I've decided to take the plunge and start a journal. I've been keeping one in a small three subject notebook for a while and think that typing my feelings/eating habits and getting feed back will be more beneficial.

Unfortunately, today is not a good day. My boyfriend of three years and I broke up last night. I'm quite numb but saw this coming. It's very hard to admit to yourself that the "inner voice" that's knocking on your door, is mostly speaking the truth.

It'll be hard, especially with my last final on Wednesday night, but I'm going to try my damndest to stay on track with locarb and exercise.

Today so far:
2 cups of green tea
2 eggs with 2 slices of bacon and 2 sausages
50oz of H20
I brought a salad for lunch which includes 1 cup of spinach, 1/2 of broccoli, 1/2 of cauliflower, 2oz of grilled chicken and 5 asparagus - topped with creamy italian dressing
I'll drink another 50oz of H2o this afternoon

Possibly go to the gym tonight before bed to sooth nerves.

Doing well...cheated once. Had a small slice of french bread from Whole foods...roommate bought an entire baguette HOT FRESH and RIGHT OUT OF THE OVEN...

No gym and little water. Unfortunately, due to the breakup, I'm not eating too much.

Today:
B/L: Can of Tuna, mayo, like of pickle on locarb toast, Sugar- free tang, and green tea
D: Chicken Taco Salad with guac, sour cream

Starting to study for my international health final...wish me luck (it's on Wednesday)

Today is a nasty day in DC...rain, sleet and snow. I'm at the library studying for my final and hope my concentration level is up from yesterday.

That being said I've been good in sticking with locarb and tonight after my review session, I plan on going to the gym for about an hour. Definitely need the endorphin boost!!

Menu:
B - 2 slices of locarb toast and 1 fried egg
L - tuna, mayo and a tblspoon of onion
D - grilled chicken with green beans

Well, didn't go to the gym yesterday. Hopefully, I'll go tonight and sit in the steam room. Break up is hitting me hard and I'm a bit of an emotional basketcase.

Eating well and sticking to LO Carb.

Today:
B - 2 strips of bacon and lo carb toast w/ butter
L - non sweetened coconut soup with chicken
D- Chicken and veggies
100oz of H2O

Took a personal day off work today. REally needed to concentrate and study. Praying that it goes well, considering the test is tomorrow.

Definitely having a hard time with the breakup, but on the good side, have been staying lo carb. Although, I haven't been to the gym or been good about drinking my water.

If I had a wish, it would be that I could be home in Boston with my family and having a good soak in my parent's claw foot bathtub. Bubbles, wine, and good book...heaven.

Menu:
B - 1 slice lo carb toast with one tbs of peanut butter
L - Salad with grilled chix and blue cheese dressing
D - Grilled Chicken

I'm also fighting TOM and will weigh myself on Christmas eve.

Today's the day...final day that is. Really studied my best yesterday and will definitely look over my notes again this evening. Test at 6pm.

Going ok with the breakup, it'll be hard seeing him on Friday at my Christmas party!! Although, not thinking about that now.

Sticking to lo carb and will get my water in today.

So far:
B - 1 slice lo carb bread and 2 tbs of peanut butter
2 cups of green tea
L - spinach salad with broccoli, cauliflower, chix, green peppers, olives, and creamy italian dressing
D - remainder of salad and another tbs of peanut butter
100oz of H2O

Just joined the Valentine's day challenge. I'd like to drop my last 10. Don't know how realistic that is but at least I have a goal. Hey, even if I don't have a date for V-Day, I'll feel good about myself.

I'm quite tired today. I feel bloated b/c I haven't been drinking my water. Tonight is my Holiday Party and I'm really hoping it goes well lo-carb wise and ex-boyfriend wise. UHHH!! Tonight will be the first time I've seen him since the breakup and obviously I feel bloated!

I haven't gone to the gym! Maybe I'll go at lunchtime?? I know it will make me feel better but I feel a total lack of energy. Nonetheless, I'm not going to rule it out.

I'm in ketosis but haven't lost any weight -- probably do to the lack of water. These last 10 pounds are killing me.

Menu:
B-1 slice lo carb toast with 1tbs peanut butter
L - spinach salad w/ broccoli, cauli, peppers, tofu, deviled eggs, asparagus, and creamy italian
D - party? no idea. Won't cheat but will drink wine.

I would welcome any advice on my previous posted menus. Should I be doing something else to rid myself of the last 10?

The party went well. I cheated and had a couple lemon squares and krackle candies. They are so good...trying not to feel guilty. I'm not in ketosis and need to drink my water today. I'll accomplish that goal today.

Tired, weary, and just downright sad. If you can help it, don't end a 3 yr relationship during the holidays. It's tough.

Menu:
B - slice lo carb toast w/ 1tbs of peanut butter
L - salad w/ broccoli
D - ?
Water - 100oz
Gym - maybe

I'm going to weigh myself on Wednesday morning...hopefully the scale will have adjusted a bit!

One more day until weigh day!! I've waited over a month to weight myself and hope it has moved for the better!!!

Doing much better today...had a good, long cry last night and slept like a baby!

For dinner last night I had Chicken Panang from a great Thai food restaurant. They make it w/out sweetened coconut milk and it's fabulous.
Didn't go to the gym yesterday. I know I should and that it releases stress but I just haven't been going. Also, didn't drink my water yesterday. I got about 40oz in but aim for a minimum of 100oz.

I'm making a lo carb cheesecake for Christmas dinner! I'm excited to see how it turns out!

Menu:
B - green tea (forgot today..)
L - salad with broccoli and other veggies
D - ?
100oz h2o

Febe,

Thank you! Happy Holidays to you and your too!

Today is another good day. I'm not too down in the dumps emotionally and am really looking forward to leaving work at noon to fly home.

GOOD NEWS!! I lost a pound! Ok, I know that doesn't seem like much to most people but I don't lose weight easily but lose inches...so to see the one pound loss is fabulous!!

Hope everyone has a great Holiday

Menu:
B - slice lo carb toast and peanut butter
L - Atkins Lo Carb Shake
D - Christmas Eve party so no idea...but will be lo carb!

Hi Shannon,

I hope you have a great time with your family for the Holidays! You and I are at about the same point in our weight loss... the last bit is really hard!! I've been increasing my good carb veggies and decreasing my portions somewhat of higher fat items. It still satisfies me (no hunger pangs) and finally I'm losing more than a pound a month. I also stopped using the Atkins shakes... they're really convenient but I think they were also stalling me a bit.

Sorry to hear about your breakup. It's never easy but time will help ease the pain. (My marriage of 19 years ended during the Holidays in 1996.... of course I remember it, but I've moved on. Married the love of my life just 2 months ago )

Hang in there and keep doing what you need to do for your health... getting back to the gym would be a good thing....I gotta do that myself now that work pressure is easing off some.

Ginger

Life is NOT a dress rehearsal.

Ginger,

Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm having a wonderful time with my family BUT...have slipped up twice!! Ate on piece of Turtle cheesecake on Christmas Eve (it was absolutely fabulous!) and another piece of almond cheesecake on Christmas (not as good as the turtle but wonderful nonetheless!)...oh and today I had another spoonful of the almond. I'm not going to eat it anymore.

I'm home for another week and my mother got me a trial membership at the gym for the week. I'll go..kicking and screaming but I'll go.

Haven't gotten emotional about the breakup since I've been home. It's definitely helped being around my family and not alone in my apartment in DC.

Just finished my "day after Christmas shopping"..did GREAT...and realized that I've dropped another size! Which is motivation enough to stop eating the cheesecake!

Can't wait to start the V-Day challenge!! let's see if I can drop another!!

Menu:
B - 2egg omlette w/ red peppers, mushrooms and scallions and 3 sausage patties
L - Greek salad with Grilled Chicken
D - ?? Don't know, going over my aunt's house

Ginger, thanks again for the words of encouragement!

I like the new website design!! Looks fabulous!!

Doing well low carb wise...although, I feel bloated but that's due to not enough water intake. Going to the gym in a bit and will do 45 mins of cardio. I'm going to reward myself with a nice bubble bath!!

Menu:
B - 2 sausage links
L - Salad with pork
D - Steak and brussel sprouts in butter (yum!)
