, that I'm craving them now! Of course, I'm now adding a few yummy pine nuts or sunflower seeds for extra flavor.

I have to have mys alad for lunch or it isn't lunch and I tend to graze a bit anyway! If I missout on my 3 cups of lettuce with some meat on top and that salad dressing--stuck on bacon ranch right now! I also add bacon pieces, slivered almonds, sunflower seeds, and shredded cheese on a whim! Sometimes shredded carrots too! I love salad--always have but it just doesn't seem like lunch without one now--and I have been having salad for lunch for like 5 months now!!! Every day--one would expect burnout but not me. . .I miss it if I don't eat it! Add chicken breast, steak slivers, ham steak, pork strips, you name it for protein! MMMMMMMM!!! I found that 40 is my limit but since I have been swimming every day--I do fine with as many as 60 on one or two days a week! I have to go back to setting an alarm and actually getting my butt out of bed--sleeping til noon has not been good formy weight loss, at least not this week!

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody...

DH and DS are out in the backyard camping tonight! I popped them some popcorn and didn't even eat one morsel. Yay me. I rented a chick flick (Calendar Girls) and I'm going to enjoy some peace and quiet for a few hours.

Doing well on the eating front:
    B-Decaf, cream, Atkins cereal
    L-Chicken/egg salad spooned over Romaine
S-Salami/swiss rollup, a few sunflower seeds (need to start making veggie snacks)
D-Grilled salmon, steamed cauliflower, salad w Italian dressing

Only exercise today was mopping the floors and weeding the backyard.

    Happy weekend!!

    Catch-up for the last 2 days -

Sunday: Ate mostly on plan. Had a Chipotle burrito bowl for dinner and ate around the rice, but still probably had a couple tablespoons sneak in. Drank all my water, and did 53 minutes cardio (43 minutes jogging, 10 minutes walking). Jogged longer than normal because didn't have ds in jog stroller. Got sunburned doing too much yardwork.

Monday: Uncharacteristically lethargic today. Took a rare nap while ds was napping. I'm sure it's because Saturday night I stayed up till 3:30 in the morning. I rented a movie so drank a cup of coffee to stay awake and watch it. Bad decision - kept me awake well past the movie's end. Didn't eat breakfast because I couldn't get my act together before taking ds to preschool.

Wish I had something fun and exciting to report...

My family, on the other hand, has more interesting lives! Brother and sister-in-law are vacationing in London and Scotland while my parents keep the kids. So jealous! Mom and Dad spent the weekend celebrating GHWB's birthday - big party at Minute Maid Park on Saturday, train to College Station on Sunday for the skydiving incident and another party at the library there.
