Cynthia - LOL Not I hate Rob's knees hill. This one is right outside my condo and is almost as steep as IHRKH but not nearly as long. Mary Kay - I hope yours stays just snow and doesn't interfere with your business trip. Kim - The pretty snow melted during the day, at least on the roadways but has refrozen tonight making the streets into ice skating rinks. And Just to make it all a complete mess the rain started and that is freezing as it hits the trees and roads. Not getting out any time soon. uphill is very hard until you get used to it. But you do get used to it eventually. Give it a try this spring even if you only make it half way up. I remember one ice storm from a couple winters back. There were these 4 35 to 40 foot pine trees lining the side of the hill. One by one over the course of an afternnon the ice became too much weight to bear for the trees and the top 10 feet cracked and fell into the road. MAN I never heard such a loud crack in my life. The trees had to be removed of course.

| rob.. i dont recall the YEAR.. but spokane (and surrounding areas) had a HUGE ice storm one year.. they lost TONS of trees ..it was horrific and unsettling to see that many HUGE trees drop like rocks... cracked and shattered all OVER that town... scary.. anywho.. i DID go uphill a few times.. thats when we (I) didnt know there was anything wrong with moon... and he couldnt do it.. so i quit.. and then when daughter2 started walking with me.. SHE didnt want to walk uphill... so we didnt... i am not against it ... just didnt feel like argueing .. still dont..*L* but when its nice again... and i take the baby for walks we ALWAYS go up hill..;-) i might not have mentioned that before.. stay IN and stay safe... | Yeah kim I know what you mean. I love trees and to see 70 year old oaks lying across teh road makes me sad. Walking by yourself isn't near as much fun but I bring sophie with me and she is just a joy to watch on the woods. I love trhe way when we round a bend and she's way out in front she'll double back to make sure I'm going that way. It may have something to do with me hiding behind trees when she was a puppy and she got too far away. It taught her to always be aware of where I am. And maybe because I'm her third owner she has abandonment issues? It wasn't as bad as I expected. Didn't rain all that hard or as long as they predicted. At least not right here. I see some water running down the hill so there must be some melting taking place. Maybe I will be able to get out in my car today after all. Not until mid afternoon when the temperature is supposed to reach a toasty 41 (if you like cold toast ;-)). Sun is peeking through the clouds so if I wait my car won't have to be scraped of its ice cover. I wish i possessed will power. Ate half a batch of low carb cinnamon muffins yesterday. that's like 1500 calories worth of Cr**. That's why I so very rarely make any low carb mixes. Oh well these were the first muffins I've tasted in almost 2 years. And other than LC cheesecake once and real birthday cake once, I haven't had any cake like desserts in those same 2 years. So patting myself on the back but hard enough to hurt. Oh forgot the 2 Christmas pies. wow the sun just came out full force. Cool I was getting cabin fever already; last time I left the house was early friday afternoon. Luckily the power stayed on. LAst ice storm 50,000 people were without electricity. Including me for half a day or so. Sux when you have electric heat. Last edited by Rob; 01-30-2005 at 01:08 PM. |

If I make something I really, really like and my son doesn't care for as much, I usually end up eating too much of it, too. I really need to plan those cooking days for Monday, so that I can take the leftovers to work when I start my Tuesday work week.

Melissa - I know I do better making things like that the morning I'm going to bring it to someone's house for a gathering. That way I can pawn off the leftovers on them. Kim - I'll bet you're right about the muffins. I vaguely remember drooling on my keyboard reading about lemon poppy seed muffins. Properly warm clothing is the key to walking in the winter. Man am i absent minded. Making beef, pork, chicken and shrimp soup (chinese style) for dinner. So I start by making a beef stock. Now I'm skimming the scum off the top of the broth and putting it in a bowl. Meanwhile I'm sipping a mug of green tea. Of course I got confused and spooned the scum (sorry that's the only thing i know to call it) into my tea. threw it out. That's not the dumbest thing I ever did in a kitchen though. A few years ago I was making chicken stock. Long simmering 2 1/2 hours to make, chicken stock. So finally it's done and I take it to the sink to strain it. I pour it into the strainer and not until I'm finished do I realize I forgot to put a bowl under the strainer. So basically I threw it down the drain. Can You say D_U_M_B.

oh man... how lousy did THAT have to feel..*L* 2 and a half hours down the drain..LITERALLY..*L* yeah... i remember you drooling over the mu**ins ...cause i was right next to ya doing the same... i even LOOKED LONGINGLY WITH LUST IN MY HEART at the package at the store yesterday... and then i thought of the amount they would make... and then i walked over and grabbed a bottle of water instead..*L*... STILL too scary for ME to make stuff like that... the c*rnbr**d mix that daughter1 bought me MONTHS ago is still sitting in the cabinet after seeing that a SERVING was like a 2 inch square.. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIGHT.. i can eat that stuff by the PAN and with chili? TWO pans..*sigh*... i wonder how many people stall by eating these treats on a regular basis and have no idea how much damage they can do...

Tina - I wholeheartedly agree! to a low carb muffin avoidance pact! I knew there was a reason why in 2 years I had not made any low carb muffins. At least my muffins are all gone. Kim - Kombucha tea froth?? Sounds lovely. Well as stated above the muffins are gone. But oh boy I don't want to know the price I paid for eating a whole batch of muffins in 3 days. I think I'll skip weigh-in this week and concentrate on eating better. I come from an odd family. Today my father and sister and myself are meeting up at my dad's condo to go mattress/bed shopping. I owed my Dad $500 for about a month and was fully planning to pay him back out of my federal refund. But the $2200+ refund turned into a $900 refund when they gave $1300 to alleviate my state tax arrears. That's from a dumb mistake I made in 2001 when i cashed in a bunch of stock options and then didn't declare them on the state tax form. So the $900 was already earmarked for bills and a new bed (mattress and box spring) I desperately need, which left nada for dada. LOL anyway i proposed to my dad to pay him back $100 a month because i needed a bed. He said "I'll make you a deal "I was going to buy your sister a new bed (mattress box sping and head/base boards) so just keep the $500. I like deals like that.
