Hi, Mort. Congratulations for resisting the pizza crust. (It's my favorite part of the pizza, so I don't even get close to one!)

Have a great Sunday!

Allright Allright! Stop hounding me, Queen Mama - man, you are ruthless!

Actually, I did break rank and eat one piece, crust and all. But the rest of the day was really good...

Induction, Day 8:

Even if Queen Mama is looking over my shoulder, I'll say it was an excellent food day. Had eggs, bacon, cole slaw and cheese. Losta water. Had about 40 minutes of exercise, simple stuff...warmups, curls, triceps, squats, and abs.

Still energized!

Induction, Day 9

Once again, Pizza was supplied at work...and once again I ate a piece. Darn, but otherwise, it was an excellent food day: eggs, salad, pizza topping, bacon, cheese and water. Of course, I take 1 or 2 Centrium's each day to compensate for lack of variety of nutrients at this stage.

Limited exercise to some stretching, trunk twists, side bends...that I could do here at work when not busy.

Have good energy level, sleeping good, and feeling good. One thing hits me, though, is sometimes it feels like my stomach is empty even after I just ate. I know this feeling gets me when on the lowest amount of carbs, but it makes me want to eat something substantial...I dunno, like oatmeal or Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. It's not so much a craving for carbs, as it is a desire to fill an empty tummy.

Scale: 212 lbs

Induction, Day 10:

Great day, especially what I feel in my pants! lol...well, I mean that it is pretty obvious that my 36" *fat jeans* are slippin' down a bit, which is typically my best judge of progress (because, we all know the scale lies).

Had a good eating day...I substituted a salad for 2 servings of LC spaghetti squash meal that my dw made. It was awesome, even if it slightly challenges the carb threshhold. The rest of the day consisted of eggs, steak and Gorton's lemon pepper fish (2 servings, which is 4 fillets).

I really should have went to bed after getting off work this morning (Tues morning), but I got hooked playing Poker Stars, where I went from $6K in play money to $25K...then I stayed up another hour upgrading my wife's laptop computer by uninstalling Norton's Antivirus and loading Panda Software Suite. I woke up about 5:15 pm, just in time to see the kids in their Halloween Costumes as they were heading out the door to beg for candy.

I know you didn't mean it that way but when I first read this this morning I almost spit coffee out my nose!

Anyway...glad to hear that you are making good progress and feeling good about what's in your pants...I mean, about the way your pants are FITTING....oh my goodness...you have made me laugh this morning!

Have a great day

Heres a joke to start your day, Vickey. First, put down the coffee...

A man goes to a shrink and says, "Doctor, my wife is unfaithful to me. Every evening, she goes to Larry's bar and picks up men. In fact, she sleeps with anybody who asks her! I'm going crazy. What do you think I should do?"

"Relax," says the doctor, "Take a deep breath and calm down. Now, tell me, exactly where is Larry's bar?"

Induction, Day 11

A superb eating day consisting of a Western Omlette, steamed vegetables, 2 Gorton's fish fillets, and a serving of summer sausage. Maybe a bit shy on the waer today, so I better pick up the pace. There really is no excuse for the water shortage since my work supplies bottled water.

I've taken a couple of opportunities to stretch out, do some active stuff to keep the body in motion...but not enough to call it a workout.

Poker Stars play money is up to $29K...must sleep more.

Morning, Mort.

I think the best part of this way of life is seeing the clothes getting loose. One day you look in the mirror and think, why am I wearing these baggy pants? Or you notice that you're having to hike them up more. I notice that the legs get longer, as do my sleeves, and my shoes get bigger! It's so much fun!

Induction, Day 13

Still cruisin'...sticking with eggs, steak, ham, salad with veggies, and at least 80 oz of water. Doing small bursts of exercise once or twice each day, but I haven't been able to do but 2 actual workouts at home. I'm happy with the progress so far, and feeling good.

This is my last nite shift, so I can try to return to a regular schedule for awhile. Later this week, I'll be in for removing a bunion from my foot...so I will be in a cast for awhile with limited mobility. We'll see how that goes as far as diet and exercise, eh?

Thanks for the input QueenMama and FrannyGlass...if this wasn't fun, we wouldn't do it!

Day 14 of Induction on Sunday, Nov. 5th came and went...here is an update for the week.

Completed Induction smoothly, reached 210# on the scales with great improvements overall. The next day I took a day of moderate carbs (about 125 g), and then went back to LC.

Wednesday, Nov. 8th, I had surgery on my foot - removed a bunyan, so now I'm on crutches. I'm doing my best to LC, but have a few slips due to being less mobile. Luckily, the house is well-stocked with LC food, but taking pain medication and all affects everything in a wierd way.

I'm by no means giving in to the dark side! But I'm not bashing myself for eating a bit off plan. I'll get my wife to help me weigh myself in the next day or two just to see where I'm at.

BTW, the foot surgery went well. I had a follow up Xray, and the doc described my foot as "gorgeous". So it sounds like it went well.

Wow...you did have great success with induction.

Glad to hear that the surgery went well, and you'll heal even faster now that you have a few less pounds to carry around...nice job!!

Hello Me.

It's been about a month since my last entry...lots of stuff happened, but the bottom line is my weight today is 208# and pretty steady.

As I mentioned, I had a bunion removed from my foot on Nov. 8th, and have been recovering. Not supposed to have any weight on foot, keep it elevated to limit swelling, using crutches, etc. Today is my first day back at work (light duty).

I have remained on a rather relaxed LC schedule, where I allow roughly 100 grams of carbs per day, but pat myself on the back whenever I hold them below 60 g or so. I don't want to be too rough on myself, eh?

My family had a tough stretch at one point: 5 days after my Nov. 8th surgery, on Monday morning, my DW Kandy (who has a history of severe asthma) had such a bad time with her asthma that I called an ambulance to take her to the emergency room. Obviously, I was not much help being on pain pills and crutches. At the hospital, Kandy was stabilized in a few hours, but was going to need to stay there for several days to normalize her breathing using IV steriods and antibiotics.

Here's where the fun begins at home...I'm at home lying on the couch still in a bit of pain, head is swimming on Oxycodone - and a couple hours later, the 2 kids (ages 5 and 9) arrive home on the school bus and they are shocked that their usual "after school meal" is not waiting on them. We are all three hungry and somewhat helpless; due to either injury or age, there is no one to cook (or clean, or get groceries, etc.). We order a pizza, but the gravity of our situation is just beginning to dawn on us.

Our dire circumstance becomes more clear to me when I realize there is no way for me to get the kids off to school in the manner in which they are accustomed. Brandon is 9, which is no problem...but Kandy usually spends at least 30 minutes fixing our 5 year old girl up like a show dog for school (I'll call her Lauren, since that's her name...). Cute outfits, clean hair all combed and dolled up, matching socks, a jacket suited for the weather - crap like that. I figured I would just keep Lauren home from Kindergarten...no problem, but what about taking care of her at home all day long?

My mother-in-law saves the day! She arrived about 6 pm, made some dinner, picked up the house, and even came over each morning to get Lauren ready for school. Bath and everything! I would have hated to have Lauren miss all that school.

Of course, during Hell Week (Monday - Friday), Lauren got sick and needed to be taken to the doctor for meds, and just to make sure we weren't fully appreciating all that my DW does on a day-to-day basis, the 9 year old (Brandon) had to have his 10th Birthday fall on Wednesday of Hell Week, Nov. 15th.

My wife got home from the hospital on Friday evening, Nov. 17th, and by that time I was off the pain pills and could function a little better, so Kandy was able to get some bed rest at home for a couple days. We had a small Birthday Party play day for Brandon on Sunday with a few of his friends over.

We survived, but the LC regimen took a few blows. Somehow I managed to stay around 212#, and I started back on the Relaxed LC plan soon thereafter...until Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving, I gave myself 2 days off to enjoy the Holiday. Then, back to Relaxed LC.

Today, I'm still on crutches but can walk for short distances (don't tell my doctor)...and like I said, it's my first day back to work. This is also my first day of a MORE RESTRICTED food plan. I'm striving to reach 202# by cutting back to about 50 g of carbs per day plus adding in some seated exercises.

We're making Wendy's Chile here at work, and once I eat that...I'm starting. (You don't expect me to pass up Wendy's Chili, do you? Good source of fiber!).

So I'll be checking back more frequently, logging my progress. I'd like to see 202# by Christmas. HOLD MY GOOD FOOT TO THE FIRE!

GOAL: Heading Down Below 202 Lbs. By Christmas!

Mort

dMort, the old saying "When it rains, it pours"......well, you got a torrential storm! Big hugs to your mom-in-law for coming to the rescue. Hope you and your family are recovering nicely. Take care.
