Officially started Atkins 3/18/02 / 45 pounds lost in 6 months / Stall began in September 2002 / faithfully stayed on plan, no loss / started weight lifting / no loss.

I have endured a 1+ year stall and I'm sick of it! I decided Atkins wasn't for me. So on 11/26/03 I started CALP. I did good, the 1st month I lost 6 pounds! Holidays came, I blew it. As of 1/5/04 I've restarted, I lost 6 of the 8 holiday pounds I gained (I gain weight quickly!) So I'm starting at square 1 again.

My 20 year class reunion is next year and I want to look goooood! I can't let 2004 be a waste, I already lost 1 year. I hope CALP will get my weight loss going again. I have to be patient, I have to be persistent and deal with family gatherings in a positive way with willpower and determination. I will start exercising more. I have Leslie Sansone walking tapes and I like to do the 2 mile, gets a sweat going!

I'm going to post my menus daily except weekends (no computer at home).

    Monday:
    b: 5 slices turkey bacon / celery
l: cucumbers & feta cheese / 4 slices deli ham
    d: large salad / 2 hot dogs no buns / 3/4 cup cauliflower w/melted cheese / 1/4 cup yams / 3 tbsp chocolate chips.

Today: my weight dropped 1 1/2 pounds from yesterday. (I won't post my weight, yet).

    Hi Karen,
Just popped in to say hi! You know, that's another thing we have in common...1 whole wasted year! I feel the same way, girl. I can't let 2004 pass me by without having some success here! I re-inducted on Atkins, starting Dec.26, and am down 5 pounds. It's harder this time; if only I hadn't got lured by those stinkin LC Bars and choc last year, I might would've had better success. But, we can't live on would've and could've, so we just need to give it our best shot!
I am thinking if and when I get to rolling along with some more pounds off, I will probably switch back to CALP.
Good Luck to us BOTH...this has GOT to be our year! Come visit my journal if you want

Hi Shelley! Great job on the 5lbs gone! We can do this, I know it

Yesterday I did well on my WOE. No snacks between meals and got quite a bit of water in. I didn't count the ounces because I left my 25 ounce drinking bottle in my car and didn't want to go out in the sub zero weather to get it So I drank out of a 16 ounce cup and didn't count them, oh well, today will be better, I remembered my cup!

My weight is 1 1/2 lbs less than yesterday, yeah me!

b: 2 small sausage patties / 1 cup cauliflower w/melted cheddar (boy that was good!)

l: 2-3 cups lettuce / 4 slices deli ham / sprinkle of cheddar cheese / 3/4 of small cucumber / couple tbps of mayo as dressing.

    d: 2 cups of lettuce w/dressing / 1 grilled chicken patty w/cheese / 1 cup broccoli / 1 LC Thomas bagel / 1 tbsp mayo
Dessert: 1 LC Carbsense brownie w/scoop of ice cream.

I have a training class this afternoon and have to eat lunch early, I'm afraid I'll get hungry since it will probably be 6 hours between meals and I won't be able to have a snack in between. Will have to chug the water

Looking forward to dinner today (Hamburger Soup!) First time I've made it, hope it tastes good.

    Til tomorrow.....

It's Thursday already, this week has gone fast! I think I did pretty good yesterday. I'm not sure about my RM but I felt like I didn't overeat.

My weight today is the same as yesterday.

b: 3 slices of CALP Cinnamon bread (essentially a revolution roll put in a loaf pan) / Coffee

l: 2 cups lettuce / sprinkle of parm cheese / ceasar dressing / 8 oz deli turkey

s: 3 short slim jims at my training class

d: 2+ cups lettuce / 1 cup of hamburger soup which contained celery, corn, hamburger, potatoes, carrots. The amount of potatoes, carrots and corn in my 1 cup portion was minimal, I tried to get more hamburger.
Grilled cheese sandwich made with LC bread
Dessert: 1 LC brownie w/scoop of ice cream.

I should have had more veggies with my dinner but I was too full, wasn't in the mood for more food.

Water - at least 1 gallon.

It's been quite a few days since I checked in! I don't have a computer at home and I haven't been at work for a bit. Got snowed in on Thursday night/Friday and then my son came down with the flu. So back to work today!

I've been doing really well staying on plan. Surprisingly...from Friday to Saturday mornings weigh, I dropped 3 Lbs! I have no idea where that came from! I swore the scales were wrong and I didn't want to write the number down in my book. So I weighed some sugar, it was right! But, from Saturday, my weight has slowly creeped up again by 2 lbs and I attribute it to very little water intake. When I'm home it's so hard to drink it.

My menu from Monday is like this:

    b: 2 sausage patties / cauliflower w/cheese
l: 2+ cups of lettuce w/ 1/2 cuke / greek dressing and a little Feta cheese.
s: 1 Atkins Banana nut muffin
    d: 1 ribeye steak/ mushrooms / large salad probably 2+ cups / lc dessert.

What a week it's been. My son still is fighting this fever. Yesterday my mom called and said it was 105! I was so worried, she put him in lukewarm water and he was very willing to drink lots of ice cold liquids to help bring it down. It was still 104 when I got there at 5pm. He's still warm this morning, my ear thermometer quit working, luckily my mom has one and he's with her again today. I can't take a lot of time off work, it takes so long to build up time off! Hoping today will be the last of this.

Good news, my weight is 1 lb less than yesterday, average weight loss since Saturday is 3 pounds! Here is what I ate yesterday.

b: 2 sausage patties w/ 2 slices of swiss melted.
    l: 2+ cups of lettuce / 3 slices deli turkey / 2 slices swiss cheese / 1/2 cuke / ranch dressing.

d: Smart Ones low carb dinner (was very late getting home, needed something quick), large salad and a lc dessert
The bad thing I did, due to a stressful situation my mom was going through I ate 3 chocolate covered cherries before I ate dinner (outside my 1 hr rm) bad, bad, bad. I'm a stress eater, I have no reason to have done that, I wasn't hungry, they just happened to be staring me in the face at the time. Hopefully it won't hurt me in the coming days.

    Karen,
So sorry to hear about your son...man, that's tough to have a fever that high. Has he been to the Dr. yet? Hope he's better soon.
You are in the groove, girl! I am happy for you! I may have to join you on CALP soon; 2 of my pounds have found me again...dang it. Makes me think I am back to my old ways...lose 2, gain 2, lose it, gain it....on and on and on....aarrgghh! Anyway, I may switch over Feb 1st, if I don't get a whoosh soon
    Have a good week

    HI Shelley,

The doctor said these kids are getting real high fevers, so we're waiting it out. Nothing he could give him. He's better today, I haven't heard anything from my mother yet today, so no news is good news.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm setting small goals for myself, 10 lbs at a time. I find that I don't teeter too much on Calp. It may go up a 1/2 pound each day for 2 days, but then it goes right back down.

Hopefully you find what works, I am enjoying Calp, so much less stress in wondering what to eat. I also find I'm not spending the money on LC treats and high carb replacements because I don't need them now. I just wait for my RM and have a small treat or a LC dessert that I've made. Now that I've got my holiday weight off we'll see if I can get below my lowest so far.

I'm so relieved it's friday! I was out of work yesterday, my son woke up with a 102.5 fever! Grandma couldn't take him, so I had to stay home again. I think his fever broke finally yesterday afternoon, this a.m. he was normal and I sent him off to school. Let's hope the nurse doesn't call me today!!

Been doing good on my WOE. I weighed today and I have lost 2.79 lbs this week! Yeah me! I love averaging, I get a much clearer picture of my progress.

    Yesterday I ate:

b: 1 hamburger / 3/4 cup cauliflower w/ cheese / dollup of sour cream on my hamburger (strange, but kind of good!)

    l: cottage cheese

d: Taco salad made up of 3 cups lettuce (give or take) / 1 cup homemade chili / 1 roma tomato / sprinkle of cheddar cheese / dollup of sour cream / 8 low carb soy tortilla chips

Dessert: skinny cow ice cream sandwich
Water - I don't know exactly, but I'd say close to a gallon.

I won't be checking back in until Monday.

The weekend went fast! My son is feeling better, he still has a cough. My daughter started complaining of a sore throat, but I can never tell if she's faking or not, she's a very good actress! At 5 she ought to be in commercials or something

TOM arrived on Saturday and with it, major bloat and cramping. I exercised Saturday and Sunday, walked 2 miles each day with Leslie Sansone.

Sunday I woke up and weighed. OMG, my weight was 7 lbs heavier than Saturday. Can you believe that!! I was so bloated that my fingers were swollen and itched! I've never had that happen before. I was miserable all day, tried to drink lots of water. My mom, sister, my niece and my daughter all went to Walmart and then to Arby's for a salad. When I got home I was sick - the feeling I get when I eat eggs. Kind of like indigestion but worse. I took 8 Gaviscon in the course of 2 hours and started feeling better around dinner so I decided to try to eat something. Afterwards the sick stomach started in again and as quick it came, it went at about 9pm. Strange. I almost went to the bathroom to make myself sick so that I could get out whatever was causing the stomach upset. But I didn't. I think the salad did it. Guess I'll be wary of Arby's salads from now on.

This is what I ate Sunday:
b: omelet w/ cheese (only ate 1/2 of it) 3 slices of turkey bacon

    l: dreaded Arby's salad w/ranch dressing

    d: 1 cup tomato soup / grilled cheese / a few crackers / 1 chocolate chip cookie
Not balanced I know, but I couldn't bring myself to balance it, I just didn't feel like it.

My weight this morning is down 2 pounds from yesterday, hopefully starting to lose the water weight gain. I am taking Diurex to help with that. It is frustrating when TOM comes because I have to work so hard that week to get the water weight gain off. Feels like I lose an entire week just to TOM.

Well, I should have known....Monday I started with a sore throat. My daughter had a high temp that night. The next morning I woke up at 3am with such a sore throat I couldn't stand it. I'm prone to strep and I knew that's what it was. So off to the doctor went my daughter and myself. Low and behold, we both had strep!

3 days off work and I'm back today, feeling 100% better. Boy that wipes me right out. I didn't eat much while I was sick, when I did get something down, it wasn't what I was supposed to eat because I couldn't swallow well and eating lettuce just was not in the cards!

Happy to report I lost 1 pound this week, actually due to TOM arriving Saturday and my weight ballooning up 7 pounds, I've really lost 8 lbs. All the TOM weight, plus 1 more.

    Back to plan today.

Thanks Shelley I'm feeling back to normal now. I made it through the weekend eating properly and happy to say that I've maintained my weight from Friday which is a success in itself.

Here is what I ate Sunday:

    b: none - just coffee
    l: 1 can tuna w/3 tbsp mayo / 3 slices bacon crumbled
    d: 2 cups lettuce w/ 1/2 cuke / 4 breaded chicken chunks / cauliflower / 1/2 cup baked beans / handful of M&M's for dessert

I drank a lot of water, doubt I drank a gallon but it's always hard on the weekends to get it in.

    I exercised - walked 2 miles w/ Leslie
