Default Losing forty pounds, one at a time!

Here I go again! I have to keep reminding myself that a journey can only start with just one step. I feel secure this time because I've got the knowledge, the motivation and a fridge full of healthy meats and veggies. It seems impossible but I've looked at a lot of the before and after pics of other members and I know it can be done. I took a pic of myself in a two piece bathing suit and it's atrocious! Why did I let myself get like this? I guess the important thing now is to do something about it. So here's to me and my improvements, one meal at a time!

Thanks Tina, you guys are awesome!

Yesterday I had a cheese omelet, then I had grilled chicken and salad for lunch and dinner. I weighed myself this morning and lost a good deal of water weight. I wasn't surpried b/c yesterday I felt like the bladder control commercial...gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now...but anyway, it was a perfect eating day and for breakfast today I had 3 strips of bacon and 2 eggs over easy.

Part of my past problem with sticking to LC has been boredom. I don't have a lot of time to cook so I need quick, simple food choices. I'm trying to figure out what to have for dinner today because if I let hunger catch me off guard...McDonalds here I come. I bought some beautiful green, yellow and red peppers and I imagine they would taste great cooked with some sausage. I need a recipe though.

11/04/05 180 lbs

Down three pounds, have had two meals today and they were lower calorie. Lower than my usual that is. Gotta make sure I eat salad for dinner tonight. I'm gonna try eating lower carb and smaller portions without the junk food and see if that will make me drop also.

One of the easiest things I do with peppers is to slice them up, saute them until they are just starting to get some color on them (I love the charred bits), pour on a bit of salsa and serve them on a grilled chicken breast, some browned sausage, or with some fajita meat.

It sounds like you're doing really well so far

I did the peppers and salsa over sausage and it was delicious! Had I eaten it with just a salad I would have been fine but I did my usual, I slathered it between two slices of french bread and I couldn't stop there. I know that consuming a bit of refined carbs just sets me up for a binge but I keep telling myself that I can handle just a little bit when I know that I can't. But today is a new day and I'm back on track. I was down six pounds but I gained three back.

I need to stop talking about it and just do it but for some reason I don't. Maybe I want to stay overweight because most of the time, I'm not even hungry when I eat. I'm depressed, sick and I can't help myself. I feel lousy and I can't seem to get it together. I lost weight before, why can't I do it again?

Hi Toni,

Nice to visit your journal. You start it with really good spirit but now seem to get a little upset due to the binging. I know it is hard but you need to get over those episodes as quickly as possible to prevent any further damage. I know I am preaching something that I very seldom follow myself, but I am well aware of the damages that can occur by just thinking about and getting all depressed about the slips.
I am currently going through the same emotions as yours. I lost some weight and gained 4 lbs back in just 2 days of uncareful eating. I feel like giving up but I know it will not solve the problem. So Let us get up again and join the race to weight loss.
Good luck. You can do it :great:

You're so right about the binges. We both know that it's gonna mess up our weight loss but we keep doing it! Yesterday, I was determined to stay on track. I bought some low carb protein shakes and had one when I wanted some chocolate. I had a great eating day and I even got in some exercise. If I eat well today, I will be "in the pink" tomorrow! I just need to figure out why I eat things that keep me fat and unhealthy and I need to stop it. I had a great day yesterday and here's to today!

Toni - for the first time since I've been lowcarbing lo these 7 years, I bought an Atkins shake. Chocolate Royale or someting like that. I thought it would be the "answer" for my chocolate cravings. I had my hopes set on it.

The craving hit. I drank the shake. It was a big let down.

If I could figure out what makes me eat when I'm not hungry, I'd sell that answer for big bucks. The only comfort I can offer is this: you are in good company because most everyone on these boards goes through periods of grazing on carby foods when they're not hungry.

We just realize that life goes on and we start over the very MOMENT the food has been eaten, and try again.

Thanks for letting me post in your journal.

I bought the exact same shakes! So now today is Friday and I've been so good! I even did some yard work today. That's three consecutive days of actual physical activity, not much but much more that I usually do. So I'm gonna try to remember my goals when I'm tempted with sugary food and I'm working this weekend. I always get bored, frustrated and in need of a sugar fix while I'm at work. I'm gonna post Monday morning and I'm gonna be "in the pink" and down a pound or two!

Congrats to me! This is the first weekend that I've worked and didn't gorge on cheese fries and a fried chicken sandwich. I had roast beef and a salad! I ate 8 crackers and 2 tbs of peanut butter, not ideal but better than the usual 2 or 3 krispy kreme donuts that I usually buy. So, I must say...I'm proud of myself and I feel really good!

The last couple of days when I felt the need to eat something other than my meat and veggies, I bought Campbell's Soup at Hand (creamy mushroom) and it satisfied me. It's sooo good and though it has 10 carbs, 6 are fiber and it's only 120 calories. It's got a boatload of sodium, but I'll fine tune my eating later. Right now I'm just cutting out the over processed carbs and losing fat.

I've been wearing pajama bottoms lately b/c I looked like a stuffed sausage in my size 12 jeans. I put em on today (after losing 7 lbs)and I looked pretty good. OK, I did have a sweater on but still. One day soon I'm gonna slip em on with a tee and my kids won't get nauseated when they see me.
