Morning, Rob. I love your dog stories. Makes me want to go out and get a big old cuddly pup, but I think I'll pass for now. Have a good day.

I loved the Sophie story! What a great dog. I love dogs but we can't have one where we live. We had a shop dog here at work for 5 years, a coonhound/lab mix named Daisy....whom I adored. She was becoming less tolerant of small children and smaller dogs so my boss found her a home where she could retire and not have to come to work anymore...it broke my heart. I cried for 2 weeks....would have taken her myself if I possibly could have. Anyhow...was walking this morning on my new path and wishing I had a dog to walk with me....thought of you and yours.

Rhonda - hate to hear you're having that kind of weather. Dangerous to drive in.

Kim - Wish I had a decent rotisserie oven thingy. My toaster oven has a rotisserie atatchment but if i put anything bigger than a single cornish game hen it doesn't turn. Found that out the hard way when i cooked a chicken super well done (you'd have loved that) on one side and near raw on the other. Thanks for the reminder on the G.F. I was about to pan grill a chicken breast. Now I'll use George! Sophie isn't well trained she just knows where her self interest lies.

    Thanks Gregg!

Nita - Wanting a dog and actually having one are 2 different things. You need to make a substantial investment of time as well as money.

    Thanks April!

Vickie - Sad story about the work dog! I get so attached to pets I know, even when they aren't mine.

    KAtie - HI!

Took sandy to the vet for her last set of vaccinations. Finally. Though she does have to go back Feb 24 for some follow up work. Sophie is also due the same day so that saves time.

walked 5 1/2 miles at Tanglewood and about one mile at I hate Rob's knees hill park.

Rob....how do you keep track of the miles you walk? Do you use a pedometer? I'm asking because I would like to get one but I know less than nothing about them. So I thought if you used one you might be able to give me some pointers on what to look for when shopping. Have a super great day

Rob, you know how far gone I am over dogs, I loved Sophie's story. She's such a smart girl. Take a peak in my journal for a picture of Modie having Christmas dinner, and before the picture there's a an account of what he did to us Sunday night.

Vickie - Yes I always use a pedometer. I have bought and lost or broken a dozen of them in the past so I generally don't buy the really expensive ones. I usually pay 8 to 12 dollars. One tip i can give you has been a real help to me. Instead of measuring your stride length find a measured mile. Maybe a race course for runners or drive your car exactly one mile from your home and note the place. Then walk that mile and see what your pedometer says. Adjust the stride length up or down until the pedometer reads one mile (approx). Start with 17.5 inches as that's supposed to be the average persons stride. Unless you're very short or very tall.

    Susie - Mosie's a sweetie pie!

No walk today unfortunately. Rained on and off all day. Glad for a day to rest to tell the truth.

Peddos are imperatives for significant walks eh! I'm just surprised the pups don't have one each - and Splenda isn't sporting one around the living room!

rotisserie... AHHHHHHHHHHH is THAT how its spelled *L*
yeah.. i know.. moon put it on the wrong thingy the first time and it didnt turn... so he went to the larger thingy and stabbed it in and it twirls great... and YES i would have liked the TOO WELL done .. in fact that is EXACTLY what i like about the rotisserie (vertical) that it DOES make the top well done and dry.. while the bottom stays juicy and nasty like moon likes it... *L*

btw.. i WALKED today... and WHAT???????? my mentor did NOT?

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks for the pedometer tips, Rob! I guess I can get one now and go to the high school football field since I know that the track is a 1/4 mile.

I'd sure like to know if I walk any significant amount in a given day. It sometimes feels like I never get to sit down... obviously NOT true, since I'm sitting here typing right now.

Google's word of the day "renascent \rih-NAS-uhnt\, adjective:
Springing or rising again into being; showing renewed vigor.

Sounds like me today! going to be beautiful spring-like day. Sunny and 66. Global warming has its good side. lol

Beach - LOL @ the picture in my mind of sophie checking her pedo. not to mention sandy and splenda (who would twirl endlessly if I ever put a pedo on her).

Kim - Your "mentor" walked 39 miles in the first 10 days of this month. I think it's time to defrost one of the cornish hens that's been in my freezer a while. If you make cornish hens put yours on top!

Katie - Good idea about the track. Just be sure you know where the quarter mile ends. It depends on whether you take the inside lane or the outside lane. but not sure exactly how that works.

Took a picture of Sandy this morning. I;ll post it below. She's almost sophie's weight (within a pound) but because she's long-haired she looks bigger.
