Hey Rob...the Akitas that I knew looked very similar to the picture with the vet. I suspect that your puppy is gonna get a wee bit larger than 60 lbs...

Franny - I can hope can't I? The mother was a pedigreed husky who only weighs about 50 some pounds. The father weighs about 115. So if you average the 2 that's about 80 pounds. sigh I will have to work harder to train him to heel than I did with Sophie. The photo below is the closest I can come to how thi dog looked the last time I saw him but that was 6 weeks ago or so. But I may be thinking of the wrong one.

Apparently, Akita's were the dogs of the Japanes Warriors...very noble heritage. And Huskies are just downright gorgeous. That is gonna be one adorable baby!

kim - I had forgotten about N.S.'s Akita. I definitely won't be letting this pup on my lap. I'll have to get a bigger couch though or the 2 dogs and one cat won't fit unless I sit elsewhere. Thank you Junie! Beach - you got that right - BIG and Hungry. Franny - I've been looking up stuff about akitas a lot. I knew almost nothing about them. yes noble warrior dogs revered in Japan. April - no that is just the closest I could come to what he looked like last i saw him. But you know how dogs can change as they get older. The whole litter looks much more like Akitas than huskies. Walked 3 1/2 miles today at Reynolda Village. Am trying to go to places closer to home after getting gas monday and spending $42. I have a Nissan Altima. ach Going to my dad's for the evening. leaving in 5 minutes

Rob, I can hardly wait to see a picture of your new baby! Wish I could fill my tank for $42. It was $60 the last time and I didn't even top it off due to the ozone alert. Have to hop on my bike as it is pouring the rain here today..... but, gotta get my exercise in somehow! Have fun at your dad's

Didn't WE tell you the same thing about your NEW baby when you were saying how UGLY he was! Yeah....... I know....... people tell me all the time how UGLY my twins are since they are Basset Hounds, but I only see beauty, love and undying devotion they give me each day....... not to mention the pleasure of having them with me....... Well, except when they decide they need to use the facilities at 3:00 a.m. most mornings. But hey, I should be grateful they at least wake me up!

Rob - Just saw some huge flooding from Ophelia in North Carolina? I hope you and the furries are OK?

Rhonda - I think basset hounds are adorable. I love those long floppy ears. Gas is down about a dime since i filled up monday. Kim - I just hope he (or she now I'm not sure) gets along with the cat or there's no sale. I've decided to crate train this one - saves wear and tear on the nerves. Beach - I'm about a six hour drive to where the flooding occurred. We're expected to get some residual rain this afternoon. Good we haven't ahd any in a couple of weeks.

| Rob - hope you had a good time at your Dad's last night. How's he doing? I miss my parents being here. They moved a few years ago from Cincinnati to Mesa, Arizona, and now I wished I would have gone to see them more often. It's an awful feeling to know that you've taken people for granted. Anywho.....hope you enjoyed yourselves. Does your Dad have cats or dogs? Do you take Sophie and Splenda with you when you go?
