Default Making a Difference in 2008

Making a Difference in 2008, my intention for the new year. In many areas and doing it a lot of different ways.

I feel the winds of change beginning to stir.

This is my new home for the next 365 days. Come in and make yourself at home with me.

Hey Sista, imagine you being the first visitor in my '08 journal. I'm really on the lookout for some improved health in the coming year. I'm thankful for your friendship, as well. One of these days we will meet face to face. Maybe sooner than later.

Speaking of closing out '07 with carbs, I think we did that tonight. Our favorite lil'
mom-n-pop Chinese restaurant is closing tonight after 24 years. All of us had dinner
there one last time. They gave the boys some souvenirs. Given enough span, time will eventually change every facet of life.

I need to post some pictures in my new journal, maybe I can do that tomorrow.

HAPPY 2008 DEAR FRIENDS

Gregg, Heather, Rob, Rhonda and Vickie~ welcome and thanks for the good wishes.

Hoping everybody had a fun, safe New Year's Eve celebration. I can't believe we stayed up until almost 5:00AM. I know what you guys are thinking, but it's not because we were smashed, although we did have a few celebratory drinks. We just kept talking, played a couple long games of Sorry, other family stopped in after their ballroom dancing celebration. We had a total blast! Just getting up and straightening up things, having coffee.

DH's brother stayed the night, Uncle D. sleeping over on NYE is a tradition. He's a favorite uncle. I had plans to fix a nice New Year's Day breakfast, obviously this will be brunch.

TOMORROW is day #1 for us. All the junk goes out today. Whole food, clean eating.

I'll cruise through later, off to feed this gang.

Happy New Year, sistaSue!!!

Wowzers on staying up til 0500!!! I can NOT even remember the last time I stayed up that late....hmmm...prolly in our cowboy dancin' days...we'd Texas 2-step and cotton eye Joe nearly all night! (shhh...back in the early 80's, I'm guessing!). Yeah...
I'm an oldie, but a goodie...at least that's what I like to think! hehe!

Hey susie...your NYE celebration sounds wonderful! There's nothing that compares to good times with family.

I am starting day one tomorrow as well.

Sistashell, I'll bet you still have some pictures around the house from those days. I would love to see 'em, I know you guys must have had an absolute ball back then. How I remember the Mickey Gilley days and Urban Cowboy rage. Gosh, could it really have been THAT long ago??? I saw Kassie's new snapshot, she is soooo cute. I know she is a total snuggle-bunny-kitty.

Vickie, we had a blast! We played Sorry. We even lost power for a little over 1.5 hours due to a cold from coming in and high winds. We continued to play by the light of an oil lantern. Very cozy! We also played Pictionary. This was just one of those special times that you won't forget. The brunch was a total southern deal complete with...hide your eyes...fried potatoes.

I won't list all the other naughty foods, but you can imagine what is good at a winter brunch.

Tomorrow I will begin the descent back to low/er carbs. I would love to end the day with a lovely induction carb level of 20, I'm not sure if that will happen. I may be better off to gradually ease myself back to into a lower carb level each day since we've had so many Christmas treats around.

I'm signing off, heading to bed. Be back tomorrow.

Lisa and Nita, nice to have your company! New Year's was absolutely great this year, Nita. We've been talking about it all day.

I made some progress today with cutting carbs, but there were still too many. Mostly because DS1 asked me to make Hoppin' John soup since I didn't yesterday. It's always a New Year's Day tradition and he didn't want to trade the brunch yesterday for the soup. He wanted it even if it was a day late. Onward to tomorrow!

Got most of my Christmas decorations down, keep in mind I decorate quite a lot. Still have a few things to go that I will finish up tomorrow evening when I get home from work.

Work Thursday and Friday. Very cold here at the moment and I'm sure it will be in the low single digits in the morning when I leave for work.

Time to hit the hay.
