remember this discussion thread??
http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...diverticulitis
i know that you are a very wise atkins eater (lots of veggies, etc) ... so what they're saying about fruits/veggies and fiber doesn't seem to make sense .... ?

Hospital emergency rooms are scary...but add in the ambulance with the lights and siren and, YIKES, it's like a nightmare. Then again, it sounds like you were in so much pain that the noise probably didn't phase you.

I think it's kind of funny that you waited outside so the ambulance didn't bother the dog you were sitting. You are truly a dog lover. Your little fur-girl is sooo lucky!

Your story is a good reminder to eat plenty of fiber. Oh, I eat veggies every day. A quick look at my own fiber consumption shows that I'm 15-20 grams of fiber a day. Sometimes a little less, other times a lot more. But I need to work at eating a min. of 20 every day. I read that the American Dietetic Association recommends 20-35g of fiber a day.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! And no Gregg I won;t get the wrong idea.

HAven't really attenmpted solid food yet. Am a little afraid to. I never want to feel that bad again. I think I'll wait for dinner and just have a small meal.

it IS scary... when i had that horrible episode last year i didnt want to eat OR drink i was so afraid of the pain coming again...
did the doc have any suggestions on what TO eat that might not hurt you for your first few attempts at solids?
glad youre at least on here.. i was worried about ya!

Hi Kim - I was supposed to do a clear liquid diet through yesterday (hence the miller lite during football yesterday ) and I could continue it for up to 3 days. So basically it's up to me when i can return to solid food. Which I did at dinner. But all i ate was 2 boca burgers with mozzarella cheese on low carb bread. I had to eat something because one of the antibiotics I started taking today has to be eaten with food. So my caloric total is 424 (including 2 tbs half and half for coffee/tea and a can of beef broth. I might lose a half pound or 2. I am starving right now but will not eat until breakfast which may be at 4:00 a.m. given my insomnia.

Fiber doesn't seem to be the reson for my attack. I had 35 grams the day i had it. My average fiber is 23grams per day for 2004. I was low on water that day. My Dad has this problem too so it's heredity as well as other factors.

Dummy me I just had to get out there and walk today. I only did 2 miles but it took a lot out of me. Another 70 degree day I just couldn't waste it. Friday we are going back to winter temperatures.

You are both too much!

Insomnia has struck again. One of the dozens of possible side effects of my medications is "may interfere with sleep". So I spent 4 hours trying to get to sleep without success. So i got up made a pot of cofee, drank same, ate breakfast. Took more meds and here I am.

Okay now my smilies aren't animated?????
