| One can obtain ethnic identification in a number of ways. I'm also part Lebanese, if you count DH#1. We have a son, so I have to celebrate his heritage. I learned to make hummus and kibby and yogurt and stuffed grape leaves. It's just part of the journey.

| I can see I'm going to have to spend even MORE time in journals. Great fun Maggie and this is only page 1 (for me since i'm set at 20 posts per page).

| Well, the motion, so to speak, is still pending, since I may change my mind at any time, lock this sucker and let it sink to the bottom. I already feel opressed, in spite of my "rules." LOL! But I'll let it go for another day or so. Today was a beautiful day. The sun was out and it was nice and mild. Tomorrow I'll take a sea shell to Bunny & Lou's grave. I understand it's bad form to visit this cemetary on Shabbat. Traditionally, it would be a rock, but Bunny insisted, when her husband died, that sea shells were better. "Who the hell wants a rock?" she'd say. "This part of the world is full of ****ing rocks. Better you should leave something you'd bring back from a cruise ... but leaving jewelry or cigarettes is a bad idea." she'd confide. I'll respect her tradition. I'm color mousseing my hair. ![]() I've obtained some - probably toxic as they all are - substance that is a deposit only color. Basically a filler. My aim is to get back to where I was with no permanent color on my hair. I'm SICK TO DEATH of fooling with it on a regular basis and, since I wear it long, I'm sick to death of the way the ends are dying faster than I can cut them off. ... which means it's getting shorter. So I tried this new stuff by Loreal called Pulse. I'm basically a medium brown with a little grey coming in and I'm hoping that the lighter and greyer strands pick the red up enough to look like highlights. The plan here is that by going to a darker shade of red, it will camouflage the transition between roots and everything else and I can slowly get back to a "non-processed" state from which I can return to normal (whatever that is at this point) by just stopping and letting it fade out. I like the red, but really regret having gone to permanent color a few years ago. I'll see how it turns out when it dries. I already know it won't go 8-10 shampoos as it advertises, since the cure for "if it stains your scalp" is "shampoo." Blech! I just hope it doesn't come off on my pillow tonight. ![]() Since I cleaned out all my closets about a week ago, I found a lot of my needlework stuff. Today, after grocery shopping, I spent an hour or so by an open window and crocheted a potholder and a trivet out of some multi-color yarn I'd forgotten I'd bought, which has the raspberry and morning glory colors that go with my kitchen. I thought I might have forgotten how to do it. I remembered better than I thought. .... although, looking at the pics, I need to "re-learn" how to use my camera. They look all warped in the picture, but not so warped on the table. LOL!

| oh man.. i have used the red shades of pulse... pretty uh.. VIBRANT to say it mildly *L*... i ended up using only the blond shades so that i would get the filler without the color *L* i understand TOtally what ya mean mag... it is a pain in the patoot to do the roots... i end up slathering it EVERYWHERE... so the ends get crappy... so i use more conditioner.. which means less color... which means coloring more often..blah blah blah.. i dont think i would EVER go to natural myself tho..*L* i couldnt stand my hair the way it was BEFORE i started coloring it... so i know i wouldnt want it NATURAL now! let me know how it goes.. but ya dont have to feel like you have to post it here.. uh.. sneak it into your regular couch fauxtato thread ... no one will notice.. heh heh.. no pressure here! |

| Ahh...a fellow sufferer in the hair color wars. HATE the need to hide the roots and gray temples every 3 weekes!! But...I'm with Kim...just can't let it go back to natural now...maybe when I hit 60! Again, I'm with Kim...no pressure to be here every day. Besides, while your busy, your nemesis FPIOBSH will probably invoke squatter's rights and set up his lounge act here. |

| Maggie - Ditto on the no need to be here every day. you can be gone for a week and come back to find they've been partying in your journal. LOL NOT a clue on the hair color thing.

| Another day, another trivet. Boy, you're right, Kim. INTENSE is a good description of that Pulse stuff. But it does disguise my root issue. Looking at my roots as I was putting this stuff on, I could see that I still don't have much grey, so I'm thinking I may back off toward the mahogany shade, which is a closer (if still completely and intensely unnatural) match to my natural color. Speaking of unnatural things, I've got to go do my nails. Back to work tomorrow.

| nice to see you in a *journal* maggie. I love your humor. well, I'm getting rid of the RED, going with the blonder look. But still red underlying, so its coming out more strawberry. I refuse to pay the $155 anymore for the highlighting. Going to give it a try myself in the coming week. Any suggestions would be appreciated. please......
