i go in cooking phases, too, mab. so i try to have a mix of easy stuff, regular cookable food, and leftovers on hand. last night was a "tired" night so i opted for frozen meatballs, nuked up in a little spagetti sauce. or when i do cook, i'll make big meals and we'll have it for 3 days. good thing dh is just happy he doesn't have to provide the food!

hope sis's little one pops out soon. i remember when it was time to have my daughter, i couldn't WAIT to get it over with. it was exhausting being so pregnant.

glad to hear you're limiting contact with the evil little dictator machine, too. i know that can be a challenge, but if he ain't helping, then let him be banished for a while!

happy friday!

Mab - I used to watch Grey's antomy but the witers strike and all those reruns on network tv has changed my viewing habits. I think we all get into those spring fever moods where we just want to enjoy. Have a good weekend!

Rob, you have to watch the show to get the nickname Heather gave to you!

Dixie, sista is still waiting with the baby. I get to laugh because it is not me, but been there, done that!

Heather, you are too funny! Love Rob's new name!

Donna, those are two of my favorite shows too! I am lagging behind on ER, but watched the last episode, so I feel kind of caught up.

Well, on Friday I decided, quite out of the blue, to fast. So I drank plenty of fluids on Friday and Saturday and broke my fast today with some chicken on a handful of salad greens.

I had been having a hard time on induction and kept going on and off, so I never got to ketosis. I had read in Gary Taubes (sp) book that Dr. Atkins modified a diet that had included a two day fast and replaced that with two weeks of induction, so I decided to give it a try.

Back in ketosis. Have no real hunger or cravings. So I think it worked. Not planning on doing a lot of fasting, that is why I am on Atkins vs. a low calorie anyway (plus the health benefits). But I thought, why not? And I am glad I did.

Looking back through this year's journal I can see how much I was struggling to get back into the groove of things and start losing weight again. Plus I was gaining with lots of cheats and binges. So I am hopeful that this will help me get and stay on track again!

Going to finish up some chores and spend some time with my little guy! So I will visit with everyone tomorrow. Just wanted to put my post out there while I had a minute!

Heather, it was too funny! I loved it.

Today is good. I came to work with a plan of attack and immediately was derailed. Someone out sick, computer troubles, etc. But I was glad I was so motivated because I am still getting stuff done. But schesh! The best laid plans....

Today I had cottage cheese for breakfast. Some chicken salad I made and some tuna for lunch (couldn't decide so I had a little of both).

Still feeling good from the fast. I AM NOT!@!!! stepping on the scale again until Friday. Don't want the evil thing to get to me if it hasn't moved!

Today is good. I keep getting interupted but I think I have found a way to deal with it! So I am getting lots done!

Last night I made ceasar salad for dinner. DH was not pleased. He has had it before and enjoyed it. But now he is turning his nose up at it. I told him I have to get serious about my eating habits again, so he went out and bought me ice cream at Dairy Queen. I did not eat it. I had some SF jello with whipped cream instead. I think he just likes having an eating partner.

Today was cottage cheese for breaki, and chicken salad for lunch. I made a nice big batch to last me for lunches for the week. It can be pretty bland, but to this batch I added hot sauce, a few chopped pecans, celery and some bacon and it really has made it more appealing! Yummo!

It is dreary and raining here today. Hard to stay peppy during that kind of weather, but I will manage!

I am finding that since I fasted I have a lot more energy and do not need to sleep as much! Loving it!

Mab, is that Dr. A's Fat Fast you're referring to? Because if it is, it's not an actual fast, but a restrictive regimen where you get most of your calories from fat. It's in DANDR. I've never heard of a regular, no-eating type fast from Dr. Atkins, so I was wondering if I might have not heard of something?

Regardless, I'm glad you're feeling back on track now. Always good to hear.

Dixie, the fast is not from Dr. Atkins. I think when I was reading Good Calories, Bad Calories that Gary Taubes said that Dr. Atkins took an existing diet and modified it to include an induction phase. In the original diet (or study) the patients were made to fast for two days and then go into low carb eating. So what I tried wasn't the fat fast with macodamian nuts and cream cheese but was actually only having fluids (water and some dt. soda) for two days. It put me right into ketosis and interestingly enough everything is working again for me. No cravings, not that hungry and energy level through the roof. I have lost 5 pounds since Friday. I don't think this is something I could do repeatly but it sure jump started me. Plus now when DH has that DQ I think, do I really want to not eat for two days to get back to where I am? and that helps motivate me.

rob! you are too funny! now if you start walking around wearing scrubs....

today is pretty good. some stir ups at work, we had staff evaluations. never fun. but i am keeping positive and making sure that i am pleasant to everyone. trying to stay upbeat as much as i can.

breakfast was....cottage cheese! i am going to buy stock. lunch was my chicken salad. and rob is right, can never go wrong with bacon and hot sauce! tonight salmon and salad.

the weather has improved here. still a little on the cold side but the sun is shining! have to love that. i am hoping for good weather this weekend so i can play in the dirt!

i hope every one is having a fantastic wednesday!

Thanks Dixie and Heather!

Today at work has been hectic. Looking forward to going home later, sitting on the deck with a book and the fresh air. Will try not to start putzing around....
