    Smile Stars Goal 2006

ok, the title had to have a play on words since I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. Today is their last chance to stay in the Stanley Cup playoffs for this year.
But on to the purpose of this journal.
I've been told by all my doctors to lose weight so that's exactly what I'm gonna do. The only way I've ever been successful at losing is by low carbing. Unfortunately what helps my arthritis is a Mediterranean diet, lots of olive oil, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, not much meat. In fact during the Arthritis Walk yesterday one of the sponsors spoke of eating low protein so my big challenge will be low carb without overdoing the protein. I like a good steak though so it's all tough. I do like fish, I guess I could cook more fish. I had a great shrimp pasta at Islamorda yesterday but now that's off the menu.

    eggs and sausage:
    protein: 15
    carbs: 2

    hot green tea

    Hi star.

I have arthritis too. It's quite severe and I'm on lots of medication and some of them pretty strong. I don't walk right now but I am hoping when the weather is nicer to go for walks in the state park. I love walking in there and I used to go frequently.

It's good you started a journal, I know it's helped me out quite a bit and you just can't beat the advice from people who know what their talking about. I'm not one of them though because I just started myself.

Have a good day and good luck to you.

Hello, Star. Those with RA who want to limit meat can still do low carb. Here's a website to a blog through Carbwire with some interesting info on doing vegetarian low carb.

Hope it's helpful info for you. And I wish you all success on your low carb journey.

    thanks babystepping and QueenMama!

I'm sorry you have arthritis too babystepping. Thanks for the link QM. I'm sure that will help. I don't mind meat, but what I'm reading, it seems that the proteins cause arachidonic acid to form which causes the inflammation. I'm not sure I spelled that acid correctly. I like steaks, seafood, a good juicy burger. I do notice that beef causes some pain.

ok, on to today; I lost 2 pounds this weekend! What a great start. The rain has stopped so I'm getting ready to go for a walk this morning...gotta live up to that walking challenge.

    on a very sad note....

my stars are out of the playoffs. I'll cheer on the redwings now, tonight is their night.
it's not the same but they are the next best team in my opinion.

well, my redwings are gone now too :(
my son's predators are gone now too :(
now I guess I'll have no excuse to not get out and do the lawn work...no more tv to watch...

yesterday went ok. I didn't walk as far as I wanted due to muscle cramps. I started today with a shake and will go from there.

I got some walking in already this morning. This afternoon will be my big walking time, I'm going to a city walking path and will have about 4 hours to walk.
Dr. got on to my husband to get onto me this morning about how I'm supposed to take it easy and not be doing all this walking with my bum knee. but like my husband replied, 'how are you going to stop her' LOL!
