I hate this leap frogging weather. Yesterday was kinda chilly, today the high is 57, tomorrow the high is supposed to be 31, with rain sleet snow happening. So i got in an hour 25 minute walk today so I wouldn't feel guilty when i can't walk tomorrow. I've only skipped 4 days so far in january and that's a record for me. Usually in winter I'm lucky to walk twice a week. have already walked 57 miles this month and that's damned good for winter. My goal was 50 to 60 and it looks like I'll exceed it. am finishing up th e leftover pot roast from last night for dinner today. Will add some sour cream to the gravy and call it stroganoff.

Just stopped in to tell you that I made the lasagna this weekend! All I can say is that my family has a new weekend meal called "Rob's Lasagna". It was so good!
Thanks!
I may have eaten to much of it though!

Good luck all!!

Yes I know Seesko. hard to resist. I had a piece of my last lasagna for lunch today and thank goodness it was the last piece left in the freezer. This one was made with zucchini and low carb fettuccini.

The snow stinks. I can't get up the hill because it's a sheet of ice. So I've been stuck in the house for 2 days. Will get out tomorrow if i have to walk somewhere. Luckily I have plenty of food. Or maybe not so lucky. I've been eating all low carb stuff but I had my second lunch of the day at 2:00 and my dinner at 4:35. Now I'm ready for second dinner. Summer asked me if I was a Hobbit. You remember the line from the first movie about second breakfast?
all this eating and I haven't walked since saturday. I'll be amazed if I have any loss this week. Though I have 5 more days to counteract today and yesterday.

Hi Rob! Wanted to drop in real quck to tell you that you are one of my favorite posters AND to say that the "slurp 'em up cabbage noodles" are a GREAT veggie addition to that stroganoff. I did a ground beef and mushroom stroganoff the other day WITH the cabbage noodles (for dinner guests, no less) and it was a huge hit... everyone had seconds - including one of the wives (tiny thing, eats like a bird, probably weighs 80 pounds soaking wet, etc).

Cheers to you! (it's low carb beer!)

Hugs,
Rachel

Thanks Rachel! Glad you could stop by. I enjoy your posts too. I love those slurp em up cabbage noodles. Maybe too much; a large head of cabbage only lasts me four meals. But cabbage is low carb. That ground beef mushroom stroganoff sounds really good.

I got my car out today and up the steep hill outside my condo. I could smell burning rubber when I got to the top but I had to get out for a little while. Roads were pretty clear but walmarts parking lot was a disaster. I replaced my coffee grinder which I'm happy about. My old one gave up the ghost a few weeks ago and I haven't been able to have flax seed cereal since. I will walk tomorrow!

Hiya Rob!
Heard any good jokes lately?...LOL
Well, glad you were able to de-hibernate today...hehe. I also got out and about; our roads were fine, just the darn wind chill of 5 degrees was enough to make me scurry from the parking lot into the grocery store like a mad woman
Have a good walk tomorrow...try to stay vertical!

Rob! glad you replaceed that grinder... I would be in the same boat. I find there are lots of mornings (and mind you I love eggs) when I just want a bowl of warm flaxseed meal with a little cream. I brought 25 pounds of Bob's Red Mill out here with us... we'll see how long it lasts and whether I'll have to have my mom buy more eventually and send it out!

Shelley- yes I heard a real good one.
This weather has to go. They've closed the schools for 5 days because of 4 inches of snow.
I forget who posted it but in upstate new york they had 12 inches of snow and they only delayed the start of school. Of course The south doesn't have much snow removal equipment and their budget for snow is a fraction of a northern cities.
Rachel - Doesn't Georgia have a warmer climate than most people assume. Something about being protected from the north winds by rthe Caucasus?
Yes That flax meal cereal has been part of my breakfast every morning since I got the new grinder. I usually have it 2 or 3 times a week but this cold has me wanting it daily. 25 pounds sounds like a lot but eventually it'll run out. How much longer are you expecting to stay in Tsibili? I made hamburger stroganoff for dinner last night. Very good. used baby bella mushrooms.

Only managed a 21 minute walk yesterday. The weather was fine but the ground was covered in ice and snow. Between all the eating from boredom and the lack of exercise I'll be satisfied with maintaining my weight this week but I think I'll have a gain. was up 2.5 pounds from sunday to thursday. But a lot of water weight there.

Hi Rob!
Hope you have a swell super bowl Sunday
It should be a good game; and if it's not, then the commercials should be entertaining at least...LOL
Have a good one

Rob! Good for you on the geography issue... I hate to say but living overseas we meet many people who believe Americans know nothing about the world (which is, sadly, mostly true) so it is such a proud moment for me every time an American proves that belief wrong!

We are, in fact, just south of the Caucasus and the climate here is delightful... We have four seasons and they are rich and full of their colors and beauty. We are having an extremely mild winter which is very nice for us after last winter in the US (NJ) where we had snow off and on from Halloween through Easter.

We are hoping to be here through Spring of 2006 - although in the international development business nothing is sure - we could be leaving next month, we could extend through 2009, who knows... the US government is pretty unreliable - especially with its contractors.

I am doing my best to make the flaxseed last so that I am not forced to carry pounds of it back in my carry-on at some point. There are lots of foods that I miss out here. I shouldn't complain, the selection is much better than it was in both Bosnia and Bangladesh, but... I miss broccoli and celery - can you believe it, neither of those foods. Tough on LC without something crunchy like celery.

Your stroganoff sounded marvellous - I love mushrooms of all kinds - one of the other things I brought out here with me was pounds of dried porcini mushrooms - yummy!

Good for you on the walking, BTW. A while ago I asked DH not to smoke anymore, ever (he hasn't actually been a smoker for years but still has a terrible jones). He agreed but this morning asked me to please start exercising again. He's done as much for me so I need to do back. He says he wants me around as long as he is and if he's not smoking he plans to be around a LONG time

Hope your weather is getting more reasonable!

Hugs,
Rachel

Hey shelley thanks. I did enjoy it right up to the time my team blew the championship in the last 4 seconds. But I'm proud of them they done good going from a 1 and 15 record 2 seasons back to coming so close this year. How's the plan coming?

Rachel- yes Americans are geographically illiterate for the most part. Many have little idea about U.S. geography. I'm no whiz either but I had a friend years ago who was Russian and he would go back to all different parts of the then USSR as well as China and he'd give me all sorts of information I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. He ended up marrying a Chinese girl on one of his trips.
They really don't have broccoli or celery? That's odd, especially no celery. What do they have that you can have? Great idea starting an exercise program. My walking is slowed down so much the past week plus. And tomorrow they predict an ice storm. I've started an aerobics tape exercise program but I have to do it on a schedule. Right now I'm just doing it when I feel like it and I haven't felt like it since Friday.
Spent a day and a half unable to get online. That was a pain. I had withdrawal symptoms from this website. And when I did get back I had so much catching up to do between this site and my 4 email accounts and downloading stuff thast got lost when my computer crashed. Things are only now starting to get back to normal.

Hey Rob! I replied to you on the weig in post, but it occurred to me that you may not go back to that post. I just wanted to congratulate you on finding a way to work out. I know you like to walk, and when it got to cold you could have just said forget exercise, but you didn't. I commend you trying aerobics. Here is my tip. Pick a couple fun tapes that challenge you just enough. I know it might sound mean, but I used to enjoy making fun of the instructors peppiness. I particularly like Denise Ausin. It is a good tape and it is fun to pick on her. I know I'm weird, but some friends of mine said that they tried it and it helped them get through the workout.
Anyway, thanks for inspiring me to get out the old tapes.
Congrats on the weight loss this week.

Good luck all!!

Thanks seesko, i did see your reply in the weihj-in thread. Unfortunately I've pulled a muscle in my back and all i can do is walking.
The snow is mostly gone after the rain yesterday but has left the ground so muddy that walking is slow and messy. I managed to do an hour walk by sticking mostly to paved areas at the park. But it's supposed to rain again tomorrow so the mud will deepen.

Made a sirloin tip roast tonight and it was excellent. I was planning on having leftovers for days but I ate so much tonight It might only last for tomorrow;s lunch and dinner. well it was only 2 pounds. Beef prices are good this week. Every store has beef on sale. Lots of different cuts too! Wish I could have afforded the ribeye roast but my sirloin tip roast was $5.00 and the Ribeye roast was $35.00.

Hi Rob!

I picked up a tri-tip the other day, 1.75 pounds. Roasted it with Rosemary... Yum!

I haven't seen general declining prices yet, but it was in the reduced meat bin

Oh and what is this about "weihj-in" -- is this similar to a widgit???

Blessings!
