been eating lots of fruits and salads... and do they taste great...
went to a friends on saturday and did some grilling with them, sitting in the hot tub and pool during after etc...
just chicken, sausage and salad.... could't be any better, then some watermellon after ...
think I am on a roll here, and hopefully can keep it up for a couple of days, then maybe a week, then maybe more.

Good job Carolyn! Not gaining weight on vacation is a feat I haven't mastered yet. Sounds like you've got it together!

Rob, the only way I was able to get thru vacation without gaining was making sure I brought the "right foods" with me, walked and swam, and drank lots ofwater cause it was hot....
I brought those carb focus chips (flax seed and air popped potato chips.)
had fruit, veggies, a little regular bread (a treat of cinimmon swirl bread), and
was careful....
I hate going on vacation and gaining 10 more lbs, or whatever than you are struggling to get rid of them (still working on the 15 left from christmas lol)
Anyway, yester day was great....
breakfast - egg, sausage, cheese, salsa breakfast taco with lc tortilla
lunch - chicken and romaine lettuce with small tomatoes out of our garden with a balsamic vinegarrett...
snack was a small orange and some pineapple chunks
dinner ws hamburger on two slices delightful lc bread, with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and a handful of lc flax tortilla chips.... and a few strawberries
almost three quarts of water

water aerobics today (swam yester) also today hour of regular aerobics....
need more sleep, still living a late night person's life and getting up at 5:30 to go to the gym.... just can't seem to get myself into bed before 11 or midnight.

maybe will work on that one.

Carolyn-good job on the no-gain vacation! I'm in the same boat: still trying to lose the weight I gained at Christmas! You can bet your boots, fellow Texan: I will not be doing that again this year!

How's hubby? I've had alot going on here....just wanted you to know I'm not ignoring you!

Tks Rob and Maxi for stopping by....I am trying to work on eating right... I was thinking that I have been stuck at the same weight for about 6 months...
and I know why - not cause I don't exercise - i do 6 days a week, not cause I don't drink enough water - drink plenty, its because this voice in my head always says you can have a little of that....I know I can't...I know that is my down fall and I am tired of feeling like I am spinning my wheels....
I am not going to eat a little ofthat, I am going to bring anything I can eat when I go somewhere so I am not tempted....
we will see on saturday when I go to a pool party... bring my chips, some dips, veggies, and my own sf iced tea to drink...
Maxi- dh is doing great.... when we were on vacation he walked up a storm...
before the operation he could barely walk a block before his leg would bother him.... so I think it was a success.... We walked all around the Kerrville Folk Fest (10 acre ranch) for 4 days and he never complained, had to stop cause
he was hurting, in fact I almost had to run to catch up with him...lol...
yesterdays food choices were great
egg, cheese, sausage taco with hot sauce for breakfast
lunch was chicken with a little dreamfields pasta and sauce with parmasan cheese, some salad and dressing.
snacks were melon balls (about 8) and some grapes
dinner - grilled salmon, broccoli, and salad
about 3 quarts of water....
also did 1 hour of land aerobics (backinto adding two hours per week of exercises)

started today with
2 eggs with mayo - egg salad and two slices of lc bread
lunch will be left over salmon and broccoli and salad
dinner????not sure
snacks some pineapple and strawberries
thats it for now
swam 1/2 mile this morning

c-I hear this same voice! And I too am tired of losing and gaining the same 2-10 pounds over and over. I finally hung a pair of too small jeans on my bedroom door for motivation: I've been the same size so long, my jeans are all wearing out.

Glad to hear DH is doing well!

Maxi, lol maybe we can figure out how to shut out that voice together... if we can do that maybe we can market it...lol...
anyway, yesterday wasn't too bad, had a little of the voice and gave into it, won't tell you what.... back on it today....egg salad for breakfast...
lunch is carne guisada on a lc tortilla with salad on the side
dinner is going to be on the run - a greek salad with gyros meat on top, going to see allison krause at an ACL (austin city limits) taping....
water aerobics this am
and gonna do 1/2 hour land aerobics at lunch.
then eat at my desk.
thats it for now.

Good for you, C! I've also managed to resist the urge to celebrate my job situation. (Check my journal later.) I'm always apt to "have a party in my mouth" as Dr.Phil would say. Alot of times, a l/c shake will fix my sweet tooth.

I haven't done my exercises in 2 days.....I have some catching up to do.

I can relate to your frustration about no loss in 6 months. I've lost 6 1/2 pounds in the last 6 months and 3 1/2 of those were in january when i got sick. It's been all about bad choices for me too. mostly not high carb foods (though the occasional goldfish cracker fiasco has occured) that tempt me. Just too much food. I think that's a good idea about always having the good foods available to you. I need to put that into practice in my life, especially when I go to friends and family.

made it thru day one of full week challenge... planning on eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch each day - egg salad breakfast, tuna salad lunch with some cukes and tomatoes and lettuce...
dinners will change with different meats...
starting to be serious here.... vacations are over for now, and I am not planning on eating anything off plan for a good while... maybe make the 100 day challenge....finally.

Today is day 5 of eating clean... looking forward to have a whole week under my belt... it is getting easier and easier and hopefully this weekend will not
prove to be my undoing, I am tired of seeing the same number on the scale,
and the only way I can see it moving again is to be back on track all the time
today we are having a hot dog luncheon at work. I brought sauerkraut, and a piece of lc cheese cake, and strawberries, and watermellon...
having a hard time with weekends, and stuff that shows up at work that I shouldn't eat....
trying to supress the "I can eat a little ofthat' voice by having the right foods around me all the time... yesterday afternoon, I wanted some chocholate, and
opted for some grapes I had on my desk, got up took a walk around the building and when I came back, didn't want any chocholate any more.... yeah
going to be home most of the weekend, monday I think we are going to a lake
front resort for the day (a sister resort to the one I go to in conroe) and treat a couple that took care of our garden while we were on vacation... looking forward to that.
sunday I have scheduled a massage for me.
looking forward to that also.

Way to go, Carolyn.....detouring around that chocolate. You are not the only one hearing the voices! I had a bad day yesterday, but back on track today. It's just not worth it to eat the junk. Have a good weekend. (Maybe we'll get some rain!)

I have made it thru 8 days cheat free, and I guess i feel like I am back on track.... some days were harder than others, but planning got me thru it, I can't stress that enough... having what I want to eat with me at all times...
that helps...
more later

I decided to post my goals for the rest of the year....
I want to lose another 25 lbs by christmas time....
I want to continue with my exercise regime, and add something new every month... this month it is the spinning class, last month I added lunch workouts on tuesday and thursday (which I am continuing this montH)
I want to go 100 days no sugar, cheat free.... I am on day 9 today....
thats all... nothing big, just eat right, drink lots of water, exercise and by
christmas i will have lost those lbs I want to....

I am making this committment to my self to stop struggling with right and wrong food choices....I am only going to make right choices... wrong foods do not exist in my world any longer....sugar doesn't exist in my world any longer, and the sooner I keep that foremost in my mind the easier it will be to get to my goals....

Its funny, I don't miss potatoes, rice, white bread, buns, but i want that sugar stuff... not just candy, but donuts, sodas, anything sweet - ice cream...eating the lc variety just make me want to eat other things I don't need to eat....
