I think I need to be less competative. I also think I need to learn how to spell that word. No way I'm spelling it looks right tonight. Eh, oh well.

I also need to do my stats homework. Sigh. Only the government could've come up with a program as complicated and nonsensical as SAS. Honestly. And who types in codes to programs anymore?!?! That's why they invented icons! I LIKE pointing and clicking. A lot. I do not like typing in line after line of code. It is boring and things frequently do not work because you typed in something wrong or forgot a semicolon.

And my gawd. I so hate the lab I"m in right now. I freaking know how to pipette! And I know how to vortex little 1.5ml tubes! Eesh! People with OCD should NOT be allowed to run labs. It takes forever to get anything done. And I'm so sick of doing things his way. I prefer my way. I don't want to pipette with my forefinger. I like using my thumb. I can vortex more than 1 1.5ml tube at time. I can do 6. One by one takes forever and ever and ever if you have 100+ tubes. Also give me a minute or two during the day to get like a drink of water or something. Grrrrrrrrr..............

And I went to the gym this morning. My 9 a.m. class was canceled, so I went to the gym instead of sleeping in. I forgot how much I LOVE going to the gym mid-morning. It's like the perfect time to go. I'm awake but I haven't done anything yet, so by the time my day really starts, the workout is over and I don't have to think about it. I wish I had more days that I could go around 10 or so. It's just so perfect.

FOOD!

bfast: 4 slices bacon, 3 slices cheese, iced coffee from Dunks (I had a coupon!)

lunch: apple

dinner: roast chicken, spinach.

Okay, it snowed yesterday. I was blissfully unaware of the impending mess until around 11pm last night. That's when I went to leave my apartment to join my roommate and neighbor at a local bar. Sigh. It was snowing like the dickens out there. We only wound up with like 4inches or so but ugh. Now everything's all slushy and yucky again. And I like snow. We've just had too many 3inch storms this year. On top of the great blizzard of Aught Five. Winter's almost over right???

So not much to report. I had a coupon for Dunks today (again). This one was for their Great One coffee. Yowzers that's a lot of coffee!!!! I mean, damn. I finished about half of it and then I was good. It is now sitting, half drunk, in the fridge at my lab.

Also, I went to the gym last night. But I think I hurt my knee. Not at the gym though. Walking on the sidewalk earlier in the day yesterday. Naturally. I stepped funny on a metal grate in the sidewalk, felt a pain shoot up behind my knee, and that's that. It was fine after that, but today, not so much. I'm fine so long as I don't try to do radical things like bend it or straighten it or put weight on it. So no gym tonight. Hopefully it'll be fine tomorrow and then I can go to the gym.

FOOD!

Thursday:

bfast/lunch (didn't have to be in class until 12:30 so I slept way in): 3 eggs scrambled with cheese and 4 slices of bacon. I think my portions are just too great. I think I"m going to shoot for like 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon from now on. It'll be enough to statisfy me. I really do need to eat less.

dinner: salad with grilled chicken. Ranch dressing.

bar: 2 diet cokes, 1 Corona

snack (post bar): 3 slices of cheese.

Friday:

bfast: 2 fried eggs, 3 slices of bacon, my ginormous coffee

lunch: salad with grilled chicken on top, apple

dinner: 2 cheeseburger patties, onion, and zucchini.

And I ended last night with some SF jello. Just got really hungry at like around 11pm or so. It was actually kind of odd.

Didn't do the gym today because I was calling to get Monster Seats. And I was victorious. Thank goodness for imaginary internet friends. She saved my butt and now I have front row seats to the Twins at the end of July. SOOOOOOOOOO happy. SOOOOO happy!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I got through on the phone!! That has never happened to me before!

YIPEE!

FOOD!

Sat:

lunch: 11 buffalo wings, blue cheese dressing, diet coke.

So then after I got Monster Seats, I took a nap. I know, real productive right? I was so going to go to the gym but then I didn't. Because it's freaking cold out there. When I woke up, my roommie was home and then we got ready and went out for the night.

Had a bit much to drink. Got picked up by two guys. That was really nice. Neither one went anywhere, but flirting is fun. One was way to young and the other was just annoying. The band at the bar was awesome though. Oh, sooooooo funny. Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond is always played at Fenway after the top of the 8th inning. And the folks at the Red Sox front office decided that it would be the perfect music to play as one waits on hold to buy tickets. So for about an hour on Saturday, I listened to that song as I waited to get tickets. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. About 15mins after showing up at the bar, the band starts to play that song. The entire bar got into it because it's a bar at Fanieul Hall (dammit I need to learn how to spell that) and Whoo Red Sox! I wanted to run away and, I don't know, stick my head in a toliet or something. Anything to not hear that song again. Anything!

Anyhow, that was Sat. night. Good bar though. New and funky. Irish themed.

Sunday I woke up in a b*tch of a mood. And, no, it wasn't from being hungover because I wasn't. I was just in a foul mood. I think I got up around 11 or so. Might have been a bit earlier. Anyhow, I just kind of drank coffee and watched bad movies on t.v. until around 2:40 or so. Then I finally decided to eat. I had no food though. Ugh. So I borrowed some pasta from the roommates. And then the day went to hell, foodwise that is. Bad mood, one bad food choice, and there you go.

I did manage to get my stats homework done though. Which was a good thing because I so totally didn't want to do it. And I didn't understand what the I was doing. But somehow I managed to pull it off.

But then naturally I didn't get a chance to print it off before class today. Printer in the computer lab was broken. Ugh. I'll just hand it tomorrow. It's not graded. Just annoys me that I didn't have it to hand in.

Other than that, today was fairly boring. Went to class, went to journal club, went to second class, went to lab, came home, thought about going to the gym but it's supposed to be a blizzard soon, so I held off. Cross your fingers everyone that I don't have to go to my 8a.m. class!!!!!

Anyhow, I'll log food. Becuase I ate it, so I might as well own up to it.

FOOD!

Sat:

two cheeseburger patties

1tbsp all natural peanutbutter

bowl of cereal post-bar.

Sunday:

coffee

buttered pasta with cheese

handfull of animal crackers

2 slices sausage pizza

1 slice of chocolate chip cheesecake. DAMN YOU NORTH END BAKERIES!

decaf coffee

Monday:

coffee

chicken cesear salad - ate about half

chicken fajita salad. Probably too much sour cream on it. But it was good.

And then I finished off last night's eating with a bit of experimentation. I tried to fry motz. in a pan on the stove. It was good. Not great. But good. And then some peanut butter. Big ole spoonful straight from the jar.

Never went to the gym last night. Nor tonight. I'm exhausted today. I don't know why. Alll I've wanted to do all day long is sleep, sleep, sleep. I came home at 5:30 and was going to take a nap, then go to the gym. Woke up from the nap and realized the gym was just NOT going to happen tonight. Blah. I'll go without a doubt tomorrow. Perhaps I'll actually get some homework done tonight or something. Not likely, but I'll at least think about it.

Blah, just having such a tired, cranky, fat day. Ideally this should make me want to eat better and exercise more. Funny how that's not the case. Days like this make me want to eat enough to gain 30lbs. I just....ugh. You know? I just want to pig out. Big time. Sigh.

FOOD!

bfast: coffee

lunch: lc canned soup and an apple

dinner: grilled chicken, motz. cheese, spinach, and tomato sauce all mixed together. YUM.

Funny you should say that. I feel like I've been eating too much lately. My portions just seem enormous. I don't know what to do. I have no time to snack during the day - food is not allowed in the lab, I hate to snack in class - so I wind up coming home FAMISHED. And then I eat, what seems like to me at least, a lot for dinner. Last nights dinner was on a big dinner plate and really filled the whole thing up. My plate was heavy! I def. didn't need that much food. But I was so hungry by the time I got home, I just inhaled it.

I do need to exercise more. I haven't been to the gym since last Thursday. I've been meaning to go every day since but things keep coming up. Sat. I devoted to the tickets, Sunday I was, well I was hungover, Monday snow was coming, last night I was just sooooo tired, and then tonight I was at lab late and got home late and was just too beat to go. But all I do is sit on my ass all day long! I'm so frustrated! I can't wait for it to get just a little bit warmer. Then I plan on walking at least one way from school every day. I can't promise twice - just not enough of a morning perosn to get up early enough to walk there - but I can do the walk home. Esp. now that the days are getting a bit longer. I just need it to get warmer. I hate how cold it's been.

I'm just feeling so fat these days. I can't stand it. And I hate that I don't seem to be doing enough to change it, you know? Being very lazy I feel like. I'm just tired of sitting. Basically I'm bored.

Sigh.

FOOD!

bfast: none

snack: coffee

lunch: spinach salad with italian dressing, feta, bacon bits, and mushroom and hb eggs

dinner: .5lb steak, 1 medium onion sauteed in butter (2tbsp), salad with rhomaine, black olives, feta. Olive oil and vinegar dressing.

And then today was yet another day in my life.

I went to my 8 a.m. class. I know I took notes. I have no real memory of this class though. Heh. That's what happens when you have to be functioning at 8 o'clock in the freaking morning. Oh well.

Then I went to lab. Got some actual real life results. We have no clue what any of it means, but it was surprising. He works on this parasitic disease that has this weird age related component to it. Anyhow, he was working on the theory that the initial level of exposure to the parasite might bring about a stronger/swifter infection, esp. in the older mice. And that didn't hold true. So now it's like, well that's interesting, with a bit of what the hell do we do now mixed in for kicks. And I'm done with that lab in a week and half, so I suppose I'm never going to find out.

I need to go to bed. I can feel a headache building. And my feet are cold. I can't wait to crawl under my covers and get all snuggly.

FOOD!

bfast: coffee and apple

lunch: chef salad with italian dressing

dinner: turkey filets. No veggies. I actually don't have any. That was kind of surprising to open up the freezer and realize. And the market across the street is closed for the night. So yeah. Turkey filets. Sigh. Not filling enough, shockingly. I'm going to have a few tbspns of peanut butter now. Or maybe an egg or something. I'm hungry.

I can relate to the life of a career........ college student. Spent seven years of my life doing that. Just saw your journal and wanted to stop by and post. I am not new to l/c basically... in any event, good luck with your studies.... they do pay off in the end... of course, that is AFTER the student loans ;(

Actually, I'm a graduate student, so they actually pay me to go to school. And by "pay" I mean I get barely enough in a yearly stipend to pay rent and bills each month. Whoo-hoo living at the poverty line!

Also not new to the lc thing. I think I've been doing this since 1997 or so. 1997 is when I graduated high school and I did it that summer with a lot of success. And then off and on since then. 10yrs ago I weighed in at 231. Never gotten that high again. I seem to lose a bit and then stop and hold steady for a bit. Then I'll gain a few pounds, freak out, and lose more. So I've basically been losing 4lbs a year for a decade now as I am currently in the low 190s. At this speed I'll reach goal in another 10yrs. Grrrrrr.....

I'm ultra determined right now though. I just don't want to be heavy anymore. I"m done with it. I want a nice slim body for a change. I want to wear pretty dresses and skirts and not hate my arms or my calves or my thighs. Liking the butt is probably a losing battle, so I've called a truce.

Ugh. I was shopping the other day and all I could see was flab, flab, and more flab. I hated my arms. I hated my stomach. I hated my legs. Just not a good time. Stupid dressing room mirror.

Tomorrow I'm going to the gym. Going to start lifting more and really tone this body. I hate lifting, but I have to. I'm going to start jogging again as well. My legs look fantastic when I do that. So I'm going to start again. Plus I really like my new gym, so that should be an incentive to go. I hope. I've been having a hard time getting my butt there lately. It's just so cold out. I'm so sick of being cold. But it's March now, so the sub-zero temps have got to stop sometime soon. Right?

And I'm just trying to be more active in general. Taking stairs, walking home from school. Yesterday I did that and had a blast, despite the cold. I was just wandering around Boston and loving every second. I can't wait for it to get warm so that I can do that more often. I had a great time.

And now it's time for......

FOOD!

Friday:

bfast: 3 eggs, fried, coffee

lunch: salad with tuna on top

dinner: oy. I made cream of broccoli and cheddar soup. That was an adventure. Wow. Did I ever make a mess making that! Anyhow, it came out okay. It needed a sharper cheddar than I used. I couldn't really taste it. And I totally, I mean totally messed up the recipe. First I used too much cream - 2cups instead of one. Then I tried to balance that out with extra chicken broth. And that made it taste not creamy enough. And the seasoning is all off. I'll do better next time.

Sat. (so far):

bfast: coffee and two eggs, scrambled with motz. cheese.

lunch/dinner will be either soup or buffalo wings. Maybe a combo. I have no food. I so need to go grocery shopping!!

I have found that breakfast is the most important to be food and on plan...I feel better and am not as hungry later in the day when it is sooo tempting to overeat or choose the wrong foods because I am too hungry to care. If breakfast is hard for you try the shakes or something similar as a quick out the door breakfast...I know you know this but just a reminder since we all seem to need those now and again!

Oy. The last time I was here was Saturday?? Uuuuugh. I have no clue what I've eaten since then. I know Sunday I didn't so swift, Monday I did great, and yesterday was not so great. Today was perfect.

It's just been exams, exams, and more exams. Okay it was only two exams but they totally kicked my proverbial arse. And I'm not even done! I still have the take home portion of one to do. On top of having to talk at journal club on Friday. On top of having to give a 20min talk next Tuesday (though I haven't heard any conformation on this yet, so we're not worrying about it yet). And then the following week I have a monster take home exam. Bleck. My brain hurts. Is it April yet?

I'm just going to log today's food. I'm too tired to do the other days. Maybe I'll do them tomorrow:

FOOD!

bfast: coffee, 3 eggs scrambled with motz.

dinner: grilled chicken salad

snack: these mini ground beef patty things. I don't know what they're called. My roommate (who's middle eastern) made them. SO GOOD. Totally lc. They're just meat, parsley, onion, and some other seasoning. Mixed together and fried in oil.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired. It has been the longest week in the entire world. And it's not over yet. I am finding my stats take home exam questions impossible to answer. IMPOSSIBLE. I have no idea how to use SAS and I have no idea what he's asking. And I have a headache and eyestrain from staring at the computer. And I don't want to do this anymore!!

My biggest problem is that I"m tired. I'm so exhausted tonight. And pmsing big time. OMG. I must have a thousand canker sores in my mouth. The entire left side of my mouth feels like glass is cutting it when I try to chew food on that side. It's horrible. I just know that I"m going to get a cold sore. Canker sores are always, ALWAYS, a precursor to cold sores for me.

And I've got that awful pms hunger going on. I eat and then like 3 seconds later, I'm starving. Absolutely starving. No matter how much I've eaten. And I'm totally bloated right now. Want to know how bloated I feel? My NECK feels fat. My neck people!

Sigh.

FOOD!

bfast: coffee and granny smith apple

lunch: salad with tuna fish on top

dinner: buffalo wings, motz. cheese (just plain), blue cheese, gala apple with peanut butter. I so need to go grocery shopping. I have no food now. The apple and buffalo wings were the last of it!
