Tom, I'm sorry about your Mom. Be thankful for the time you've had with her. I lost my mom just a few weeks before I turned 15. Sometimes I still miss her, and feel sad that she never knew her grandchildren. You have a nice visit, make the most of it, give her all the love you have. She sounds like an incredibly strong woman who has passed that trait on to her son.

Have a safe trip. Bundle up.

Thanks Nita!

I'm safely in Hartford. Been working on mom's computer for most of the afternoon. No Hotspot for my laptop, so I'm posting from hers.
I have a dinner planned with my cousin for tomorrow evening. Mom has talked me into driving her up to Albany NY for a friends Funeral. Just what a desert boy wants to do. Go up into the snow for a funeral. The things we do for MOM.
We have an appointment with her cancer Doc on Friday. I will be able to get more details of her status then. Subdued eating since last night. I did have breakfast when I got in. Maybe we will get out for a good dinner in a bit.

Have a wonderful week!

Thanks for stopping by Carrole.
Never had dinner with my Cousin. She had some suff come up. I have an appointment with mothers Cancer doctor tomorrow morning. Then in the afternoon meeting with what family is here to discuss memorial arrangements etc. I took Mom with me and did her pre-arrangement paperwork. The Cremation people will keep the file. Just a phone call away from action. I'll be flying in at that time.
This is a strange situation...
My one Aunt is a little miffed that I didn't drive up to NY to visit her today. Trying to get these people to understand that I'm here for my mother NOT them. I'm not sure if they are really accepting the gravity of the situation at all.
Yesterday we got up into her attic. OMG, there is a lot of stuff up there. Now I understand where I got the pack-rat gene. I already have this huge pile of stuff that I will be shipping back to Vegas for Cyndi. Dunno how much I will ship now and how much to let the kids work with when they come to visit.

I've been staying LC for the most part. I have been eating rye toast with my breakfast. I just had my 1st LC bagel at Dunkin Donuts. That was different.

We stopped at a Thrift store today. I found 2 rain coats for $15. Those things aren't even in the Vegas area. With all the cold rain up here, I need them. :great:

Have a wonderful day!

Tom, I can imagine you getting accustomed to the change in weather, quite a change from Las Vegas to New England. Probably some culture shock, too.

Take care. Have a good visit with your mom.

Good morning from the chilli Northeast. We are expected to hit a whopping 52 degs today. The sun is peeking thru. I haven't had much time to check up on others journals. Sorry.

In about an hour we meet with mother's Cancer Doc. Then this afternoon it is family meeting time to make further arrangements. Last night I spent most of my time doting over Mom. This takes quite a bit out of a person. I have a new respect for Nurses.
I did mostly snacking for food yesterday. I think I ate 1 piece of bread. The rest was all LC.
Time to get rolling...
Have wonderful Day!

Tom, did you get caught in that big storm that hit the Northeast? 2 others on the forum were hit hard, but are ok.

You and your mom be extra careful.

Hi Nita!
Hartford didn't get hit bad at all. It did rain cats and dogs. I got home at 1am on Tuesday. Been getting myself aclimated to being home again. We have been planning and talking and planning and talking about the kids going back to visit and other logistics.

I finally heard back from the doctor about my lab tests... Elivated Cholesterol. Hmmm. They wouldn't tell me the LDL & HDL numbers. I have an appointment on Thursday. Maybe this is what I need to hid me back into LC without cheating. My Cholesterol numbers were great 2 years ago. Then I started addind in all those bad things I like so much. Now elivated again. Grrr.
I have been good since yesterday afternoon. Dinner was only steak and green beans. Breakfast today was Flaxmeal & protein powder hot cereal. :great:
The company is hosting a BBQ today to recognize the employees. I'll be very good. NO nuttin' except meat and salad. I've also reduced my coffee intake and adding more water. While back with mother I wasn't eating very good.

Had ti fix the car this morning when I got to work, overheated. Darn heater hose split. Pliers and a knife and all done.

Everybody have a wonderful weekend!!!

Thanks for stopping by Rhonda. Yeah I understand. My plate has been pretty full lately too.

I worked on bikes all weekend. Good that I got them done. Bad that I was outside in all the wind and rain at times. Now I have a cold or something.

TJ was up half the night coughing too. He doesn't have insurance anymore. Unless Liz can nurse him thru, a trip to indigent care at the local hospital may be in his future.

Cyndi made roast Lamb for us yesterday. It was great . :great: Got to hear all the cooking horror stories too. She was roasting it in a glass dish and then poured in cold wine to the juices. Well you can imagine... Hot Glass- Cold wine = big mess in the kitchen when the dish exploded.
They were still cleaning up when we got there.
Saturday morning made a quick dash to the swap meet to get bungee cords for the canopies. They dryout and I replace them every few months. While there I noticed the BBQ place had Turkey Drumsticks. Mmmm. I brought home 3 of 'em. TJ and I each had 1 for Saturday dinner and I have the other for todays lunch.

I had protein/flax hot cereal for BF yesterday. Good for a quickie. And if I M/W it for an extra minute it becomes a chocolate muffin.

Talked with Mother over the weekend. She is doing well and my cousin has been over there helping eliminate stuff.
She just got the state to provide her an Electric Wheel chair. We've decided that when the time comes, instead of donating it to the local people, we will ship it home for Liz to use in the future. Mother has quite a bit of stuff that will be useful when Liz's time comes to need it. Not that far off either.

I have been eating all LC since last week. I won't say strict Induction. I've had some handfulls of hot peppered peanuts a couple times. But at least I haven't been doing the tortilla or the toast. :great:

Everybody have a DRY and wonderful week!

Glad you got home safe & sound, Tom, and that you had a good visit with your mom.

Don't know about the dry week. We're cloudy today with a chance of thunderboomers. That's ok, we need rain all the time anyway. I'll work hard on having a wonderful week, too. You have a good one, also.

This cols SUX. I really want it to go away by the weekend. TJ and I have a 2 day trailride up north. So much for getting to the gym to get limbered up prior.

Other than the cold I feel ggod. I've been full on LC since last Thursday. I see the doc on This Thursday. I hope to strike a deal with him. Give me 90 days of being back to LC and retest. Then if my numbers are still up there then I'll listen to his "other" directions. These numbers and my weight have risen since I started to cheat on my LC discipline. Way too many carbs and mostly BAD ones too.

Liz is going to our Granddaughters recital today. Then helping TJ get the new bike registered.
Last night we did Costco... $400 later we sat and ate. We get Liz a couple churros (bad for a diabetic, but what can I say) and then a soda we split. I also ask for a couple plates. We eat some of the chicken we bought. Great very LC. :great:
I bought some of these energy drinks called zipfizz. Smaller than the Monsters I was drinking. Gonna see how they are poured into a bottle of water. Would make drinking 4 glasses of water more interesting.

Breakfast today, my last turkey drumstick.
Now to get some work done.

Hi Tom, hope your cold is much better this weekend.

I understand about seeing your doctor, I see mine on May 3rd and dread it. I was suppose to see mine last August just to check numbers and put it off until now. He won't renew my prescriptions so forces me to go. I don't know why I hate to go so badly. I had cancer surgery a few years ago and that was a very stressful time and want to just be healthy and stay out of the doctor's office. ha

It seems if we get off low carb the pounds just come bouncing back so quickly, at least they did in my case. Guess I'm on this lowcarb road for life.

Have a great week!

Poor Tom. Don't forget your vitamin C to help with your immune system, and if you are a tea drinker, drink lots of it, for the antioxidants.

We've been buying the individual drinks mixes that come in a little tube, keep them in a drawer so we can just grab one. They are supposed to be for a 16 oz bottle of water, but I put one into a 20 oz mug and it's still too strong. I think I could put one in a quart of water, and it would be about right. Since doing low carb, sweetened drinks, even artificially sweetened, seem too cloyingly sweet.

Get better for that trail ride. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Tom, just thought I would stop by and say hi. Always enjoy reading your journal. I hope the trail ride was a good time. Sure sounds like fun. Always thought it would be fun to have a cycle with a side car. My DH could drive the cycle and take me along like the Two Fat Ladies that use to be on the food network.
