Morning Vickie! I sent you a PM. Have a great Sunday!
Morning Vickie! I sent you a PM. Have a great Sunday!
Nita...I know just what you mean. My mom and my sister seem to be on a mission to teach Autumn to like sugary, crappy foods. When she's with me she eats lots of boiled eggs, roasted chicken breasts, fruits, etc. She loves boiled eggs! She also loves it if I open a can of green beans and let her split each bean and eat the "seeds" out of them...then she goes back and eats the rest of the bean. I am the cuddly, "Granma do you want to play with me?" type of Grandma. My goodness...I LOVE BEING AUTUMN'S GRANDMA!!!!Have a great Sunday my friend.
Hey Bert....I hope you enjoyed your day with your granbaby! Isn't it just such fun!? They grow up way too fast!
Hi Rhonda...I'm drinking my coffee right now as I type this...I love having my coffee with you. I answered your PM.
So...yesterday was a trainwreck foodwise....Oh well....today is a new day.

Vickie, Sophie called me on the phone (of course, with Papa's help), told me all about going to bed for her nap. I didn't understand half of what she said, but we had a nice conversation, anyway. I just love being Sophie's grandma! And Jade's & Bubba's too, of course. They just aren't quite as cuddly as their cousin!
Hope your week is marvelous.

Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, but never jam today!
Nita...Don't you just love phone calls from the grandbabies?! It's funny, I can understand every word Autumn says in person but it's a little bit harder when she's on the phone. Can you believe how fast these kids are growing up!?
OK...so I am eating on plan, going to curves regularly...my walking could stand some improvement though. Most mornings I still walk to work but I find myself saying yes to Vern's offers to pick me up more and more. I'm waiting for 24 hour fitness to run some sort of a special and then I think I'm going to cancel curves and go back to 24 hour. I want to be able to use the treadmill and the eliptical trainers and now that I know which machines to use I could come up with my own circuit type workout. I'm sure they'll run some kind of special for the holiday season.

I want a 24 hour fitness to come here so bad Vickie. One reason I had to stop going to the gym was because I babysit as early as 5am when the gym closes. By the time I can go to the gym in the afternoon it's so crowded with 9-5 workers. I get nervous around large groups of people. I love my home gym but plan on getting back to the gym for a change of pace in a few years. And that is my story and I'm sticking to it - lol.
Vickie - Kids at that age are cuddlier and cuter than puppies and kittens! my great niece will be 3 next week and is jst such a delight to listen to and watch. have a good day!

Viclie - I will and have been. I cannot believe what I'm seeing on the news. I'll pray for the wind to die down also. That's really spreading it fast. Have a good day!

Whew! What a crazy 24 hour period it's been! The fires are still burning out of control here and spreading into areas that I never thought would be affected. Thankfully, my family is all safe right now. My oldest son and his wife (and Autumn) are at my parents' house. They will be able to go home today. The fire that was near them was knocked down yesterday but they wanted to stay overnight just to be safe. My two younger sons have an apartment together in Mira Mesa, right on the edge of Scripps Ranch, which is still evacuated. They went home last night. I wish they would have stayed but they are young and immortal still. Chances are they will be fine but i would have rather they took the side of caution. They live very close to Miramar air station....my feeling is that if the navy saw fit to move all the aircraft to a safer location (which they did) then maybe my boys should see fit to move themselves as well...LOL.
My parents live in Casa de Oro very close to Mt Miguel. The fire has been burning down their side of the mountain since last night. They almost evacuated last night but the fire seems to be moving west and it would need to move north to get to them. However, they can stand in their front yard and watch it burn. It is burning very close to the high school I attended...and I walked to school...so that gives you an idea of how close it is to their home.
So far we are still ok here in Santee...but the fires are burning all around us. It's such a helpless feeling. There have been over 500 homes burned so far and the fires are nowhere near being contained. They have turned Qualcom stadium and the Del Mar Fairgrounds into evacuation centers along with several other sites around the county. There are over 300,000 people who have had to leave their homes and evacuate to safer locations.
I continue to pray for those affected by all of this...

Vickie, thanks for the update on the situation out there, been wondering how your family are doing. We use to go out to visit our ds and dil who attended Biola seminary and saw some of these fires but nothing like this. It is so scary. Hope your family continues to stay safe.
Carrole
Thanks Vickie for taking the time to keep us posted. I am Happy to hear you and your family are safe. I Know it is such a helpless feeling. Keep your faith amd all will be well. Still sending prayers your way.

Vickie - it seems to be spreading so rapidly that I wonder whetehr you are still in the safe zone. You're smart enough to evacuate when they say it's time, I'm sure. Hopefully it won't hit the city of San Diego. BE safe!

Carrole, thanks for visiting my journal, and for your kind thoughts toward me and my family.
Lisa, thank you for your prayers. I appreciate it so much.
Rob...you make a good point. As things stand today we are safe. The fire is still uncomfortably close to my parents house if the wind direction changes, and here in Santee where I live and work we are surrounded by fires, but they aren't burning toward us. When the winds shift and begin to blow in from the coast as is expected to happen this afternoon, the fires could blow back towards us. So the situation here is still volitile but it looks like things are ok right now. Thankfully the air support is here and dropping water and fire retardant now.
Thank you all for your prayers. So many people have lost their homes and over half a million people have been evacuated from their homes. They are beginning to let some people return to their neighborhoods today.
