Last night I started a new walking program that I got from Prevention magazine online. It tells you what to do for a month. Obviously whatever I'm doing on the treadmill isn't enough. So, last night I did 1.5 miles at a steady but slower pace than I normally do. It was kind of hard to walk slower when my music is for faster walking. I'm sure tonight I will have to walk longer and maybe faster.

With the gorgeous weather we've had this past weekend I spent just about all day yesterday outside in capris, sleeveless shirt and sandals. First time this year without the support hose so my legs are pretty sore today. They'll get used to it. My legs, knees and hips are protesting all the digging I did yesterday. Boy, did it ever feel good to get outside and get dirty. The grass is starting to green up really good and the forsythia is in full bloom. I love walking around the yard each day and finding the things that are starting to pop up. Just like Christmas! (can you tell I'm a gardener?) lol

Dd seems to be holding her own. Maybe this was a one time binge? Who knows. Could be because she's totally broke she can't drink. I find myself talking very cooly to her...self preservation I think, I don't like being this way. If it was a one time thing....she's having to learn the hard way by losing her job. Obviously, when she worked for us she got away with this kind of thing....welcome to the real world kid!!

Yesterday was day 2 of my walking program. And...I got the night off. What's up with that? How can they get you motivated when they give you a night off the second night? I was kind of disappointed. But, seeing as I had a banging headache I just headed for the tub instead. I've already peeked at tonights workout and I know it's at least 30 minutes long. (after Biggest Loser)

Scales showed down 1 lb today. (of the 2 that I had gained)

Sunday, I cut the grass....today it's snowing like crazy. Stupid weather. It won't stick cause it's not cold enough but we never expect to see snow in April.

Tonight dh has his first ballgame of the season. I'm not going cause I want to see the finale of Biggest Loser (come on Ali!) So, I'll make myself a hamburger bowl and sit in front of the tv to watch it without any interuptions, I hope.

Off to work...

Donna - sounds like things are going well for you tight now! You gotta love gardening seasons! Wish I had more than 2 earthboxes and a half dozen pots to grow things in but Many have no place at all. so I guess i should count my blessings.
Have a good day!

Dd has found another job working in a kitchen. Probably washing dishes...but it will pay the rent. And it could be a good thing that she's not working with the public cause she seems to get stressed out around people.

Day 3 of walking program yesterday. Pretty hard walking as fast as I possibly could without running on the treadmill. A good workout though. It would be nice to see some results, but it's early in the game yet.

Rob: The weather has just gone to heJJ. Predicted high for this weekend is 4C (40F) That's just crazy. All the fruit trees are in bloom and it could ruin the crops. Global warming? BAH!

Ali came through last night and won Biggest Loser. I was in tears when she won. She looks amazing and deserved to win. Some of the people looked like they only gave it a halfhearted attempt but others..I never would have recognized them. It's a hard thing to do....as we all know.

Donna, keep us posted on how the walking program progresses. I'm trying to get back to my Gazelle at least every other day, so today is one of those days. I want to try to get my legs in shape, and get the knees lubricated, hoping it will improve them. Can't hurt, anyway.

Glad dd found a job. At least she's trying. I know a lot who won't do that much, and they don't have the problems she has. Give her a lot of credit for that.

Before you know it warm weather will be here, then we'll be complaining about how hot it is! Yeah, we're never satisfied, are we? LOL!

Dd started her job yesterday and is quite excited about it. She really likes the people she's working for. I'm not getting too excited about it cause she starts every job like this then starts nit picking about people. She's very much like my exhusband.(poor girl) I do have to give her credit for at least looking for work cause it's not easy to find a job in our small town.

Donna - The temperatures here were all over the map the past few weeks. From highs in the 40s to upper 70s. But I think we've turned a corner and highs won't get below mid 60s. Today is supposed to reach 80. so I'm sure you're on the verge of that corner too! Do the hour walk around the ballfield, LOL. TGIF!! Have a good weekend!

We get near freezing temps at night, then near 80 by afternoon. But it's so nice sleeping with the windows open, all snuggled up under the covers. And we have not turned on the ac yet. Hope we can wait until closer to June for that.

Enjoy the weekend, Donna. I'll be sending good weather thoughts your way.

Crazy, crazy weather. The sun is shining and it's snowing like crazy. I'm not worried cause this time of year it doesn't stay on the ground but closeby where the elevation is higher the roads are in really bad shape. It's supposed to stay cold all weekend. My poor tulips!

Rob: It was so cold and windy at the ballfield last night it was all I could do to stay wrapped up in a blanket with my winter coat and gloves on. I'm the scorekeeper so I can't leave the field where we are playing. Walking might have kept me warmer....or I could have been blown to somewhere warmer with the way the wind was blowing. Never seen such crazy weather.

Nita: I'll be looking for that warmer weather for sure. I've got all kinds of plans for my garden this year but can't start anything yet.

We didn't get dinner last night until just about 10p.m. We never eat before the ballgames and dh likes to have a beer with the guys after the game. So, the scale was up this morning even though I only had a salad for dinner. I expected it with eating that late at night. It will probably be gone tomorrow.

Grandkids are coming for dinner tonight. Can't wait to see them. I've already put dh's pills away and put the locks on the basement door and my craft room door. They don't like that, but I'd rather they be safe than see them into my craft knives or playing with pills. Looks like it will be hamburgers for dinner..mine without the bun. Easy cooking after working all day.

I made a mistake and used some sweetner that dh had bought for me to make some english muffins. Had one for breakfast this morning. Wayyyy too sweet. I checked the can and the only ingredient was Malitol! Looks like the rest of the muffins will be going in the garbage with the can of sweetner. No wonder I never used it before. Now I'm just hoping I won't be running to the bathroom all afternoon.

Ohhhh, snow has stopped and I think I see some blue sky. Maybe there is hope for the afternoon after all.

Saturday night I did the 50 minutes on the I was pretty nervous about this one cause I wasn't sure I could make it. I just kept remembering the trainer on biggest loser saying to work through the pain. I wasn't really in pain but my legs were like jello. I did it though 2.5 miles in 50 minutes. I had to keep lowering and adding to the speed or it probably would have been over 3 miles. Not sure what is in store for me tonight, I forgot to read the sheet. Yesterday was no walking, so I just did aerobics.

Dh decided he wanted chinese for dinner last night. I was nervous cause I've worked so hard on this exercise thing. But, I didn't pig out and the scale didn't move this morning. Whew...we have leftovers for tonight but I think he can have them and I'll stick to my woe.

Scale is stuck at 166!

Donna - You're really making progress on your treadmill! They say it's good to change speed up and down over the course of a workout. I hear you on the maltitol mishap. I hope you didn't suffer the malitol curse! I did after eating carbsmart ice cream yesterday.

Rob; All I ended up with was cramps...big cramps. I threw it all away and learned my lesson. We can't get any lc ice cream in Canada. Probably a good thing...I'd live on it.

Another 2.6 miles on the treadmill last night. When I turned the page to see what I was supposed to do it was blank. Didn't print for some reason. So I just made something up. Warmup for 5 minutes then ran for 1 minute, then cut the speed just a little and walked for 10 then repeated the whole thing. Took me 46 minutes. My legs were like jello, but I did it. Still no movement on the tapemeasure. Weight went down to 165 this morning..I'll take it.

I'd love to get back on the treadmill tonight but dh has a ballgame in town. If it stays as cold as it is now, I just might stay home. I checked the flowers on my forsythia and they are turning black...too cold. Weatherman says there will probably be very little fruit this year too. No bees. It's too cold for them too. Stupid weather!

Well, Donna, it's 3 p.m. and 89 degrees here. Wish you could have some of this. I'd give you 10 or 15 degrees! I prefer more moderate temps, but it looks as though we're going to start having the warmer stuff now.

I'm still at only a mile on my Gazelle - finally got back on it after months & months. It takes me about 20 minutes. I want to get up to 1.5 miles in the next week or so. Just have to baby a knee and ankle, can't overdo on them, or I'll be hobbling around like an old(er) lady!

Was it ever cold at the ballgame last night! I think dh needs to find a sport inside where I'm not soooo cold. Bowling would be good! lol

No exercise seeing as we were in town. I'll be back at it tonight.

Just noticed in our local paper that the plant nursery opens this weekend. Darn...it's just too cold to start putting plants outside, but I sure wish I could.

Nita: A mile on the gazelle is great! Careful of the knee and ankle...no hobbling allowed.

Okay...off to work!
