Well 2006 turned out to be a negtive year in my weight loss efforts. If you could call it that. Turns out I was not trying to loose weight most of the time. Just tossing anything I wanted down my mouth has really set me back. I got on the scale at work last night and I'm over 350 lbs again. Not sure how much I weight because the scale doesn't go higher. I don't think I'm at the weight I was before I started low carbing back in 2004 but I'm far from my 2005 low of 315. But my long term goal to reach is arround 200lbs so I never even came close to that yet.

On the postive side. It ain't over till it's over. So I'm back at it again. Yesterday was my first really good day I was on plan in about 6 months. The only carbs I ate was from a wendy's chicken BLT salad. I get the ranch dressing with that and tossed out the croutons. Also I started to walk again. 20 minutes. Not much I know but this month I want to establish the habbit again without too much pain.

Today I had 3 eggs with ham and cheese of Breakfast. I'm heading out to walk now.

I'm really disappionted in myself for letting it go so far. I clearly can't eat anything I want. I have a craving for sweet foods often and rarely go out of my way to find low or no carb sweets. So it's best to avoid them. I'm still drinking diet soda and have never switched back to the normal crap. but I want to get off that too because I feel it makes me put on weight too. Yesterday I had one can and once the case is gone from my fridge I don't want any more. It might be harder for me to break the habbit of these Nestle Pure Life flavored water. I like those too.

gotta go. Need to stay focused on the goal.

Ed, it sure is hard sometimes to bite the bullet and get back into low carb! But hey, bullets are low carb, aren't they? Not too tasty, though!

Make sure you come back here often, for the support and encouragement you need for this trek. It's helped me a lot. I haven't lost much, but I've maintained an average, and haven't gained, all because of the help here that I've received.

I gave up sodas last March, rarely have one now, just once in a blue moon, and I find that I enjoy them so much more when they are the occasional treat. Just plain old water, and tea & coffee.

Nice to see you in a new journal, back focused on your goal.

Heya Ed - DS has just made a similar decision about his softdrinks - and has switched back to iced tea.

One thing I've found help me get off diet soda (never liked the reg. soda) is iced tea with splenda and crystal light....

I also walk everyday about 3 miles, and i find that now that i don't drink soda i feel more confidant when i'm walking and i'm able to walk faster and longer....

Ed!!!!!!!!!!!!! so nice to see you back. I firmly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a l/c board.... such as this one, to help you get to your goal and maintain it. It is a long road, but one worthy of traveling. On a personal note..... have you won the lottery yet????????? So glad to have you back. Take one moment, one second, etc., etc. You can do it!

Thanks everyone for the nice words and encouragement.

Still doing good, just finished the walk and was good yesterday with my eating. only one can of diet soda. Here's a coincidence. I'm reading the news today and guess what they think makes you gain weight. Diet Sodas!!! Here's the link

Seems that they are really confused as to why this is happening. They say,
"What we saw was that the more diet sodas a person drinks, the more weight they were likely to gain,"
How can that be if there are no calories in diet soda?
And then of course they go back to the simplistic reasoning of a calorie is a calorie and blame it on the person eating too much.
"You know, much the same as when we went through the fat free craze, people overate ? not because there was anything wrong with the products, but they overate," says Rogers, the nutritionist. "So we're wondering are we seeing a similar phenomenon with the diet soda."
We all know that is BS because it's not the fat that make you fat. It's the sugars they add to the fat free foods that packs on the pounds.
I don't think they will ever change their thinking on this and it does nothing be keep the obesity rates rising.

Yesterday was weird. The third day really on plan and it was like my body was dumping all the stored up water. I must of ran the mens room at work about 10 times. All day and twice when I got home before bed.

Got my soda habit down to one a day. Not bad. and having no flu like feeling like the first time I went on induction.

Ed, doing low carb has always acted as a diuretic for me when I got back to it from being off for a while. And, it also would work as a laxative, too. You'd think that cutting back on carbs, which is also cutting back on fiber, would do the opposite, but I think it was my body purging all the junk in my system. It's inconvenient, but it's also nice to get all those carb toxins out of our system, too.

It sure is good to see you back. We've had an influx of returnees, and it's nice having them back home.

It's nice to be back Nita, thanks. I do a lot more reading here then I do writing. I'm not really into writing. Dyslexia runs in the family and I have a hard time getting my thoughts in order to get them down in type. If it was not for spell checking software I would not type much at all. The dictionary app is open at all times on my Mac.

Back to the diet. I been having a salad each night for dinner so I'm not having any problems in the fiber department. I don't get bound up with this WOE. For me sometimes it's diarrhea that hits me for days. Maybe because of all the water I drink. not sure.

Just got done with the walk and I did not want to go outside because of the rain but it was warm and nice with just a light drizzle. Nothing to melt me.

Thanks Ronda,

well I've been doing good all week and even managed to stay clear of the brownies at work Friday night. Every other week there is a dinner buffet at work. Mr Forbes's personal chef puts together something for the staff. He makes the best brownies ever. Somehow he manages to get big chucks of chocolate solid in them. Hard to pass up. but I did well. Another thing he does is he keeps most things separate. So the meat is in one dish and a starch in another. Makes it easy to avoid the starch. He makes a really good Ceasar salad too and keeps the bread on the side. If your on a low fat or vegan diet your out of luck with this guy.

did my walking again yesterday. the weather here in Easton was perfect. Nice enough to walk in t-shirt and shorts. Really odd for January but enjoyable none the less.

gonna do some more walking now.

have a good day everyone.

Got out and walked again. Okay so it was at Sam's and WM but it was enough to have my lower back in pain. This year I'm trying to save some money too. I eat breakfast everyday at my house. Mostly eggs and cheese around noon. But when I get into work I have lunch as soon as I get into NYC at 6pm. Then I have dinner around 11pm. Eating two meals in the city can cost from 10 to 20 dollors a day. And I'm just talking fast food here. So today I went and got some lunch meat and low carb wraps. Along with some salad greens and big bag of pre-cooked chunked chicken to add to the salad. Also got a case of bottled water. It worked out good. But I still walked to Wendy's with my coworker and got a chilly for a dollor. The other goal I have is not to eat when I get home at 4am. The little snacks turn into a meal. I'm really trying to just get home and go to bed and break the habbit of staying on the internet till 6 or 7am.

so the goal this year.
Loose weight.
Save money.
Work on my love life.

The love life is one of the reasons I lost control my LC WOE last January. Maybe I'll talk about that later.
