Hope you're feeling better, Nicola. I've found that with doing lc, I don't get as sick as I used to. Colds aren't nearly as bad, and I get a lot fewer colds, too, and they don't last as long, either.

Enjoy the soup!

Yeah, I'm with Nita. I do find that I'm sick less often and for a shorter period.
I have absolutely NO acid reflux at night when I'm LC as well. That's a biggie for me.

Tom, Nita,

I would agree with that also. Even though this cold is a pain in my b....., it's not near as bad as the ones I use to get. And I do feel better when I stick to the LC. Never have had a problem with acid reflux, the only problem I notice with LC is leg cramps. But then I start taking potasium and the problems go away.

And it was a bad girl today. We went up to the local club for spaghetti dinner, (I was just going to eat the meat balls) but they decided to make lasagna instead. So I broke down and had a piece. I did pass up the garlic bread though.

Hope you both have a good evening!

Nicola, something I tried last night, and I think it helped - if you have a cough or congestion, the old wives' tale is to put Vicks on the bottoms of your feet and put on socks before you go to bed. It's supposed to stop a cough within an hour. I don't have a cough, but I do have a stuffy head, post nasal drip type thing, and every morning I have to really blow my nose. I did the Vicks thing last night, and slept pretty well, and could breathe easier this morning. Could have been a fluke, a placebo effect, or it could have really worked. Anyway, I woke up with nice soft feet!

Another cough remedy that I know works - mix 1/4 tsp each of ground ginger and cayenne pepper in a small glass or cup, add enough water to mix so you can drink it down. Drink it right down. You'll feel your throat warming nicely, and it will cut the cough. If it makes your mouth too hot, just rinse well afterward. Don't drink down any water or you'll dilute the effects of the "medicine". I've done this myself, and it does work! You get the health benefits of the ginger and cayenne and no side effects!

Have a great Thursday!

Nita, I think that I've heard that somewhere before about the Vicks. I just may try that, let you know how it works. I haven't been coughing to much, but hacking up that darn flim. If that doesn't work then I will gladly try the ginger and cayenne. Now I love hot stuff so that wouldn't be a problem.

So far today I've managed to behave myself. Didn't eat any lunch so I unthawed some more soup as soon as I got home. It's really kinda chilly here today, my heat is even on, a rarity in my home. I'm usually always hot and the air is usually on. Will be on the warmer side tomorrow though. Maybe I can start raking the yard again.

Nicola, just keep eating that soup and drinking the liquids, it will help thin the mucus so you can deal with it easier, especially if you're running the heat or ac, both of which will dry your nasal passages.

I hope you feel better for the weekend, and have a lovely one.

Well I do feel better today, but then it's Friday, always a good day for me even though I have to work tomorrow. I will probably have a very busy weekend. I have to get these darn leaves raked up. I think I will save some money and get some some cut down. I have 5 oaks in my front yard and they are a big headache to me. Pretty, but to hard to keep up with. Nowadays the insurance company's here don't like to see them hanging anywhere over your house, been know to cancel your policy if you don't trim them back.

Have a great weekend!

DO NOT TOP off your trees. It turns them into a big huge shrubbery. Dam ugly. If you're gonna do that, just take them out.

Tom, I was thinking more about cutting off all limbs hanging over the house, I do have one in the side yard that I just want to take down. My neighbors also have some hanging over my driveway in the back, but they are handing right over the electrical lines, so Iwould like those limbs cut off, at least what is hanging over the fence line. I'd love to just take them all down but cost too much money. Anyway I have a while to think about it, because I haave to save the money first.

Hi Tom, My weekend was OK, I guess. I started raking my leaves, only got half the front yard done and already filled up the big dumpster in the alley. Guess I will finish the other half sometime this week. That's ok because it's a pain in the a... need a rest after what I already got done. I worked 7 hours Sat. The highlight of my day was watching the Bud Shootout. My BF and I are big Nascar fans. Can't wait until Sunday when racing gets under way. We usually don't go to the 500 but will go to Daytona on July 4th weekend for that race. Can't wait.

I am going to try to get out to the garage and get on my treadmill tonight. I've been kinda lazy lately, and need to just get motivated. Always have much better results with lc when I at least get sometype of a workout.

Have a good evening!

I live in a desert and no trees in my yards. I have to put up a front fence again someday. I get all the leaves from everybody elses trees.

Back at my mothers place the local city comes around with big vacuum trucks to pick up the leaves that owners put in piles at the curb. Do they do that in your area?

Have a great week.

Tom, As far as I know they don't have anything like that here. I used to bag up the leaves, not any more, just too much work, just fill my large garbage container and throw them in the dumpster. We have a city truck that comes around and sweeps the road, that's it. My neighbors all do pretty much what I do.

I don't think it will be a great week, I am so overwhelmed at work right now, and it's starting to get so stressfull. There are two gals out sick for 2 weeks now and everyone comes to me needing this, can't find it, or just don't know how. We have so much work that they have other departments helping out also and I have to take care of them to, so I am being torn in different directions all day long. It's really hard for one person to take care of everything. By the time I get home I just am exhausted. I turned on my computer last night, got to this site and decided I needed to lay down for a while instead. I sat on the couch, woke up about 4 hours later and went to bed. Just not a good day. Hope today is better.

I hope today is better for you.
Yesterday ended pretty rotten for me too.

Remember, find something non-food related to "comfort" you today.
