Oh, Barb! What an awful thing to have happen! I am glad that he was not hurt MORE serioulsy! It is a good thing dil has help right now! {{{{Barb}}}}
Yep, Cindy, we are very thankful it wasn't any worse. Makes ya take stock of your life and be glad it isn't worse!!!!
We went to visit him today. He pretty drugged up with pain killers and it was kinda funny to have a conversation with him. His eyelids kept slidin' down and his eyes were rolling back, so we didn't stay too long. I hope he can get some good rest for a bit.

So glad he was wearing his seat belt. I have lived a good part of my life behind the wheel and seen many examples of those that do and those that don't post accident. I hope you manage a little quite time for your self as well. Great medicine that.
Seems to me a lot of auto accidents are caused because of fragmented concentration due to, too active of lifestyles.
Kids do have a hard time remembering to not climb up on a recovering trauma patient.
Perhaps a temporary over sized t-shirt with a bright color, like orange or any neon colored shirt, could be used, "As long as daddy is wearing this his tummy hurts. So we have to be gentle with his tummy."
Stephen, that's a good idea!!! Although the 18 month old won't get it, but the 3 yr old might. He may have to camp out on their second floor where the bathroom is so he won't have to navigate stairs. We'll see what the doc says.
Gotta run for Easter dinner.

I do hope your Easter went well. I wasn't even aware it was Easter until I saw Robs greetings. I'm healthy this week but rather single minded. Not often I can handle this level of analytical depth.

barb... so sorry to hear about your DS-S having an accident ... scary stuff... i hope he has a quick a full recovery...
man.. it IS scary how in one MOMENT your life can change ..
like i have been hearing allllllllllllllllllllll week long... it IS important to have a living will eh?
(no.. i dont have one.. call me miss hippocrite of the month.)
Barb I hope things are going much better. I really do.
Thanks guys!!! Had a nice Easter with the in-laws. I ate a little of my SIL's scalloped potatoes, can't resist them!!! And I had a teeny piece of cake MIL brought. The 3 yr old came with us, what a peach. She was SUCH a good girl.
DSS was released from hosp Mon. afternoon, came here for a bit and then went home. He had a rough night, pain and cold sweats, so he stayed here last night. He can stay with us as long as he needs to. There's still a lot of tension at his house, he doesn't need that. And he can sleep in peace and quiet here too. I am trying to get food down him, he hasn't eaten much since the accident. I am making pork roast, broccoli and noo-noo's (noodles) for the guys, I will have salad instead of the noo-noo's. He was skinny to begin with and can't afford to lose much weight. But I don't wake him when he's sleeping. The body does a lot of repair during sleep, so I think that's more important than waking him to make him eat. He can stay here as long as he needs.

After he has plenty of peace and quite you might have trouble getting him to go home.
Glad Easter went well for you. Nobody here in the hospital and that is rare when most everyone you know has manic-depression.
Talked with my aunt Wilma in New Mexico today. I do enjoy our conversations as she is the only relative I care to claim. If I met a woman like her I would of been married a long time ago.
Hi all,
He went home yesterday afternoon. I talked to him on the phone today. He's doing okay, still not up to par by any means. We think he might have either caught the roto-virus his little one had or is having diarrhea from the antibiotics they put him on upon his release from the hosp. His white cell count was high. I told him to keep an eye on his temp. He wants to go into work this weekend to get some administrative stuff done, nothing physical..........he's a maintenance manager at a big theater here where they have 30 screens. It feels like going to O'hare when you are there, with it's wings. It's gigantic. He has to have his wife drive him there, so someone will have to watch kids for them. I'm hoping HER mom will be able to watch them for a bit. I HAVE to get some more work done on this chair. It's due April 15th..............getting down to the wire. I got the pansies started, but still have to paint in the tulips, purple cone flowers and the fairies. And then it has to be varnished..............YIKESlots to do!!!!! I got it all set up in my upstairs "livingroom" so I don't have to put it all away when the babies come over. That always throws a wrench in the process and flow when you have to put it all away.

I'm confident you will finish the chair in plenty of time. Hopefully you find plenty of hours between here and there so you can enjoy the process.
I got the pansies done yesterday, complete with the shading and highlighting. Today I am going to dive into the purple coneflowers and tuliips. I found some old flower catalogs and will use the tulips in there as a model. There are some really striking ones in it. I might change the other flowers, since I don't have any really good pictures of the purple coneflowers. We'll see. I guess I'll just work on the tulips today. I want to try my hand at painting some water droplets on them too, but those are pretty tricky. Any time you are trying to replicate water, it's elusive. They have such perfect little highlights and shadows. I've been able to draw them, but have never tried to paint them. So we'll see about that.
The weather is getting nice here finally and I want to dig my bike out of the garage. I challenged myself to ride to the grocery store to buy steaks as a reward. I just need a basket or saddle bag rig for it. I don't think I have any backpacks lying around the house. But that would work too. We shall see.
