I drank 96 ounces of water yesterday. I'm going to try to do that today too. I say "try" because we are going out of town today and I really don't care to use public restrooms. Yuck.

I did some reading and found out I've been making some mistakes about carb counts and whether something has sugar in it or not. Ignorance is not bliss in this case. I should have listened to the advice on reading labels and reading the Atkins books.

Baby, we've all learned our lesson about reading labels. And don't take it for granted that a product stays the same. I used to buy some pre-cooked sausage patties at WalMart because they did not add sugar to them. A few months later I just happened to look at the label, and they had sugar. (I still can't figure out why they put sugar or corn syrup in meat!)

Eat as much fresh as you can. You don't have to read a label on a head of lettuce!

Nita, I agree, fresh is best. And it tastes better too.

Pain again. I did drink about 72 ounces of water though. My weight seems to go up and down by a few pounds. Oh well.

I'm in a flare again (arthritis pain and stiffness). I mention my pain every now and then because I used to eat to comfort myself whenever I had a flare-up of pain. The lc eating seems to really be helping with that problem. My appetite is under control and that alone feels great.

My weight is back down which makes me feel better emotionally. Physically I feel rotten, emotionally I feel great.

I'm thinking of firing my Rheumatologist and finding one that will listen to my complaints instead of dismissing them.

The fourth of July is coming up and my daughter wants to make the annual "flag" cake. On the top of the cake we decorate it like a flag using strawberries and blueberries and white frosting. It's become a tradition in our house and it's a lot of fun.

Just thought I'd mention what LC books I have now. I started off with just The Atkins Essentials and then bought Atkins for Life. (or was it the other way around) I just recently bought Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. What a thick book. I haven't read the whole thing yet but I think I'm going to bookmark some of the pages and highlight the sections that pertain to my problem areas.

I think my desire to eat off-plan is under control again. Maybe seeing that I'm not losing any weight could have something to do with it too. I'm afraid to eat strawberries again because that's what seems to have been the start of my stall.

Well I'm going to continue on and do what I know is right for me. I know that drinking water is good and sticking close to 20 carbs (more or less) and just basically eating the foods that I have been eating for the last 2 1/2 months.

You too. My daughter wants me to get off the computer and make the frosting for her flag cake.

Good news. I think I may be on the weight loss track again. I was in a stall after I cheated and after eating strawberries.

I've decided my weight fluctuates greatly and the real measure of weight loss is the tape measure and how my clothes fit. Still I can't seem to kick the "scale habit". And I've been warned not to weigh myself too much. Hard habit to break.

Baby, I'm convinced that the scale is not a very accurate measure of our progress. I have a very accurate set, and yet it keeps weighing me 6-7 lbs above my lowest weight so far. I am exercising lots more, drinking lots of water, being careful about my food, and still no lbs dropped, and yet my pants are looser. I'm just going to stick the scales in the closet and bring them out once in a blue moon.

Had a good day today. I didn't feel too much pain. I wasn't too hungry. And best of all (weight-loss-wise) I found a old pair of jeans I can fit back into. That helped make the day great.

The other thing that was great about today was the parade and getting out and seeing some people that we haven't seen in awhile. It was a beautiful day weather-wise too.

    Happy Fourth of July!

I got on the scale again. I measured myself and found that I had lost a 1/2 inch here and there so maybe it's true.

I'm trying very hard to stay away from strawberries. The fresh ones are soooo good. I did have a slice this morning and knew I had to stop or I would be tempted to continue and end up eating the whole thing.

I've been soooo busy these past few days. (well it's summer and who hasn't been busy) My husband had us running around looking for a new pick-up truck and yesterday he found it and today we drove it home. Now we are poor.

I have been feeling pretty good since yesterday, arthritis-wise. I still get so tired though and I'm not sure what that's from yet. I've been trying to figure it out on my own before I talk to a doctor.

I've been busy and have been neglecting some of the things I have been saying that I will get to in regards to lcing and exercise. I don't measure my food 'cause I really hate that. I don't believe I've been cheating at least not outright. I use redi-whip which has some sugar in it but I have still lost weight despite eating it. I have been trying to keep my carbs as close to 20 as I can.

I have yet to really commit to exercise. I know, shame on me. I also need to work on procrastinating. Maybe I need to remember to take baby steps, one step at a time.

Chris, you can be losing and it doesn't show up on the scale at all, only the tape measure and your clothes.

I procrastinated a long time on the exercise, too. When I finally made a place dedicated to just exercise, then it was easier to make it a daily thing (except Sunday, I do NOT exercise on Sunday, it's my day to veg out!) But when I started doing it regularly, I found that it really is easing the arthritis in my knees. (Osteo) Try to find some exercise that you can do, that you'll stick with, that you won't wimp out when it's too hot or too rainy. Have you ever tried any walking tapes, like Leslie Sansome? She's quite good, and you can go at your own pace. I also like Oxycise, which has some seated exercise, if you are unable to stand to do them. There is a lot of deep breathing in those exercises, too.

One small step at a time. That's all we can do. If I can get regular on exercising (I am a long-time, hard-core NON-exerciser!), then anyone can do it.

Nita, maybe that's what I need, my own little place to exercise and my own time to exercise and just make it a habit. I did that with the water. I just decided that that's what I needed to do and went ahead and did it. Sometimes I don't drink as much as I should but then I determine to do better the next day and it works.
