Goddess - I love kitties too! We live in a town house and used to live on a non-working farm. So hubby thinks it is not fair to have pets that don't have lots of room to roam. I think most pets would just be happy to have a loving home...

Today I am (once again) recommitting myself. Yesterday was a day with no cheats. But I probably had too many low carb goodies. So today I am trying something new...ok, not new, but new for what I have been doing.

I am going to eat more. More simple protein. Sounds easy right? Should be! So today for lunch I am having a cup and a half of chicken salad for lunch. (More than double what I usually have.) And tonight, I am going in for left over ham and deviled eggs. Only having the veggies I have in my chicken salad for the day (celery).

I love my veggies. But I want to try this for a few days to see if I can get rid of my cravings and get back into ketosis.

Have a wonderful day, y'all!

Mab, as long as you don't go too long without veggies. You need the nutrients that veggies provide, especially the dark colored veggies. But for a few days, just to get your cravings in control, it shouldn't hurt you at all.

I love animals, especially cats. My dh doesn't care for cats, he always just tolerated the ones we had. I like dogs, but they take way too much care for us. If I want to be gone for a day, I don't want to have to either leave a dog outside or to find someone to come put it out a few times a day. Perhaps when we are both retired, we'll look into getting a dog.

Have a great Thursday!

Today was a bear at work. Hardly had time to eat while I was working nonetheless write!

I have had a good two days. I feel good. I feel lighter. I feel energized. And I feel like I need to keep off of the scale. I got on it yesterday and it hadn't moved. Don't know why I thought it would in one day. BUT...I am doing this for health and the weight was supposed to be a side benefit. So I think I am going to go wild and only weigh once a month. We'll see. Anyone who knows me knows that I am saying this and that I typically weigh myself twice a day. But I am serious.

I think the scale derails me.

So two good days in a row.

And Nita, I added some salad today after I checked the carb count. A cup and a half of the mix I like is only 4 carbs. So I felt like that would be ok. I just want to be extra cautious and really be strict and see how it goes. Mostly hoping for a reduction in cravings as well as my waistline.

Nita, I also LOVE your new queenie on your signature.

Have a wonderful night all!

I just love hearing how you are finding your own way and what works for you. Sometimes the scale helps, sometimes it doesn't....it can play mind games. Keep up the great work with your health!

I'm glad to hear you added some salad in, Mab. It will make it easier to stay on plan if you are not stricter than you need to be. I understand the desire to "undo" going off-plan for a minute, but I don't think it really helps. and i hate doing penance, anyway.

you've said more than once that the scale gets in your way, so i'm really glad to see you putting it in the closet for the time being...maybe you could consider giving yourself an official "weigh day" and make it one of your goals to stay off it until then? (you could have the family conspire to hide the blasted contraption if necessary. as shelley says, "a lc'ers gotta do what a lc'ers gotta do"...)

then, if you feel yourself getting ansty about not being able to check in with the scale, then let yourself burn it off: by journaling, tracking your menu, meditating, walking, or whatever you find to do that you feel can help you feel good.

basically, i'm thinking maybe if you force yourself away from the need for constant reinforcements--the scale is a fickle lover, after all--then you will have to fall back on "working your plan" for reassurance. taking good care of yourself can become the priority instead of the numbers. i think if you rechannel that energy, you may find it an easier go.

and i'm WAY glad you're feeling better, too, mab. i know you have this in you. you know what throws you off because you know what doesn't feel good, you know? when you're doing this thing right, it feels that way, too. best indicator of everything in life, i think.

Mab - I live in a condo and have 127 pounds of dogs. So I know I have to make the effort to get them out every day for exercise. about half of all dogs and cats taken to shleters are euthanized. That's on average. In underfunded counties like mine the euthanization rate is over 90%. TGIF@!!! have a good weekend!

Thanks for all of the kind words. I haven't had time to get on here and do my thing, work and home have been v. busy.

Goddess, thank you. I know I have it in me too! The first go around was sooo easy. No, really it was. It was when I really started focusing hard on my food that I lost the mojo. Strange but true. When I lost my first bundle of weight I did not weigh myself. My clothing sizes went down, but I didn't think about that much and I just kept on plan because I had to for my health. I still need to for my health! I still want to feel good. So I think you are spot on! I need to know what feels good, what tastes good (because processed, sugary food does not!) and what I like and I will be fine.

Heather, isn't it so nice when you feel empowered because you find your way?! I love it!

Nita, you will be pleased to know that I am back on my veggies! I missed them too much!

Rob, I would adopt every dog and cat if I could. But I also love the hubby and want to make sure he is on board too! After watching our furry friend my husband seems more inclined to getting a pup. We would never buy one, we would definitely head to the SPCA to find our new family member. I will keep you up to date on how the process goes. My DH can be one stubborn guy!

It was so nice visiting! Have a wonderful afternoon!

Mab - You're right, of course. Your husband needs to be on board about adopting a dog. They are a lot of responsibilty and work. Think about it being 10 p.m. and it's 10 degrees outside (or 95). The dog needs to be tahen out. no choice. Tiredness, sickness are no excuses. Cats on the other hand are more independent. TGIF and have a good weekend!

mab- i think you have hit it on the nose! i'm glad you know where the focus goes to make it easier for yourself, and way less stress than scale-obsessing anywho! you go, girl!

rob, your dog walk example makes me think of my dad...he constructed a "doggie door" in the floor of his home and made a little ramp under the house to an outside dog run area, so their pooch can go outside to do her business without getting out himself! i guess he tells her it's time to go out, and she does...i thought that was ingenious, myself, and was glad to hear it, because they are getting up on, so whatever they can do to make things easier for themsevles, i'm glad to hear...

Dixie - That sounds like a nice setup! When i stay at my sister's overnight I am so happy in the morning when I can just open the back door and let the pooches out into the fenced in yard. so much easier than having to leash and walk them.

Mab - sorry to hijack your journal. LOL Hope you're still doing well! Have a great sunday!

Sorry about that! Whew! Work got v. busy. That is when I usually post, during my lunch break. Wasn't having but a few minutes to eat the last two weeks.

Things have been hectic but good! Just to update - I have not lost any more weight and I was not concentrating! But on the good side, I have not gained any weight and I feel like time is freeing up so I can get organized and down to business!

I have been reading inspirational material each morning to get me excited about being healthy! Good Housekeeping had a wonderful set of articles (from like Feb. that I am just getting to) about people who have lost weight, how they did it and what keeps them going. I always enjoy those!

So I am going to drop into everyone's journal and say hi. I have missed my friends!
