| My boss, Neil, says that we ought to have to pay a cover charge to work here simply for the entertainment value. He's right. My first week of working here, the owner of the company, Steve, was sitting on the toilet in his office bathroom and sat there so long he fell asleep, fell off the toilet, hit his head, and had to get 8 stitches. I laughed 'til I couldn't. Steve had to have an operation on his foot last November and is still wearing a "walking cast". His 35-year-old son, Stevie, is home for a few weeks from Iraq and staying with his Mom and Dad. Steve came to work Monday morning limping more than usual. I asked him what was the matter. He said that he hurt his sore foot by kicking Stevie, and ended up in the emergency room Sunday morning. Well, I couldn't let that one go and I bit. The following conversation ensued: "Why did you kick Stevie, Steve?" "Because he set the grass on fire." "How did he set the grass on fire, Steve?!" "He threw down a lit cigarette on the lawn and the grass is dry, and he caught it on fire." "So, you kicked him with your BAD foot?!" "Yeah. They called the paramedics after the firemen left." So, this morning I come into work and I'm making a pot of coffee and Steve arrives. He says that he has to leave at lunch time and will be gone the rest of the day. I asked why. "I have to have testing done." "What kind of testing?" "I'm getting my equilibrium levels checked because I keep falling off the toilet." Folks, this is what I deal with, day in, day out. It doesn't get any better than this.

| Thanks for stopping by, Rob. Yeah, my boss is a never-ending source of amusement for me. For instance, Steve came to work yesterday morning and had several scratches on his face. Neil (my other boss) happened to be at my work station adjusting the paper feed on the dot matrix printer. I asked Steve how his weekend was, but didn't dare ask him about the scratches on his face. He told me that he had gone to the grocery store on Sunday because he likes to shop. He came home and was putting things into the refrigerator when, all of a sudden, he fell into the fridge. He actually fell into the fridge! He said all of the glass shelving inside and all of the metal brakets holding the shelving came tumbling down with his weight, an entire bottle of prune juice broke and spilled all over the carpet, and when he was trying to extricate himself from the innards of the fridge, he slipped and fell on the carton of eggs and broke them all over the floor and hurt his bad foot again. His wife, Mary Beth, was so upset about the mess that she banned him from the house for several hours. I asked him if the scratches on his face were from the fall into the fridge and he said: "No, I was just a little agitated and so I started scratching my face, waiting for Mary Beth to let me back into the house." Neil was laughing so hard at this point that he could barely breath. Steve's other son, Andrew, who happens to be the plant manager at work, came around the corner and asked what all the hubbub was about and all I said was: "What do a bottle of prune juice, a dozen eggs, a refrigerator, and your Dad all have in common?" Steve got angry and left for lunch. He was supposed to meet with a customer at a local restaurant, but I suppose he was so agitated that he forgot about it because the customer called at 12:37pm and left a message that Steve had stood him up for lunch. *sigh* I just wake up every day and wonder what the new day will bring. Kind of exciting, actually.

| I'm locking this journal and have started a new one, which you can find here. Special thanks to everyone who helped me make it through the end of 2004. It was a rough ride, but I made it.
