| I was running around today and didn't stop for lunch. I had a handful of pork rinds and a bottle of water in the car for a snack to hold me over. I had the hambone from thanksgiving dinner in the freezer and I had stuck it in the crockpot last night along with some water and turned it on to cook the meat off the bone. This afternoon i shredded the meat and strained the broth into a soup pot. I added a bunch of LC veggies and a can of black soybeans to make a vegetable soup that is 3gms net carbs per serving and QUITE tasty! I had 2 servings and a slice of cheese. I plan on a snack later this evening but so far today I'm at less than 1,000 calories and 13gms of carbs....not too shabby. I am trying to get alot of stuff cooked and frozen this week while I'm off work. Maxi mentioned "Planning to fail by failing to plan" and she is soooo right. I'm trying to be more organized and have things readily available so that I don't end up backed into a corner and hungry!

| That soup sounds good! I love the idea of planning, It helps so much when you are tired or overwhelmed to always have good and YUMMY choices on hand. I need to take care of that this weekend, I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants with eating this week, but doing okay. I'll feel so much better when I'm all stocked! Have a great day!

| Vickie - you did better than i did yesterday. was out and about at lunchtime and hadn't eaten since 6:30 breakfast. so at 2 I caved in with some low carb ice cream and sugar free cookies at my sister's house. Not a good choice for me right now. 20 carbs at lunch is way too much when you're aiming for under 40. Hope you have a great day!

| Soup made from a ham bone - with soybeans - sounds luscious! I can really overdo it with soup, too, and eat way too much. But, it's so good for you!

| Hey Amy...the soup is really good. I bagged the leftovers into sanwich size ziplock baggies and layed them flat in a cakepan in the freezer to freeze...that way they freeze in a flat shape that's easier for me to fit in the freezer. Of course I kept some in the fridge for later today! Flying by the seat of my pants is what got me into trouble for the holidays. I was so busy that I stopped planning my food and just started eating whatever was available. One day I even had See's candy for lunch because it was available and I didn't have time to go out and get something. That day was the day that I completely lost control...so I realy have to plan better now that I am getting back on track. Hi Rob...yep...that's whe I get into trouble as well. When I go too long without something to eat and then I find myself hungry and faced with having to try and make good choices amidst temptations and with my hunger driving me. I am really trying hard to avoid those situations right now...especially until I get myself to the point that I feel really back in control again. Have a great day my friend. Nita...this soup would be ok even if you overdid it as it is so low in calories as well as carbs. I love soup when it's cold outside. Thanks for stopping in. OK...breakfast was another serving of breakfast casserole with a little cheese melted on top and a flaxmeal "donut muffin" that found here http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/bre...nutmuffins.htm I didn't dip them in melted butter as the recipe called for and I found that their carb count listed on the recipe was a bit low...I came up with 2 carbs each...but I was very pleased with how they came out. Also...the recipe really did yield 12 muffins as stated. I find that alot of the LC recipes don't seem to make as many servings as they say they do...but this one really did. the leftovers are bagged up and in the freezer. I could be tempted to overdo with these so it's best if they are out of sight.

| Hey Vickie! thanks for stopping by my journal. I'm doing much better this evening. The blues have packed their bags and moved on! Good riddance! Couple things... 1. that soup sounds great! I made some Beef and Cabbage from the recipe section, and it was DElish!! 2. I had to read your whole journal to see why Barry White was referenced! and I'm digging for my cd as soon as I finish this. LOVE BARRY! 3. Enjoy Curves! I miss it!!! hugs~

| Hi heather...thanks for stopping in...did you find your Barry White CD? OK...it's Friday and I am going back to work today. I don't know if I'll work the whole day but I am at least going to work for a few hours. My boss and I came up with this plan as a way to ease back in to work after our vacation...work Friday...have the weekend off and then REALLY start back. OK...gotta run...I am off to curves. have a lovely day everyone

| Hi Lisa...I love Curves. It can be hard to stay focused on your workout with all the conversation that goes on but it's fun. From what I've been told by the lady who owns our Curves, they are going to be getting some more computer monitoring equipment for the machines in the spring. They will have lights at each station that will show you if you are working out at the right level for the best results...I am looking forward to those being installed as I think it will push me to work harder. They are also doing a weightloss contest in conjunction with a local news station here in San Diego. I am seriously thinking about doing it. I have to check next week and see if she will let me join the group that will be meeting on Monday nights. The Monday group is technically full and Saturday isn't a good day for me because I keep Autumn on saturday...so we'll see. Being part of the challenge would give me some extra motivation and the curves diet is something I've thought of doing for a while now. It's more of a carb controlled diet rather than low carb but it might be just the thing for me. Boy! That's a LONG answer for a simple question of "how do you like curves?"...LOL OK...so...I know I have portion control issues with almonds so why do I keep bringing them into the house!? This time I wanted to make the muffins I mentioned a few days ago in my journal....which were REALLY quite GOOD, by the way! I gave one to my boss yesterday and he couldn't believe how good it was!....anyway, almond meal was one of the ingredients and I didn't want to go all the way to Trader Joe's to get the meal so I got whole almonds and ground up what i needed for the muffins......and now that I am typing through this I am realizing that the thing to do is to GRIND THE REST OF THEM INTO MEAL DUMMY!!!! See...that's why journaling is so great....it helps you to find solutions to these problems!....so as you probably know by now...I ate far too many almonds last night. Other than that I did ok. Won't be a problem tonight because those almonds are going to be almond meal by then. Have a great saturday everyone. I am going to get Miss Autumn.

I'm glad that Curves was there, however, to start my weight loss at the beginning of last year. I think I'll join something else, when I move in a few weeks time. | Hi Lisa...you're welcome...I love curves. You are truly blessed to have 4 grandchildren! I just have Autumn for now and while I'm sure I will love having more grandbabies, right now Autumn is enough to keep me very happy in grandmaland! I love that Summer calls the star shape "twinkle" that is just too cute. My mom has a sister, Judy, who she calls "Bug"...it's one of those family nicknames my mom has called her since she was a child but my mom is the only one who is allowed to call her that...anyway, the other day I was going down the list of "Daddy's a man, Mommy's a woman, Grandpa's a man, etc...when i got to Aunt judy i expected Autumn to say Aunt Judy is a woman but she pops out with, "Judy's a BUG!" I just love this age....they get cuter by the minute! Hi Heather...i don't by any means expect to win the competition as it is 30 curves locations large but the prizes are...a 1500.00 shopping spree, a deluxe spa package, a year of unlimited movie admission for you and a friend, and a teeth whitening package. It would be cool to win a prize but I really doubt that out of all the people who will participate that I will be the one to win....it's nice to dream though Hi Ophelia...yes, so far the new year is going well...i hope yours is as well. I can imagine with your busy schedule it would be very difficult to find time for something like Curves. i think t's great that you make the time to follow a healthy eating plan. I found even that difficult to maintain when my life got crazy busy for the holidays! I admire your determination very much. Hi Rhonda...how nice to see you here. Do try the recipe...it is reall very, very good! OK...Sunday evening...I've had a great, on plan day. I have some chicken in the oven for lunches this week and a load of laundry in the machine. I seem to have caught a nasty head cold...not very happy about that. I hope it goes away quickly. Goota go put my clothes in the dryer....
