| I loved your journal entry! Being a housewife it's nice to hear how much you appreciate your wife. It sure helped her case of how great she is to your family with you being on medicine and foot problem too poor guy! I sure hope your foot feels better and 202# comes soon. Go Mort! |

| Thanks, everyone. Today I did mediocre with the eating, but I focused on ramping up the water intake. Water intake is one item I have to kinda force myself to do all throughout the day. Recovering at home I mostly drank splenda Coke, so I'm really making sure I get the water through me. The scale lied to me this morning, claiming that I weigh 212 lbs., so I may have a little more to lose than I thought to reach 202# by Christmas...but I think I can do it! The Christmas Tree magically appeared while I was sleeping today. It's all decorated up and there are already a bunch of wrapped presents underneath. Luckily my wife does all the holiday shopping and decorating. After 21 years of marriage, she is genuinely surprised each-and-every year at my lackluster Holiday spirit. oops, gotta run. Work to do. | Funny to hear you describe your 'lackluster' spirit about the holidays. As soon as Thanksgiving rolls around, my DH starts grumbling about Christmas...all that fuss and expense. However, after I spend the time to decorate the house, he starts to notice if I forgot certain items...'hey...where's the [insert missing item here]??...you always put out the X!!' So I realize that he's into the spirit more than he likes to admit. Hope everyone at your house is feeling better soon! |

| Today was the best food day I've had in a couple weeks: Eggs, bacon, cheese, veggies, and a small bag of peanuts...and plenty of water. This should jump-start me toward my goal of 202 Lbs. By Christmas! Ooh, Ooh...I'm going to stop right now and get me some more water to continue the flush. Mort

| Exactly! So...another good day of eggs, steak, sausage and water. Unfortunately, I also drank a good bit of milk - so I'm interested to see how that might impact me, since it has a good bit of sugar. Whatever, it was worth it. My weight today was 209#, and I have a week off before I return to work. I expect to see some progress upon my return toward "202 by Christmas". It's really a big help to write these things down here in the journal. I can look back, check my progress, and get input from others as well. This has been a good thing. Mort

...congrats on the resolve. I'm sure that you'll be at 202 in no time.Have you tried the Carb Countdown milk?? I've never tried it myself, but I know that others here give it a thumbs up. |

| I like the milk, too, but now it's Calorie Countdown milk. I like the chocolate, too, but I prefer it mixed half-n-half with the regular milk, otherwise it's too thick for me. Actually, I think some men can handle the regular milk and still lose. It's not fair!

| I've not tried the Calorie Countdown milk...thanks for the tip, I will look for it. You all are awesome! Luckily, the milkfest was tolerated without a blip. Today I flip myself back to dayshift (from nightshift) for my days off. I had a good food day except for snacking a couple of those vanilla creme cookies at my son's Cub Scout pack meeting. Need to get more water in me! Good nite, me. I hope you get some sleep so you can interact with the family. Mort

UPDATE: I ain't gonna make it. My goal of 202 lbs. by Christmas has been shattered by a "week of weak". I simply struggled to eat LC: Busy schedule during days off, a child with the flu, a difficult transition back to dayshift after working nites...all contributed to a lack of progress this week. My weight stayed about the same, ~ 209 lbs. Not enough water, too many late nite beers and rum-and-cokes. Too many carbs while eating on the run (sandwiches, crackers, nuts). No exercise, still in a walking cast due to foot surgery. Well, enough of that wallowing! Looking forward, I will return to my original sub-goal of 205 Lbs. without a time stamp on it. Maybe I can just hold steady for the holidays, which is a nice feat, and then position myself for a nice sub-goal achievement sometime in January. As my foot heals, I can get around more easily to cook good food, and be able to stop by the store as needed to pick up staples...like eggs, meat and salad. Mort (aka, Me)

| Mort, in your circumstances, it sounds like you are doing good! I'm not sure I could maintain my weight, let alone lose, if I had to go through all you have been through. Hang in there, you'll get back into a routine and get to your goals. Mini goals are the way to go. It's a lot easier to get to a mini goal, you feel so great when you hit it, and then you're up for the next mini goal. Wishing you success.
