Ambition, another snack, although not portable but acceptable for evenings, is to whip cream and add some protein powder to it. I've used soy protein isolate, and also whey protein. Just add it by the spoonful as the cream whips, until you get the consistency you want. Don't add too much, or you'll have a really thick mess! I sometimes add some DaVinci's syrup to this, too. It's a nice sort of pudding that has extra protein, which is usually good to have in the evening. This is one to experiment with, so you know just how much protein powder to add. I've forgotten about this dessert, I may have to resurrect it tonight!

Your plan is quite sound. Oh! Another snack you might consider is pepperoni, either fresh from the bag, or baked into chips. Just have napkins handy, because it can get greasy. And parmesan cheese, dropped onto a sheet pan and baked into chips is also a good snack. The powdered kind doesn't work as good as fresh, or the kind you buy in a jar. I forget the brand, but I buy some in a jar at WalMart that's right next to the Kraft and WalMart powdered in the green or black can. It's just shredded parmesan, or parmesan romano. I like the jars, too, because they're a nice size to use to store other stuff when they're empty.

Congratulations on your 1 lb loss, too!

Thanks for the great snack ideas Nita. Would you be really really kind and give me the address for your one minute muffin recipie. I dont browse much in other areas than challenge club and journalling and it might take me a while to locate the recipie. I know I went through it once a long time ago and did not know where to get that speical flour or the main ingredient that you use in it?

Hey Nita, I found the recipie, now the dumbest question is where can I get flaxseed meal (and/or mix with almond meal). You can tell I dont do much grocery around my house, my hubby gets the necessary stuff and he has no idea where to find this??

I buy my flaxseed meal from netrition.com and the Bob's Red Mill organic golden is the absolute best. Some people buy the seeds and grind their own into meal in an electric coffee grinder or other such contraption. Most health food stores should carry flaxseed meal, too. I don't recommend getting it at WalMart. I bought some there, and just didn't care for the taste. I think it was going rancid. I keep mine in the freezer, except for a canisterful in the fridge for making the one minute muffin.

The OMM is so versatile that you can use other ingredients, too. Try protein powder, if you have it on hand. Or Carbquik, if you use it. Or almond meal. My absolute favorite is chocolate peanut butter. Use pnb instead of butter, and a heaping tsp of cocoa. Then I like to add cinnamon and ginger for a spice muffin. You can use coconut oil, and add coconut. I've even used coconut instead of the flaxseed meal. It makes an interesting muffin. If you use whey protein powder, it makes a much drier muffin. It's good sliced with sweetened strawberries on top, and a little whipped cream. I've gotten to where I have to have a muffin every day, either for breakfast, or evening snack, or both!

    Day # 45:
5 days away from the midpoint of the 100 day count and I have another 1 pound loss to report. I did it! I reached my goal of loosing 10 lbs in the first half of my 100 day count (From 146 down to 136 lbs). Now the idea is to keep them off for the next 5 days :( I am currently going through a whoosh I guess and I am claiming the numbers on the scale. If nothing else it will give me the motivation to reach up to my signature in future

    Day # 46:
I checked the scale this morning and I am maintaining the the loss of last few pounds . However, I think that I am becoming scale obsessive now. I am on it every single morning. Today I was almost panicy before going on it because I was afraid that I must have gained back the lost pounds. So I have decided to take a break from the scale atleast until this weekend. I have decreased my carb intake in hope to sustain the loss and did some measurements this morning to see if there is any changes with the recent whoosh and found that I have lost 2 inches off my waist and 1 inch off my hips (these hips and thighs are just too resistant to change). Anyways I am really happy with these downward trends and hope to keep away from the scale till weekend.

Okay ladies. I need help! again! with my desire to persist.

I have a couple of females in my family whom I am always comparing myself to (I just cannot help it). One is just naturally gifted with great metablism I guess and is currently weighing 105 lbs on her 5ft 3in frame (and she has a 2 year old). The other one was really slim to start with but after having 2 kids has been struggling with weight issues. However, when she starts loosing, she can loose a lot at a time. Both of these ladies are coming to visit us (from out of state) in the end of June and one will stay with us for a month. I just found out from reliable sources that both of them are in their best shapes now and that sends me in a state of panic . Now granted that I have lost some weight but I am sure I will look blah in front of them and I certainly can not take it for the duration of a month!!! This makes me feel like I should jump on that scale right now, but what if I might have gained even one pound back . That will be really really horrible for my eating esteem and next thing I know, I will be sitting somewhere with a box of chocolate cookies :o .

I know it is bad to compare but I know myself too, I just can not help when it comes to these two individuals. Now dont get me wrong, I like and respect them both and I think that it is nice to have some healthy challenge in front of me. I am also glad that they are in their best shapes but I want to look the same too. I just need some motivation to persevere so I can loose successfully in the next month and then can also be regarded as being "in the best shape that I have ever been in".

Nita, if you remember from your previous 100 day challenge, it was around the 50 day mark (I was exactly 10 lbs lighter) after which I lost my interest and motivation and gained back some of the weight that I had lost in the first 50 days. I simply dont want to repeat the pattern. That will be really really really bad for my morale!

You can do this... I've always found knowing people are coming that are in better shape is a great motivator.. I don't know how far you are from goal... but, if you work out and watch your diet... in 6 weeks ... you can accomplish a lot. I just dropped 5 lbs in about 2 weeks because I had procrastinated and oops all of sudden that reunion I wanted to look for was here... so, just stick with it.. you will be amazed what you can do...

    Ambition,

First put that scale away. It means nothing. You could be loosing inches and gaining muscle. If you ate right and worked out, you could loose 10 lbs of fat, and gain 10 lbs of lean muscle mass and still weigh the same. However you would look far different and fabulous, if you ask me.

It is really hard not to compare ourselves to other, I do it with my mother all the time. Im not sure that I am the person to give advice on staying motivated. However use their coming as a motivator. Say to yourself, I want to be as healthy and strong as I possibley can be when so and so arrives. That is all you can do.

Keep up the good work and dont look at the scale it lies.
