Rob,

Hi there I just HAD to peek at your journal because I just love your subtle sense of humor. I noticed what you did at fit-day and thought WOW what a great idea!!!!! I haven't been keeping track of my foods at all but that will be my New Years resolution. You found a great way to really investigate plateaus, and while I'm recovering from knee surgery I will have mucho time on my hands to get started and make it a habit. Thanks. You are doing sooooo well....Have a great Christmas and Hope you don't mind me lurking around your journal.

Febe: Lol I do have too much time on my hands. But i find if i'm not diligent in tracking my food I start to slip up. Kind of like eating when no one's watching, The calories don't count. {{{HUGS}}} AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Becki
You're very welcome to peruse my journal. If there was anything in it I didn't want known I wouldn't put it ona public forum.
Good plan for the New year. I don't know if it's helped me but it makes me feel like I have some sort of control over this journey of weight loss. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU!!!

Hey there Rob, First I want to thank you for the many times you have come to my rescue. I love your sence of humor and your sound advice. I noticed what you did on Fitday and was just wondering... why did you start counting calories and do you think this made a big difference in your weight loss? I was kind of analyzing what you wrote and it still looks like you were losing the most weight when your carb count was lower.I have been at this woe since 11/12/03 and have lost 28 so far. Should I start counting calories too? I kinda hope not cause I like to keep it as simple as possible. I hate it when I start obsessing about what I eat but hey if you say I need to do it I will do it. I still have a whole lot to lose and I want to lose it more than anything. Also, did you start walking when you first started this woe? I am still so heavy my back gives me fits just standing much less walking. I appreciate you. Have a wonderful Christmas. Anita

Thanks Febe!
I'll be over to your journal in a bit.

Anita; I don't think calories need to be counted as long as you're losing. I just kept track of calories, first on a handwritten journal and then on fitday. Force of habit mostly. And I never made a food choice based on anything other than the carb count. Now I track calories because fitday does it anyway. If calories do count in a major way then I'm in big trouble the past few days. LOl. CAn't wait for the holidays to be over. LOL

I reduced my net carb intake over the past few days and so far no loss. But I haven't given it enough time. And today I am up a pound but I know that's from the 4 glasses of white wine and a lot of cheese I ate while making 4 pans of lasagna for everyone else. It was very tempting to eat some and I munched on the leftover mozzarella and ricotta cheeses to compensate. so a pound isn't bad considering. It will hopefully be gone by weigh-in day sunday. Though Christmas dinner will be Ham and that means salt bloat. I will have to be very very good friday and saturday.

Past 7 days food intake averaged 40 grams net carbs, 2150 calories, 125 grams fat. Protein is still too high due to 2 days of Holiday get togethers this week. Just today and New Years to get through and I can get on with it.

Ummmm, as long as I was off plan, I would have really liked to be a recipent of one of those pans of lasagna
But, alas, I'm beyond that now...hehe!
Hope you and Sophie had a good Christmas!

Thanks shelley - I really wish I could have had some of that lasagna. I think I'll make a small pan of low carb lasagna with the leftover cheese and sauce. Sophie got all excited as I gave her her gifts. I purposely hid all her rawhide chews for the past month. Then gave her new ones for Christmas. Her eyes got wide with each gift and she licked and chewed each bone for 5 minutes and went upstairs and came back without it. I figured she was "burying" them.
Went to bed last night and had to pull all the chewies out from between the sheets. LOL

As i figured I am up 2 pounds this morning. But it's from the ham and the wine and the mini quiches. I didn't do bad with carbs. I estimate net carbs were 63. I can live with that. It would have been far worse if I had eaten the potatoes. So I'm trying to drink as much water as I can possibly choke down but It's been hard.
I have decided to begin my new years resolutions today to ab\void the new years rush.

Thanks Sharron. She is a funny dog. Yesterday I went to walk a friend's dog that was out of town and Sebastian (golden retriever) tried to mount her every 3 minutes. Sebastian outweighs sophie by 30 pounds but when Sophie finally got fed up she went after sebastian with a vengeance. Poor sebastian was running away with his tail between his legs. I thought I heard sophie say something about inappropriate touching.
I'm trying to conquer the Holiday bloat/weight gain and yesterday was day one.
I walked 5 miles and reduced my calorie intake by a few hundred over normal. I lost one pound of that bloat and hope I can get rid of more by tomorrow's weigh-in. I might wait to weigh in until Monday, I think it would more accurately reflect what I actually weigh. If I lose 1 1/2 pounds of this water weight by weigh-in day, that will put me at my weight the previous weigh-in. So at best I'm looking forward to no loss. The Holidays, the way we celebrate them, at least, are really a challenge.
Time for Breakfast.

You're absolutely right Febe! No 20 pound gain!!
I was recording my one pound loss this morning in my log and at first I was disappointed that I have only lost 3 pounds in the past 5 weeks. But I quickly remembered which 5 weeks I was talking about. Man, I do not think I have ever lost any weight in december in my life. Even when I was losing well on protein power in 98 I stayed even during the holidays. I thank this site for keeping me motivated and encouraged.

ummmmm, Rob?
Are you having insomnia again or are you an early bird lately???...LOL
Good going on the loss for Dec. If I can drop another couple of pounds this month, then I will "break even" which would make me happy!
