Thanks Beach & Flowr, for stopping bye.. I've been reading and posting nadda..

I've been so busy... had a great lunch with a long time friend (started to say old, decided I didn't like that word) on Friday, with a little wine in the afternoon.

Company last night for dinner and viisting.

To my sister's today a couple of hours away. Casual lunch with her adult children and grandchildren. SIL came by and DS... all in all a very nice day.

Ate very well Friday... and Saturday almost, today just forget it.

But tomorrow is another day... getting ready for company that is coming for 3 weeks.. my mom & cousin for probably a week, then my mom will go home and the cousin will stay for 2 more weeks... maybe I'll be on line more then

Flowr... all my friends will tell you I am quite good at handing out advice..so beware

Another day trip.... off for meds & dr. visit for DH. The doc gave him a good report for the shape he is in .... as he says.. if he had known he was going to live this long he would have taken better care of himself..

We had a great dinner with dsd and dssil.. Over indulged..but all in all it was a fine time. Tomorrow to KC, I'll wave at Texanflowr as I drive by

Stocked the shelves today... plenty of low carb and not much else... threw away the junk food coupons that had accumulated.

The good news... had a bone density test and my results showed an improvement.. isn't that amazing at this age you are supposed to be deteriorating. I attribute this to the weight lifiting and cardio I've been doing for the last couple of years. Cholestrol also has gone done almost 20 points. Following a good eating plan and exercising does pay off. Way to go Bert!! Now just stay on track.. and SUCCESS WILL BE YOURS :jump: :jump:

Hey Bert - I've heard that bone density can improve if one works on it - so lucky us for finding the tools eh!

Thanks my friends... bones are good... still working on the padding on those bones.

Beach... wish you could tell me how you figured out your metabolism...and what worked for you... I'm really thinkin' I need to do something a little different... maybe I shouldn't have eaten that pecan roll while ago???

I'm going to check out the Zone diet... I've done low carb and I've not done anything very carefully for quite some time. Low carb, low cal, ... portion I think is a major issue..

It should be so easy to drop this last 15 lbs... but, it's as dense as my bones. At least though tests show I am healthy.

A great visit with DIL from AZ this evening. Cuz from CA has been nice to have at our house. Mom is dong great. Big celebration in this area for the past week and on through this weekend. Lots of food vendors and entertainment. Skip the food and just enjoy entertainment eh?

Berta - if bone density has increased wouldn't that mean that body fat percentage went down? I mean even if you have stayed at the same weight.

Heya Bert - old mate - ha! you are the only person I can use that term with - (its a very affectionate term in Aus I hasten to add!) H'm'm - metabolism -yep - strange critters those. Well - I read others stories on here - and so many people have written that they were 'chunky, plump, round children/young people - whereas I was never like that. My problem was always underweight. So I started thinking what had changed. I also had the experience that my hair when a child was a mass of ringlets - then between about 20 and 55 it was straight as sticks. Then - suddenly - after menopause (sorry TMI for the men!) it suddenly went crinkle crinkle - and I have this mass of grey curly hair! Amazing stuff! Then the penny dropped - ah ha! hormonal! So I began to think - start eating what you used to do - but also - I was dancing about 5 hours daily from 2 and 1/2 until about 27 and walking about 6 miles daily and when I worked (from about 15-25) I was on my feet most of the time. Further - I had a lot of energy and drive. So - did masses of 'remembering' and actually went through a lot of personal exploration/growth stuff too. (I'm a D & A counsellor - so had a few clues) To conclude (and deepest apologies for hijacking your journal - but wanted to answer your question) I needed to get back to basics with food, exercise and attitude. AND I also discovered along the way - that I'm happiest livin alone - living with another changes my whole outlook - SO - there ya have it! Food, exercise, lots of activity and a positive attitude, a divorce and my old metabolism is zingin along on it - in fact, as a very dear friend of mine said 'you've found yourself again' and she is right! But its a bit more than finding myself - because my young self never had this much confidence or this skill/resource base from which to project. My only issue is - I've got to watch that I don't become too thin again! Ah - be careful what you wish for dear Berta - you just might get it eh!!!

Thanks, Beach.. old mate (that's us) I had the same kind of child hood... very picky eater, thin, till puberty (my TMI for the men). You really have given me some thoughts... did the same walking everywhere.. no dancing in my life.. guys who dance with me never ask again.. except bless his heart or feet DH. I've been wanting to ask you these questions for some time.. you gave me enough information in other posts to whet my inerest..

Staying pretty much on track food wise and started back to gym after being so neglectful.. lifing weights, treadmill, eliptical...

Company here for another week, saints perserve us...

Good on ya Bert - I wish you every success with your journey. See my journal - personally, for me - it was the self images that had gone wrong - or rather I had the priority incorrect - now that I've fixed it - green lights ahead all the way - GO GO GO!

Berta - I'm reminded of the old adage "house guests are like fish, after 3 days they start to stink".

I always love the idea of house guests - until they arrive! I'm not good at it! I like people coming over - yes, staying over - no!
