Stephen - You can always visit any east coast state from New Jersey to Maine. Tornados are much rarer there. or visit anywhere on teh east coast in less hot weather which seems to precipatate tornados. Horrible things.
Thanks for teh birthday wishes, never too late.

petie is still here... the other person never called us back... and moon insists that he wants petie.. so i assume we will get him home one way or the other *L*

Kim - yep - one way or the other you'll get Petie home. Hey how about setting him loose and seeing if he finds his way to Idaho. Could happen! It happens in Disney movies.

Went to my sister's house yesterday and they were bombing the house for fleas. I wish they had told me they had a flea problem before I brought my dog there for weeks. Oh well sophie iis protected somewhat with flea spot-on stuff. and Today I'm going to get a better grade of flea protector. $45 for 3 month supply. <groan>. Pet "ownership" isn't cheap. I brought over 8 pounds of spare ribs and we grilled them. excellent. I made a BBQ sauce out of a jar of cajun marinade, some ketchup (not LC unforunately) and 2 different hot sauces. But a blueberry muffin leapt into my mouth while i was talking and it was either swallow or choke. so what could I do.

That's funny Rob about the blueberry muffin.... at least it was only ONE! Bought myself (treat for me) a Schwinn stationary bike this weekend. Was expensive, but figured since it was getting soooooooo hot here in the evenings, and not a person to sit my alarm for 4:00 a.m. to get up and walk, it was the best alternative. Rode it for 7 miles last night and boy are my legs sore today! Now, if I can just find the "inspiration" to keep doing it. Probably will since it was so expensive. At least, I hope that is my motiviation!

My neighbor bombed her house and i ended up with her cat for a day and the neighbor as well on the couch that night. So far no sign of any fleas brought in here. She lives downstairs and over one so they shouldn't hop over. Pet ownership is expensive, but for most folks a no brainer expence as they get so much enjoyment from them. Me? I'll stick to coleus plants. I have a hard enough time taking care of myself.

Rhonda - The exercise bikes with tension control are very good. I had one and at one point I was using it 45 minutes a day at maximum tension. I had very muscular legs after a while. Make sure you put on some lively music. I used to do mine to the William tell overture because it starts out slow and sweet and works up to the frenetic "lone Ranger" tempo.

Stephen - Yes, Pet ownership is a lot of responsibility but well worth it. Cats are easier than dogs by far.

I didn't walk yesterday, tehy kpt saying rain and it never rained. But the sky always looked like it would pour any minute. I did get in some activity vacuuming, the furniture moving kind. Eating was good also. 1700 calories and 40 net carbs.

For slow to fast you could always try Ravel's - Belero. On second thought that might be dangerous!

Sorry boys...nothing beats good old rock n' roll for a sweaty workout! My new favorite is Green Day's American Idiot for keeping the blood pumping.

Rob, sounds as though your doing great...could you stop by and move my sofa for me?? Haven't vacuumed under that beast for quite some time...

Rob, how were the short ribs? Do you have a recipe you could share with me for those? I've been looking for main dish recipes to fix for John and me for dinners. The kids won't eat the low carb stuff (the GOOD stuff).

April - The short ribs came out very good. The one drawback is there's so little meat on each rib you need at least a pound per person. well if you're a big meat eater anyway. I don't really use a recipe but yesterday I braised the ribs (salt and pepper first) in oil then added an onion and sauteed it a bit. I think i used garlic powder, real garlic, dry mustard, a tad of balsamic vinegar (because i was out of ACV which would have been my preference) and some homemade tomato sauce (just maybe 1/2 a cup) and a little red wine. then I put it in my crockpot and set it on high fo 30 minutes and then low until dinner time. Maybe 8 hours total but 10 hours would have been okay too. Then you need to defat the sauce since short ribs are real fatty. I used a defatting cup for that. I'm probably leaving out something. oh yes worcestershire sauce (just a few sprinkles). The tomato sauce is something I would have left out if i used acv. But since it was balsamic vinegar I figured what the hey. I only had about 6 liquid ounces of red wine and thetomato sauce was added just to give me more liquid therefore more sauce at the end.

walked only 2 miles yesterday because of the high humidity. I was soaked afterward. It's raining now so that might interfere with today's walk. we'll see. I did walk 7.25 miles tuesday in 90 degree heat so I can walk in horrible weather when I am determined.

Noel - Yeah, the nerve of that darn muffin. lol

Rob, those shortribs sound wonderful! I hear you on the not walking to far in the humidity.... it can actually be very dangerous. I did manage to walk two miles last night and then rode the bike for another three. Not nearly as much exercise as I wanted, but after working all day, and then watering and weedeating the garden, I was tired. Still didn't get to sleep until after 1:00 a.m. and then the alarm goes off at 5:00 a.m. Oh well, I guess as you get older you don't require as much sleep!

Rob, thanks for the short ribs recipe. I'll give them a try this weekend.

mmm...Rob, those do sound good. I have a giant crockpot that I am now going to finally put to some good use (I use to make chili when I was pregnant every week).
