Donna - Yeah men laugh at women crying at movies but you sit a man down in front of a movie like that and he will usually bawl too. well at least get misty-eyed. That's why a lot of men will not watch those kinds of movies.

Kim wasabi - Shall we Dance isn't really much of a tear jerker. so you can watch that any time. I sometimes crave the hot and spicy stuff too. Though not nearly as often as you do.

I'm thinking that tonight I'll have chicken breasts coated in a mixture of almond meal, ground flax seeds and ground sesame seeds. A little parmesan in there too might be good. And then serve with low carb ziti with sausage tomato sauce. Sound too high calorie? maybe but I'll be sitting right at 700 calories besides dinner and that includes 2 H.B. egg snacks.

I MUST walk today. I DIDN"T walk yesterday. I WILL walk today!!!!!!

Rob. I am coming over to your HOUSE for dinner........ sounds wonderful! I do so miss my Pasta......tried the l/c version...... it is passable, but decided not to do the carbs if I can't have the real thing.... Dreamfields...... that was a dream in and of itself.... guess they have "recalled" the claim of only so many digestable carbs at this point. Can't find it anymore anyway.... except in my pantry.... saving it for a REALLY tough time Did buy some l/c pasta at Big Lots... It was good, smothered in l/c alfredo or red sauce, but the soy still comes through.... In any event, you have been my mentor, as Kim has.... so inspired with the way you two have stuck through this WOL.... It's only been 3 to 4 months with me, but I am DETERMINED!

Take that walk..... but don't over do it...... As for me..... it is such a glorious day here in KC..... the ground is almost unfrozen...... Plan on taking one of those moonlight walks with my two adorable Basset Hounds..... they are ready for the taking.... don't need weights walking with them at almost 70 pounds each! Have a great weekend!

robby... my son( who is 31 TODAY aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh ) cries at sappy movies... makes no bones about it either.. and i am EXTREMELY proud that i raised him that way..*grin*

rhonda... i still have some dreamsfield... i havent had any in a couple months tho...(it didnt bother me tho) but i am not big on that soy pasta ICK! and spaghetti squash is NOTHING like pasta as far as i am concerned...
might try those scary noodles sometime if i can find some ....

dont be all that proud of MY success.. heck... i would go back to eating yucky stuff in a heartbeat if i didnt suffer the CONSEQUENCES of it :-(.... but i do just do it one day... one meal at a time sometimes... although for 99% of the time it is as normal as normal can be to me... :-)

Rhonda - I'm inspired every day by everyone on this board who sticks with it, even if "only" 3 or 4 months. I decided to try that Dreamfield's pasta last night only because i saw it at a store i rarely go to. It was also on sale. so I bought 2 boxes. I measured 2 ounces dry and cooked it. Had it with my chicken (which was good but exuded a lot of fat). 45 minutes after eating dinner (large portions of the chicken) I was starving. So I guess I don't need this stuff in my diet. Maybe i can save the penne for a baked ziti dish and bring to my sister's next get together.

Kim - Good for you. My mom felt the same way about her kids having feelings.
Happy birthday to your son BTW. I love spaghetti squash but it in no way passes for pasta in my book either.

Walked 5 miles yesterday at Tanglewood park. Beautiful day. I love Tanglewood. It's fairly huge for a county park. Has 2 full size golf courses and a par 3 course. And pitch and putt. and miles of horse trails and a river runs through it (I saw Brad Pitt there - ok I'm lying). Must be 50 horses there in the corrals and the stables too. Oh and there's a small lake and plenty of picnic areas. They are rebuiilding the pool complex too and that should be open this summer. Also a public garden and a Bed and breakfast and there are cottages for rent by the lake. Miles of walking paths. It took me years to find them all (If I did?).

The chicken was made as I described but I decided that instead of frying in half an inch of oil, I would dip the raw chicken breasts in butter and roll in the flax/almond/sesame/parmesan mixture and bake. While it was really tasty it didn't get crisp. And I cooked it longer than I wanted to hoping it would crisp up. But unless i wanted a crisp coating on dried out chicken I had to stop cooking it. The parmesan and butter exuded and coated the pan and hardened. Luckily i used aluminum foil. That actually was the best part. Peeling off the fried parmesan and eating it. See that was crisp.

Stinky rainy day today but yesterday was glorious. I hadn't checked the weather report in several days so the temperature was a wonderful surprise. I went out with a sweater to walk at the lake (3.1 miles) and felt ridiculous after a while. So I finished my walk wearing a Tee shirt and I wished i had worn shorts (No NOT undershorts). It was somewhere around the mid seventies (74?). When I finished my walk I took my book out in my so called yard and read with sophie on a long chain and splenda sleeping at my feet. Kind of idyllic. Then I grilled a T-bone steak along with the last of my asparagus and ate that fantastic meal for about 3 dollars. Got 3 t-bones a few weeks ago on the last day of sale rack (my sister insists I stop calling it the "diseased meat rack"). They were something like $7.62. For 3!!! And the asparagus was bought on sale for .87 a pound. and i ate about half a pound yesterday, so the steak was 2.54 and the asparagus was .44 = $2.98. How's that for a meal that would normally cost me about $7.50 or over 20 bucks in a restaurant. I cooked the steak on my charcoal grill (I don;t care about carcinogens - I'm too lazy to grill out more than 4 times a year)
and it came out perfectly done medium rare-medium (in between which is where I like it).

Kim - I was a bank auditor for a decade and change. So statistics...well numbers in general come easy to me. The chicekn strips should be nice and dried by monday (and smelling pretty rank). Good to know I can;t make you buzz off.

What a cruddy day - I was so bored I went to 2 stores for groceries... one being walmart. They didn;t have Le Carb Cinnamon which is my favorite all time ever ice cream (unless it's low carb Butter pecan?) Any way since they didn;t have it I bought teh Le Carb homemade vanilla. when I got it home I filled a small bowl with some and softened it a bit in the microwave (on defrost 11 seconds) then added some torani sf caramel syrup and some cinnamon. TAsted very much like my beloved LeCArb Cinnamon ice cream!
Of course I repeated this procedure until the whole container was gone. Lucky it was only a pint which is only 400 calories and 17 net carbs.

Isn't LeCarb great?! Yummy! I am glad that it comes in relatively small containers!
I loved the movie, Shall We Dance! I agree, it is an anytime, just feel good movie.

Rob, your ice-cream experience is exactly why I haven't bought low-carb ice-cream...even though I've been craving it!

My all-time favorite ice-cream is Starbucks Java Chip...so rich, so sweet, so very, very creamy (when it's been properly frozen. Funny thing, if it's been thawed and refrozen, it can have the worst texture!)

Today, I ordered some PolyD, erythrytol and mini-carb chips so I can make my own s/f version of coffee ice-cream using Betty's base recipe. But to be honest, I'm a little afraid that I'd gobble the whole thing down in one sitting. I could eat an entire quart of Java Chip in one day...not one sitting...but close enough!

As for "The Notebook," I've not seen it. My son brought it over a few weeks ago and told me that I've gotta see it because it made him cry. (He's a really tough, onery kid on the outside and a real sappy person at heart.) But I was the one who refused to watch it. In fact, I usually prefer action flix over sappy movies because I don't want to cry. Sometimes I feel that if i start, I won't be able to stop. It's much easier to hold it in...although I'm sure that in some respects it's not healthy.

Cynthia - the small containers are half the reason I buy Le Carb brand.

Melissa - Portion control is only accomplished by me if i consider whatever I have on hand as one portion. No matter how big. Watch The Notebook - you won't be sorry. It's sad in a feel good way. It's really the story of the power of love.

T.S. Eliot wrote that "April is the cruelest month" but I think it's March. In fact I KNOW it's march. dam* march. Sunny 74 degree sunday turned into rainy 40's monday and tomorrow and thursday and part of friday is supposed to be rain, changing to sleet and back and forth. mixed precipitation is what they keep calling it. High tomorrow - 38 degrees. The average high temperature for this time of year is supposed to be 60 in my part of the world. But I think they're averaging March with july. LOL
I will walk today if I can get out before the cruddy weather begins. Need to shower and shave and .......

    Hey Rob

I cried heavily (this is an understatement) at the Notebook. It was really good.

I got some wasabi this weekend and put some in a meatloaf. It turned out great. I'm going to try some in mayo and use that as an artichoke dip, I think.

I haven't tried low carb ice cream yet, for that reason. The carbs and calories for the whole thing didnt sound too bad. I guess if you go into it expecting not to save some for later, it's not so bad.
