well, it's almost the weekend ...
and it's warmer here in chicago today! but it's gonna rain ...

anyhoo, yesterday ended up pretty ok ...
L: huge salad w/ lots of veggies, baked chicken and ranch
    S: ounce of walnuts
D: roman tuna salad, coffee w/ cream
drank a ton of water yesterday ... it must be that new green bottle i bought!

went to caribou to study right after work ... went pretty well! the test is in less than 2 weeks! AAGGGGH! am scared.
then had a facial at 7 PM ... it was sooo nice and relaxing. it's like therapy for me!
then went home to watch law & order ... ended up having about a half cup of LC ice cream! what is WRONG with me?!
i ate for no good reason at all! wasn't even having a craving!
told male roommate to eat all of it and not to bring anymore LC treats in the house! think i scared him! heehee.

as planned, i didn't work out yesterday. body is sore still and needed a rest.
however, tonite is crazy workout nite!
i'll do 30-45 cardio, then an abs class, and then power yoga. it's my favorite nite!

and get this -- out of no where darling BF called this morning and asked if we could go out tonite! (usually it's me that does the creative/social planning!)
he said we should go to darwin's (my favorite restaurant/bar!) ... i almost fell off my chair.
very excited! may have to cut my workout short!

    ok, eating plan for today:
B: coffee w/ cream and about 3 oz cream cheese w/ splenda. will have some turkey/swiss rolls in a little bit.
    L: big salad
    D: burger and veggies?
LOTS and LOTS of H2O today! and NO treats!

blah! was so hungry - just ate like 4 big turkey/swiss rolls! too much salt and cheese and nitrates, for sure!
ate 4-5 pieces of low fat swiss! (LF has same carb count as regular.)
oooh, shouldn't have eaten so much. boo.
    must drink water asap.

ok, had big salad for lunch (no protein). also bought a can of almonds. thinking i will have to throw them away to avoid eating too many.
no ... i will just exert self control.
am sad b/c i feel like no one is posting on the forums today! feel like chatting ...
    oh well.
    i'm tired, need a nap.

    Hi Carrie.
I'm still here. as always. can't seem to stay away. But it is awful quiet today.
Use a marker on the top of the can of almonds. Make a mark for every 5 you nibble. Just a way of being accountable.

    kinda lonely around here today!
but ... i didn't eat that chocolate EAS perfection bar that i usually succumb to during my workday!
    that's a VERY GOOD thing!

Just got your message re: my pic. You're so sweet!! Yeah, I have to wear a suit everyday. I have meetings at the WH and on the Hill most days, so I try to dress up as not to succumb to age discrimination.

Although this past week, my boss has been in Europe so jeans, sneakers and a polo shirt has been my outfit of choice. So nice to dress down!!

Carrie, you've been doing GREAT this week!! As you might of read from my journal, I weighed and the scale sucks. Showed an increase but I'm chalking it up to muscle mass not fat increase. Hopefully, I'll get a whoosh from the exercise soon. How many times a week do you exercise?

hi shannon! thank GOODNESS it's friday!! i simply do NOT want to be here today!
your job sounds so important! meetings at the WH?! that is veeeerrry cool!

isn't it fabulous when the boss is out of town? my entire team is located in columbus, OH. i'm the only one in chicago ... so all communication is long distance. i hardly ever see my boss! lots of autonomy ... i really like the set up!

do NOT worry about the gain ... you have been doing extremely well these past few weeks! you have exercised so much and so hard.
i am sure it's a lean muscle gain or water retention. did you drink alcohol last nite maybe?
or is your TOM on the way? oh wait, you said you were spotting! (i hate that, i'm on the pill too ... and got my TOM like 3 times in 2 months when i first started this WOE!) ... so i'm SURE your body's doing something whacky - holding onto water, etc. don't worry.
i have really been trying to exercise religiously in 2004.
i have been going about 6 days a week, on average. i HATE running, so i usually do elliptical and bike (45 mins total) when i do cardio.

yesterday i left work early and went to caribou to study. then went next door to the gym...
did 45 min cardio, upper body lifting and then a 30 min abs class (which KILLS me!)
then ran home and showered ...
picked up BF and went to my favorite bar (darwin's). i had a burger w/ swiss and some red wine ...
we didn't stay too long b/c BF was tired. must have been the HUGE pieces of bread he ate (turkey club)! boo.
back at his house i had some bites of LC ice cream. but it's almost gone and i won't buy anymore to keep at his house!
didn't weigh this morning b/c i still have TOM and felt bloated.
cannot wait for it to go away! i'm hoping to drop a pound or two when it ends. keep fingers crossed. it's been FOREVER since that D*MN scale has moved. GRRRR.

tonite i'm going to pilates after work, then heading out to my parents' house in the burbs. mom and i are going to see "the passion." i wasn't too eager to see it ... and i know my mom is gonna cry a lot, so it should be an interesing experience.
all day tomorrow i'm hiding out at my parents' house, studying for the GMAT! plan to take a CD ROM test.
also take puppy lucy for a nice long walk, if it's not raining!
    eating today:
B: parmesan omelet, coffee w/ cream, handful of almonds
    L: big salad, no protein
D: meat patties w/ cheese and a salad, probably have wine w/ the family, too

had an atkins subway wrap instead of a salad for lunch!
(based on recommendations to increase my carbs ...)
it was tasty! not very big, so filled me up just enough.
i won't make them a habit, but it was a nice change.
also had a snack of cream cheese w/ splenda ...

I love the LC Subway wraps! They really aren't bad for you. Given the amount of time you spend exercising, you should definitely give yourself some of carb-easy menu items!!

    You deserve it!!

all right, i didn't write all weekend ... and i'm so bummed that it's monday already. very grouchy. although it's sunny in chicago, so that helps a little.
weekend was OK for eating ...
friday i left work early, went to pilates. then headed out to my parents' house for dinner. we had steak and spinach salad, had one glass of wine.
then watched "mona lisa smiles" ... it was pretty good.
slept over there, played w/ my puppy ... she's so sweet.
took a GMAT practice test (on the computer) on sat morning. went pretty well - not phenomenal, but not miserable.
coffee, bacon and eggs for breakfast.
headed back to the city, got ready for a dinner party (boyfriend's friends' house).
had cream cheese/splenda for a snack w/ a few walnuts.
got to the party, didn't know the hosts - but knew most people there.
boyfriend was already on my nerves b/c he wanted me to drive to his house before the party, EVEN THOUGH I LIVE DOWN THE STREET FROM WHERE THE PARTY WAS. was pretty annoyed, asked him to please pick me up - b/c it makes more sense. so he did ... acted like i asked for one of his kidneys!!!
anyway, i had a vodka/soda and it hit me like a truck. (hadn't eaten in a while.) ended up getting in huge fight w/ boyfriend, i left the party early, spent most of the rest of the evening crying to mom and my roommate. nice, huh?
won't go into details. but i'm embarrassed that we fought at the party. and of course, upset that we fought in the first place. i know i overreacted, but it's like i was looking for something to get angry at him about. know what i mean?
oh, also devoured some LC ice cream while crying.

anyway, we made up the next morning straight away. he's always good like that - apologizes immediately. never wants to let the fight linger. i love that about him. then he started talking about how he's not afraid to talk about moving in together, getting married, etc. that he wants those things w/ me. and then i started getting scared ... is he the one?? oh god, i don't know!
but all is fine w/ the relationship, for now.
went to yoga yesterday morning to get rid of all my negative energy!
oh yeah, i think i ate some meatballs at the dinner party and they had bread crumbs in them, i'm sure. not good.
after yoga i went to the library and took another practice test. and it went SO well!! like REALLY well! i was very happy!

then went and got a pedicure b/c i deserved it, right?
then got some burgers from BK w/ a diet coke. went home and watched law & order w/ the roommates.

today is a NEW day! and i will have a positive outlook on everything! at least i will try.

B: coffee w/ cream and i think i'm going to have some turkey bacon ...
    L: big salad
    D: ?? dont' know...maybe some chicken sausages?
S: ? i don't know, but i am NOT eating any of those stupid LC chocolates!

oh, i weighed myself at my parents' house and the scale (it's not digital) said 135!!!!
i was like, mom how accurate is this scale?! she said it's always pretty close to what they tell her at the doctor's office.
i don't know ... seems shady to me. b/c i still weigh between 142-144 on my roommate's scale.
oh, and everyone at the party said thing like, "wow, you look so skinny!" yeah for me! that kinda stuff totally encourages me!

also, i'm fitting into almost all of my size 6 pants now ....
so even if the scale is not moving, i know something is going on!

feel bloated this morning, MUST increase water. i was bad about that this weekend.
ok, off to the dentist. boo.

    Carrie!!!!

135 - who cares if it's wrong, must've been great to see that #!!! Maybe you had a whooosh after TOM???

I hear ya about the size 6's...mine fit great but my scale isn't budging. I'm weighing again on Friday but not expecting anything great b/c TOM is next week. Totally down on TOM.

Isn't it so great to receive compliments from people who haven't seen you??

Hope you have a nice day!!

    shannon, thanks for dropping in!
i don't trust that 135 reading, even if it is exciting. i still weigh the same on the scale i started with ....
so that's the one i have to stick with.
anyhoo, had some almonds and cream cheese/splenda for breakfast. didn't feel like makin bacon! (that rhymed. )
for lunch i had a big ol' salad, no protein. i tried that new kraft "carb well" ranch dressing...it takes like junk. hate it. almost tastes fat free.
    all right, back to work!

    finished off yesterday pretty well.
went to the gym straight after work ...
did 45 mins of cardio and then lifted legs. was totally wiped out afterwards!
then went to caribou, had some coffee and studied for about an hour. it was nice. there's a cutie that's always there studying for the DAT. heehee, probably shouldn't be looking since i have a darling BF. !?

anyhoo, then picked up subway for BF and me. had at atkins wrap - made my stomach HURT! i don't think i'll be eating anymore of those. they're not that tasty anyway.

had a FEW bites of LC ice cream, now it's all gone. watched school of rock (stupid movie).

this morning i am SO tired and lethargic. took me like 20 minutes to drag myself to the train and then to the office. blah.
B: coffee w/ cream, 3 pieces turkey bacon, 2 cheese cubes. not very hungry. need more coffee ASAP!
    L: salad ....
D: ? going to a friend's house for dinner and wine. i hope the meal is LC friendly, they know my restrictions. also having wine tonite.

taking the day off from studying ...
the test is in ONE WEEK!!!! AGGGH!
but i'm feeling pretty OK about it. need to work on the writing assessment piece.

might work out after work, depending on what time i need to be at dinner.

    til later ...!

    Hey Carrie---

I have been reading bits of pieces of your journal...it seems like we are about the same age and have the whole bf thing in common--I am just waiting for the ring, if you know what i mean. Anyway, by the terms you use in your journal...like straight away, for example, it sounds like you spend some time in Australia. I thought I would see....just wondering. Good luck on the Gmat!!
