I should have more confidence in my cooking ability. The ribs were delicious without any added sugar, exept i used fresh p0eaches and splenda as the sweetening agent. One little girl said I should be a chef.

These football sundays will have to go soon though. I won;t say how many ribs and chicken legs i ate but my protein for the day was 247 grams. Is anyone missing a cow?
Today I was so off on my food intake that i ran to walmart at 8:00 and bought lecarb ice cream and ate the entire pint on purpose. Still only had 1540 cal. 106g fat 33 net carbs. I walked the 7 miles around the lake again today and then had a nap so lunch was meager and dinner was a 7 ounce burger with crudite and ranch dip.
I haven't had any natures own bread in about a week. Am trying to eliminate it from my woe because i think it stalls me or at least causes cravings for more carbs. probably the wheat.
But I had a loaf in my cart today because i wanted a couple slices for my burger. But I left it on the banana shelf in produce.

Hi Rob, sounds like your doing good. I'm not a football fan myself, and I know that a good part of the whole deal is the food, but shouldn't it really be about the game??

Mona
absolutely it should be about the game! But snacks are always there in front of you when you do group get togethers to watch the games.
And habit and proximity makes you munch more than hunger dictates. It's like when I used to smoke, as soon as I started talking on the phone I lit up. Didn't matter when I had my last one. This is why I am thinking of skipping at least a good number of these games this year. Maybe go back for playoffs and Superbowl.

Man, I so know what you mean... I have the Sunday Ticket on Directv so every Sunday has the potential for about 11 hours of football. This last Sunday I made it through with 'only' two beers and some peanuts so I figured that was a victory. Monday we went to Hooters for MNF and I had wings and diet coke, that was a big act of willpower!

I guess my advice would be to host your friends for football so you can control the foods. Failing that, sit in a chair that's away from wherever the snacks are and fill up before you go. I wouldn't give up the football, just make it more inconvenient to grab something and munch while you watch.

Hope you don't get blown away tomorrow, let us know how you make out!

dano - Can't have it at my place because we chipped in for direct ticket too at Gary's. I don't have satellite. Condo association charges $100 to put a dish on the roof.
Hard to sit away from the food in a 12 by 12 room when the foods in the middle. I am going tomorrow. If i quit going I can still catch the panthers on my own tv. and the other game as well. But it's not as much fun is it?

The hurricane passed by uneventfully. some 45 mph gusts, a lot of rain but no hardships.

walking thsi week has gone okay. skipped 2 days. one because of Isabel. But I've walked 65.75 miles so far in september. with 10 days to go it looks like I'll meet my challenge of 75 to 80 and surpass it.
I cut out the nature's own bread about 11 days ago and tomorrow is weigh-in day. Will this make a difference?

Average daily carbs for the past week- 43 g
average calories -1950
average fat grams - 103

Funny how calories almost always average just under 2000. that's not planned it just happens naturally.

Febe-I agree temperatures make a difference.

Yesterday's football get together was alot of fun even if my team had a BYE week. The food was dangerous though. It was teh hosts birthday and there was a lot of food. I made sausage and cream cheese stuffed mushroomns and spinach sausage dip (with the leftover mushroom stuffing). My sister made a sausage cream cheese sour cream hot dip which was excellent.
The hostess made a spinach dip with crudites that was really good. she also made a lasagna and a peach and an apple pie. hot french bread abounded. Beer everywhere. what was a low carber to do? I ate too much but I picked the low carb stuff and passed up the sweet stuff and didn't touch the lasgana and bread. but 12 beers, even if they're miller lites, will mount up carb-wise and calorie wise. My estimate for yesterday was 3600 calories and 73 carbs net. It could definitely have been worse but it would've been better if I hadnt gone.

Thanks Febe!

I won't reach 105 miles in my walking this month but I didn't intend to. I set a goal of 75 to 80 for september. I'm at 85.75 as of today after walking 7 miles around the lake. 4 days left I can prolly hit 95 easily enough.

calories this week were a bit higher than usual -2300. but net carbs of 46 are about right. Had my first ever over 200 gram fat day today because of the pizza quiche with pepperoni. made and ate 1/2 a recipe. I'm not worried about one day since my overall fat for the week was 62% of calories including this fat fest. just glad I didn't make a full recipe expecting leftovers. It was too good to leave any.

Yes febe that pizza quiche is not showing up here either for a while. Or maybe It'll be
pizza non grata.

walked 100.75 miles in september even though i skipped 8 days. A little over 4.5 mile average walk. So why am I not losing more? Because I continue to do some of the things I know I can't get away with. cream cheese heavy cream and tons of cheese all in one meal. what was I thinking. Any one of these would stall me. I just never could tolerate foods with a high fat density. Not that I have to watch fat. I have to make sure i balance it out. I lost 6.5 pounds in september and that's not too bad. So why am I complaining? Because with all the walking I could have done better. I could have done worse too though. October tomorrow. Fall.
I have already researched some hiking trails on or near the blue ridge parkway. At least once in October I want to take sophie and do a nice long hike when the leaves are at peak hopefully.

With last weigh-in's 0 loss I am a little discouraged. I think my body wants to stay at this weight (250) and is going to give me grief if i try to lose more. 60 pounds lost is about where i stalled in 1999 after 6 months on protein power. I don't know how long i played around with the same 5 to 10 pounds lost and gained but it took a full year to lose an additional 30 pounds. slow!
It's partially (if not mostly) my fault. I've been doing lots of things I know stall me, even though it was all low carb food I "cheated" with. It's time to take the bull by the horns and buckle down and stop self defeating behavior. So no more cream cheese, nuts, heavy cream and cut back on the cheese. 4 ounces is too much for me. And even if i eat an eight ounce bar of cream cheese over 4 days (like last week) it always stalls me. same with cream.
yet I can eat a pound of beef every night for the whole week (but don't usually) and will have some kind of loss. So It doesn't have to be a hardship, there are still many things I can have that are very satisfying.

For the second month in a row I achieved 100+ miles in my walking for september. I only lost 6 and 1/2 pounds though and feel if i had myself more in control I would have lost a lot more. But i'll take 6 1/2 pounds and be grateful.

I met Kim (Emelia) for lunch yesterday and had a very good time. we will have to do this regularly.

Hi Rob!
I think SBD may be the right one for me...(hope, hope, hope)LOL!
I have dropped 3.5 since Oct 1st! And reading your post about the cream cheese, cheese and nuts...it sounds like my pattern when I wasn't losing. South Beach calls for a little less fat and I think that's what's working for me<crosses fingers>.

Thanks febe and Shelley for stopping by.

I gave up the cream cheese, the nuts and cut back on the cheese this week. In addition I skipped going to the Sunday football get together with all the fattening snacks and the beer inches away from me. And guess what?
I LOST 3 POUNDS!!!!!
Yes 3 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess my walking is starting to show results; Maybe? who the he** knows what causes a 3 pound loss really.
but I walked 29 miles this week (sun. thru sat.) and I guess that probably helped about 1/2 a pound loss of the 3. According to fitday walking those 29 miles burned up 2100+ calories over and above what I would have burned being my usual couch potato self. so 2100/3500 (calories in a pound) = .6 pounds. But then there's the metabolic boost they talk about. Is it real for me. I have no idea. Let's not forget that last weigh in I didn't have a loss.

Rob does the Happy Dance!!
310/247/180 almost half way to goal
