Interesting journal, enjoyed perusing the first pages.

A close friend of mine has worked for a number of years in a law firm, come to think of it she does drink a lot of bourbon, I love her dearly. Keep up the good work, GG. May all of your hopes and dreams come to fruition.

Looks around. This place *could* use a few more pieces of furniture.

GeeGee drags in an English horsehair and down sofa, a Chenille damask sofa, a custom antique upholstered chair, and four French leopard ottomans for the cozy cluster on the left. Then drags in a pair of Damask covered chairs, a large faux Dalmatian fur ottoman [yes, the pups are still alive], and a black octagonal table (use those coasters, dagnabbit).

GeeGee places a tiara or a crown on every seat. No, you dont have to wear it...but its really fun.

Mission Almost Accomplished? The Hunt for Black October

So, I got all 47 cover letters done. I spent an hour last night faxing all the ones that I could. I have 7 left to mail and 4 to be e-mailed.

Now, I wait. This is the worst part of job hunting. Waiting the appropriate amount of time before you start stalking er, calling each recipient to see if they are interested.

The waiting game is the most dangerous to my WOE. This is the prime time for me to start overeating on-plan food or picking at small bits of off-plan food. Like tonight. I'm going drinking. It's Andy's birthday and Ashlei wants to throw a small soiree for her nearest and dearest. Im excited. I am also sick to my stomach with fear.

This job hunt is stressful. The wait for the Bar results is stressful. The impact that my Bar result is having on my job hunt is very stressful--some jobs are asking for a copy of the Bar license and I wont have my scores back until SEPTEMBER. :crying:

My objective? My Bar scores come back in September. The goal is to get a job in August that will put my all my accounts in the Black by October.

I hope that I passed, I hope that I passed, I hope that I...
************************************************** ***

"John Lord, would ya slit someone else's wrists on my behalf? Yeah, watch the blood and the furniture, this stuff doesn't come cheap."

And no, it didnt occur to me to workout after I finished faxing the resumes and cover sheets. I reassured myself that my refusal to snack during the entire faxing process was all the contribution I could to my Fit Woman Campaign.

As a reward for not snacking, I gave my hair a deep conditioner -- complete with mud mask and heating cap. Needless to say, my bathtub looks like the Amazon river. I think my dog was barking at it. Maybe he saw an Anaconda...I dunno. I think I saw a pirahna. *Shrug.*

Yes, I left that mess in my tub. That's another thing. I lost a bunch of weight and also lost the ability to rid my life of clutter. I am about two newspapers short of turning into one of those people you see on television who has to have the County come over to clean up the house.

My entire closet is on my bedroom floor. There is mud in the bathroom sink and tub. I did wash the dishes on HeyKim's birthday cuz I think she requested that in her thread. And the books. I have mini Towers of Great Lit. along the walls of my living room. this leaves no room for actual furniture and semi sorta explains why I have furniture in my thread. Either that or the madness is finally setting in.

But seriously, compulsive hoarding is some sort of a complex psycho-logical disorder. I checked it out at http://www.bio-behavioral.com/hoarding.asp
I even printed the page. It babbled on about organization, sorting, strategies and reducing the acquisition of new things.

The last sentence said something about "pharmacological interventions" to address symptoms of anxiety and depression."

*thinksforamoment*

Ok. Its been five minutes and I didnt come up with anything. I am stressed out. I do not believe I am exhibiting signs of anxiety or depression. I admit I may be in denial considering the current disarray at my home. To my credit, my home isnt dirty--just cluttered. If you clicked on the website...I am exhibiting:
#1: I have books from High School and Undergrad. I'm in my 30s.
#3: I have the books lined up like mini towers around the edge of the living room and now no furniture fits in there. I have hills of clothing on the floor in my bedroom. I will probably wash all of those this weekend. *I know what you are thinking and the answer is*..."actually, I do laundry once a week so there is only 6 pairs of worn clothing in a hill--the base of other hills are laundry baskets. In a nutshell, I do the laundry, bring it back in a laundry basket and leave it in the middle of the floor. And yes, there are books in the bedroom too.
#4: The mail (last months, yesterdays and todays will be there when I get home...on the dining room table and on the chairs...under the books)
#6: I have always loved reading. I define myself by my books.
#7: My bff offered to have her brother and sister catalog the books into an excel spreadsheet so that I could sell them as used books on Amazon. I really, deep down, dont want them touching my books.
#8: I have a lot of books. And mail. And clothes. I did develop the habit of throwing away clothes that are too big for me...
#9. My bff is really bothered by the books and I get annoyed b/c I dont understand why my stuff bothers her.

I've covered all 4 elements (writing, awareness, motivation, goal). I heading over to Amazon to find out the process on selling used books. I should probably plan what to eat/drink tonight at the soiree.

Element 5 = feedback from Visitors to GeeGee's living room. "Did you pick up some other compulsion after you stop overeating?", "Did you become neater or messier after you lost weight?", "How much are you willing to pay for a collection of Ayn Rand novels?"

Gee Gee, I certainly remember waiting on the Bar results...... it's a VERY long wait for certain. I agree, the job market is difficult for graduating law students.... there are just far too many lawyers flooding the market at this time due to the greed of law schools allowing so many students to enroll. I formerly was a prosecutor in TX, but now work for a private law firm in Kansas City. Good luck with your job searching endeavors and don't get too frustrated..... it is a long process to find both an employer and a career that YOU will be happy with in law.

Texanflowr--
The Kansas bar....
I hear its like 12 to 15 essays on one day and then MBE the next...

Did they lie?

Junieshops--

I would hire it out....if I really thought it would help. Am I overanalyzing? I think that I need to address the reason that I am hoarding. Otherwise I'd be hoarding again.

Ok. Ok. I'm hoarding again. I used to live in a house. When I moved, I donated at least 75% of the stuff I had.

*It's baaaaaaaaaaaaack*

My co-worker, after watching the collection of boxes in my office grow into a tower, told me that I hoard because I believe that the world is unsafe. My response? "Whachutomboutcoworker?"

*shrug* If you lost weight and you arent hoarding...then maybe this falls into that "Choice" category Goddess spoke about in another thread...and I should choose to stop hoarding.

GeeGee bangs her head against a wall of books....

GeeGee, no, unfortunately, they did not lie about the Kansas Bar..... its a tough one. I took both Kansas and Missouri Bars the same year..... I was REALLY maxed out, however, I had already passed the Texas Bar ten years before and had been practicing law, so had a lot more legal background than someone just graduating from law school. I did take classes to prepare for the bar exams in Kansas and Missouri before taking them, and as you know, those are VERY expensive.

Yes. Very expensive. I'll probably hold on to those books in case I decide to take another state bar. Was the background check for Kansas and Missouri extensive?

Oh my, isnt Oil and Gas law on the Texas bar????

GG, I was a hoarder before I ever lose a lb so I can't help there, although I recently decided to let go of the 10,000 worth of laptops and parts I had picked up as a hobby ( teaching myself how to repair and rebuild them) and now just need to figure out how to get rid of them without it being a total loss.:(

Greetings...love whatchuv done to the place...mmmmm...leapord skin...my fave!!

Sounds like we have a bit of the same compulsions. After the overeating compulsion was under control, I turned my attention to clothes, clothes, clothes!! My bedroom sounds very much like yours. And books too!! They're everywhere...and I think they've started to breed...ack...kinda like tribbles. I'm always finding a couple that I have no recollection buying...so I suspect that Joyce Carol Oates is having a little fling with Yeats when the lights are out!

Don't worry...I find that if you stack 'em just right...makes quite an eye-catching end table(s). Get yourself a couple dozen cats and you'll be set...

I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for your bar exam results and job hunting!

I found my Writing Samples. That is a good thing. I did not find the disks. That means I need to retype the Samples. I guess I could be retyping it now.

Instead, Im going to take a nap after my laundry dries.
