Another 2.6 miles walked on the treadmill last night. I think I'm finally seeing some definition in my body. I can feel my abs when I lay down at night (something I've never felt before lol)

Our weather today is nuts! Started out dry but cool. There has been one storm system after nothing come through....all pouring rain. Dh was supposed to go to town to play ball and I would get a night to myself to watch survivor, grey's anatomy and ER. Now, I'll probably spend the night explaining to him what happened previously in each show. Darn. Maybe I can send him to play darts or something?

Weight down .5 this morning. I'll take it.

Dd seems to be doing okay at her job. At least she isn't making up excuses not to go to work. Hopefully this was the "slip" that she needed to make her realize that she's responsible for her own bills. Don't need any more slips for sure.

Glad to hear dd is doing better. We'll continue to hope for the best for her.

Wonderful weekend. Got the grass cut, both vehicles washed and mine cleaned inside. The inside cleaning took about 2 hours! Anyone looking for a puppy? I'm sure I took out enough hair to make one for you! Even did a little gardening on Sunday. That was hard cause I'm still battling this cold and every time I bend over my nose starts running. I know...not a pretty picture.

Friday I noticed the lilac bushes were just about to pop. So, I got out the feeder to fill it. While the nectar was cooling I decided to clean the inside of the feeder. When I took off the top...I found my diamond pinky ring stuck in the top. I had lost it last fall but thought it was in the garden. Surprise! I was soooo excited. Now it's back where it belongs.

I can't see where all this treadmill exercise is doing one darned thing. On Saturday night I had a few pork rinds and gained over 2lbs. the next day. I know it's just water gain...but seeing 168.5on the scale was so discouraging. It was done 1 lb. today. I'm into week two of this walking program. I guess there is no use quitting it now...might as well keep up to the end and see what happens.

Off for lunch...see ya all later.

Donna, have you ever considered doing strength training? It's supposed to burn more calories than aerobic training, actually increases your metabolism. And I've read (wish I could remember where) that people who eat low carb and do strength training actually burn more fat, because both give us a metabolic advantage over counting calories and doing aerobics.

I wonder if you are actually building muscle from all your working out, and since muscle is heavier than fat, you are actually losing fat weight. Just a thought.

I hear you about the salt - I eat brisket from either the bbq place, or from WalMart, and one meal makes me gain 5 lbs in water. But, it's so good, it's worth it!

Donna - Stick with it and sooner or later the scales will drop! More muscle also means more space to store water.
I hear you on the dog hair in the car. LAst time i went to my mechanic I told him DO NOT remove the dog hair, it's all that's holding the transmission together. LOL HAve a great day!

We had a ballgame in town last night so no exercise...unless shivering counts?

On the way home we stopped at McDonalds. I always have a grilled chicken ranch salad. I couldn't believe it when they said they were discontinued! I ordered a McChicken burger instead and was stupid enough to eat the bun. Hey....at 10 p.m. I was starving! I know...stupid excuse, and the scale told me that this morning.

Rob: HA...so you know what I'm talking about with the dog hair! It's been a long winter and far too cold to go outside and dehair the car. It was pretty bad all right. Now it looks so good I almost hate to put the furkids in it. But, the look on their faces if I left them home would change my mind.

Leftover chicken for dinner. Always a good day when I don't have to cook.

Donna - Happened to me too yesterday. I ate breakfast so late that I wasn't hungry for lunchh. Then I was travelling between the hospital and my dad's condo and shopping so I never got lunch. 3:30 I'm in the supermarket and they have these fantastic bread samples out. I mean there was pecan raisin bread and olive foccaccia and several other types. also a choice of toppimgs from tapenade to butter. I tried one of everything and said hmmm i forget what that on e tastes like and had a second piece. did that twice. LOL After that I really had to buy a loaf. sigh
at least i bought the smallest loaf. I always drape a blanket over the back seat which helps somewhat but when i leave them alone in the car they always hop into the front seat. OH well!
Happy OTH day!

Hey Rob...yup, I have the blanket on the back seat too. And one folded on the front bucket seat. It's the hair that sticks to the seats while they are jumping back and forth that makes the mess. Plus, I drive an Explorer so they are in the back too! Not their fault though!! Fresh bread would just about kill me...I'm not sure if it's the smell or the taste that is worse. Probably a combination of both. I'm okay until I take the first bite then I'm a gonner. Going to Costco is torture for me with all the samples!

Last night was endurance night on the treadmill. 50 minutes, 3.2 mph = 2.6 miles. My knees were pretty sore as was my hip, but I did it. If I don't go to the ballgame tonight it will be a repeat night except I have to up the speed. I'm sure those people are trying to kill me.

Weird weather day yesterday. Started out sunny, but by noon the dark clouds had come over. The rain started and then turned to hail by 1 p.m. Then it started snowing. Didn't accumulate on the ground much, but it was pretty cold. When I left work, it was raining pretty hard and kept up all night. No walk for the furkids. With this cold, I'm not walking in the rain! Everything is just soaked this morning, but the sun is out. There is fresh snow on all the mountains around us...seems weird for just about May!

Nita: By strength training do you mean using weights? If so, I have a problem there cause I have carpal tunnel in both wrists. I've had the surgery on one hand but it's still not really strong. I did hear about a new exercise video that is out...Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's getting really great reviews. Maybe I'll see if I can find it this weekend.

Okay...month end is calling. It's going to be a busy day.

Last night was just about a repeat of the night before. Just not as long on the treadmill:

1.7 miles, 3.4mph, 35 minutes. I really didn't want to do it cause I was tired and had no energy, but I had committed myself to it for a month, so I did it. About half way through I started to feel better. Tonight, is a night off from walking (except the dogs)

Wind has finally died down, for now. Sun is out and it's sort of warm. I'm hoping it's a sign of good things to come. We have a ball tournament in town this weekend and sitting in the cold for 2days is not my idea of fun. 4 hours between games should mean some good shopping time!

This morning was the start of a new month so I took my measurements again. No change from last month *sigh*. Dh says he's sure my butt is getting tighter. Great...just what I needed. Something tight where I can't even see it! Should have been my belly!

Off to work!

I can just see you, back to the mirror, craning around to see your butt! Well, I think all of us ladies have done that, come to think of it. I'm with you, though, I'd rather see the belly gone.

Want some of our heat? It's supposed to hit 92 today, and it'll probably exceed that. It's 91 right now. But by the weekend it'll be back down into the 70s. Typical Texas spring weather.

Supposed to get to 21C (74F) this weekend. I'll believe it when I see it. The car will be packed with clothes for all kinds of weather. That's the bummer part when you live out of town and can't just run home between games to get a change of clothes. Oh well, dh has been on the same team for 32 years so you'd think I'd be used to it by now.

Last night was a relax night on the Prevention Walking Challenge. Right..relax! HA. The dogs needed to be walked, the grass had to be cut, laundry had to be done. Good thing I didn't need to get on the treadmill cause I didn't have a spare minute all night. Tonight I'll be back at it.

Nita: That's hilarious picturing myself trying to see my butt in the mirror. I'll take all the heat you want to send here....love it. I'm sure it won't be long and I'll be complaining about our heat too.

Off to work.

Donna, I just put out my hummingbird feeder after seeing you talk about it the other day....it made me think of you.

And it's it a hoot how much you do on your "night off?" Yeah, night off. Right...Have a good weekend!
