Default my new life

I don't know that I'm doing this in the right order; I'm starting a journal before posting on the other main boards.

After a few years of yo-yoing, I'm ready to be healthy and start fresh.

I bought a new weightlifting system and Saturday, October 29, 2004 will start my low carb life.

I love fruits and that will be hard to control, many days my meals are fruit smoothies. I do really well with those but it's the breads, cereals, potatoes, rice, that seem to make me feel bloated and fat.

I will weigh in the morning to have an official beginning weight.
Ann3 in honor of my Mother and Grandmother.

Day One:

Hubby is cooking breakfast sausage. Not my ideal food but at least it's not cereal (my downfall). He likes cooking breakfast when Xander has friends overnight.

I am going to poach some eggs and maybe have some salsa with it. Then I'm going to lift weights for an hour or two. I'd like to take the dogs to the dog park today, we'll see how that works out; it would be great exercise for all of us.

I am torn about the fruit. I have felt so much better eating the fruit and even though Atkins limits it at first, I really feel that I should incorporate it for some reason. I will no longer be eating the breads and refined carbs. I may follow the plan but include fruit...I know some people will roll their eyes or say I'm not following the plan, but I have to work it so that it works for me. I will do this for at least one to two weeks and see 1: how I feel and 2: if I'm losing weight. Those are more important to me than whether I am following the book to the letter.

Dress size today: 12
Goal size: 4/6

Energy level today: low to medium
Goal: medium high to high

Overall feeling: rundown, easily tired, susceptible to colds and mood swings
Goal: energy to live my life with my family and friends, resistance to colds, eliminate mood swings.

Here I go!

November 01, 2004

yesterday wasn't great, wasn't terrible. I learned that boredom is definitely my dietary enemy.

Xander is sick today with 103 degree fever and upper respiratory illness so he doesn't feel like having food or the smell of food in the house so that will make it easy not to cook.

I did fix myself some low carb hot cocoa for breakfast. I might make some raw vegetables and cheese for my lunch, that shouldn't bother him too much.

I need more exercise than I've had the last two days. My jeans were way too snug this morning. It's raining here but maybe while X. is napping I can sneak a few minutes here and there on the weight machine.

Ann3 - your sig only shows on the first post of a page (I think that's how it works).

The signature only shows up once per page and since it's on the third post it won't show up again until the next page.

I eat fruit, berries most of the time. I have had a few peaches as well. I think you'll find a few that do eat it but later on. I think it's important with the antioxidants and such. You do what is right for you.

Is Xander your son? My son's name is Xander as well. He's only 14 1/2 months old though. No friends overnight yet. Sorry to hear he's not feeling well. That's a bummer.

I do the 2-mile Walk Away the Pounds tape while my Xander is napping on the weekends and in the evenings. I alternate it with aerobics. The WATP is more intense though. It's really helped with my energy level. And now I don't have the weather to contend with. I really think the exercise helped me not to get the cold my Xander just got over. I usually do end up with at least the sniffles.

Good luck to you.

I forgot to tell you that I love cereal as well and once I had been doing low carb about a month I got the Atkins Morning Start blueberry, now I have the banana and really like it with the Hood chocolate dairy (milk substitute). It's not perfect but it's better than nothing.

oh, that's why the sig isn't showing up! thank you both!

Cushie, yes, Xander is my son, 14 1/2 YEARS old! too funny!

I have the WATP as well, I love it. I also got some weights a week ago and am loving that too.

I am finding I feel dehydrated without the fruit (even with lots of fluids). I am going to keep on eating fruit and work around it I guess.

I've stayed away from cereal the last two days, otherwise it would be two or three bowls before I stop.

I've seen the ATkins foods and have wondered about them but figured I better heal myself and get myself 'in line' before I venture into processed foods.

thanks for posting here! I appreciate it!

today has started out well.
1 poached egg with butter
sf, ff, hot cocoa with a cinnamon stick.

I have been weightlifting and my muscles are getting bigger but I'm still fatty, need more cardio.

I need to be really strict with my eating today, I've had bloat and all other issues that are related to over-carbing.

cereal was the devil incarnate for me..*L*.. i havent even TRIED the "low carb" cereals... to worried about getting hooked and going back to the REAL STUFF..*L* (that sounds so wierd.. but its how i feel...)
i guess the sugar in it was the problem... and milk is high in carbs as well...
now i have eggs and sausage or bacon... i dont get the high and crash from cereal .. although.... to be honest.. i almost NEVER ate cereal for breakfast.. only late at nite...
welcome to the community.. and best wishes for a healthy new start!
