You guys are ALL the best! Yes, I am way up to my elbows in cooking and cleaning. If you read my journal, my heavy cleaning days are on the weekend and it's Wednesday, and needless to say, the twins have tracked in their muddy paws through the kitchen floor (which is white marble) imagine that..... I had NO planning in that one!

Vickie, I LOVED the pumpkin muffin thingie...... sorry I haven't posted it in that thread yet but time constraints do make it impossible for me to do all I want to on these boards as far as posting. Glad I only visit this board.... no need to go anywhere else... have all the friends and support one could EVER wish for!

Okay....... now to the SCARY part of it....... how to I FAST DEFROST a 25 pound bird????? I always put it in the oven the night before on 225 or so as my Mom has to work each and every Thanksgiving being a nurse, so her work schedule is 3:00 p.m. and "dinner" if you can call it that..... will be at 1:00 or so??????? HELPPPPPPPP!

DW used to cook her birds like that, 225, overnight. I could never get it out of the roaster whole. It would just fall off the bones. Those table top roasters work great too. Could put the bird in one with water in the bottom to steam/thaw it. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Good luck with the bird!

Happy Thanksgiving, Rhonda!

I hope you got your turkey figured out! I was in the same predicament, left mine in the kitchen sink yesterday morning, freaked cause everyone was posting how bad that was... house was way colder than we thought yesterday and it was still frozen solid when I got home. I ended up doing the cold water thaw, and it was still very, very cold on the inside when I put it in the oven at 4:30 am... okay... I finally know why my mom was up so early to make Thanksgiving dinner. I usually do small turkeys and eat Thanksgiving dinner late (4 or so), so this is the first time that I've ever had to get up early to do it. AND I was up until 1 making cheesecake!

I must really love myself to be this eager to have food that I can eat on national stuff your face day!

Home smells wonderful...... the big bird has been in the oven since around midnight.... gibblets and neck are in the crockpot waiting for me to make gravy and made Rob's slaw, potatoe salad, real potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, l/c cheesecake, l/c pumpkin pies and getting ready to make a h/c cake. Rolls are ready to go into the oven right before dinner, so all is well.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Wow, Rhonda! That is a ton of food! I've always like Thanksgiving and Christmas because DH has done all the cooking. I did what we took to my SIL's today, and I thought I was busy!!! I hope you had a great day

Katie, yes it was a lot of food and sent tons of it home with the family. Took Mildred her plate of food and she was so thrilled to see me. I must check in on her more often...

I had some turkey, deviled eggs, Rob's slaw and splenda sweeted ice tea. Still haven't indulged in my l/c cheesecake but I think I am tired from all the cooking and just not hungry, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. Stayed true to my l/c WOE so all went well.

Thanks for stopping by everyone and wishing me a happy Thanksgiving. Hope yours was good as well!

Rhonda - several time sin my life I've been the main cook for Thanksgiving Dinner. I enjoyed it but it's a LOT of work. especially the clean up. That's not fun at all.
Glad you could make Mildred's day!

April, like I stated in your Journal, you are the one that will be first to enter heaven on your good deeds and kind heart.

Mildred is the sweetest little old lady. I adore her. She never had children and her husband died many years ago so now she is left totally alone. I do her grocery shopping a couple of time a month for her and call her anytime I go to the store to see if I can pick up something for her as well. She gets meals on wheels during the week, so usually on weekends I will stop by and take her something I have made that day. Although I know she would love for me to stay longer, she is always very considerate of my time and knows I just pop in and out. Actually, she reminds me so of my grandmother who passed away a few years ago that it is my pleasure to do these things for her.

Was tempted to hop on the scale this morning, but declined. While my food yesterday was all l/c, just far too much of it. Didn't even track it in FitDay cause denial is a good thing sometimes!

Rob, yes, that nap was so nice yesterday but certainly did mess with my schedule. You and I both never get more than a few hours sleep at a time so naps can be a the deciding factor for our sleep that evening.

More light cleaning today around the house and finishing up laundry and I will have an entire weekend to relax!
