    Default Tom's year of success-2009

I'm starting my 2009 Journal with my LCE Family.

2008 finished up with many successes in my personal & emotional sides. My physical side set the bar for how far I could push the envelope in the other direction. I've nearly undone all my LC work of past years.

2009 is the year I will take charge of my physical side as well.
For me it will be key to increase my activity levels. That will include the gym and doing stuff around the house. There is so much to be done to clean up around here.
I'm commiting to some type of formal exercise (gym) at least 2 times a week. I'm committing to get even closer to the #10 relationship with myself and my wife. I'm committing to put forth the effort to be the leader I know I can be in my proffessional life.
    The Topper...

I Commit to HAVING FUN doing all that.

    Happy 2009!

    Tom

Another day is here!!! It has been cold in the mornings. Liz made us some BuckWheat cereal. Plenty of fiber. I spent the day cleaning up the side of the house and getting my trailer ready for the next trip. Got all kinds of stuff accomplished yesterday. I plan on continuing that forward progress today. It is nice to clean up and have it stay clean. Liz is still a little under the weather. Since she smokes, any little cold goes right into her chest.
Next weekend we are headed down to Parker, AZ for a motorcycle race. Not sure if we will camp or get a hotel room.

    Off to the to-do list...

    Off and running for 2009.
I'm down 5 pounds from what I weighed in at on New Years Day. I've been busy busy busy around the house. Nw that TJ is out of the house we are making progress on cleaning the place up. "How do you eat and elephant? One bit at a time." I got some things packed into the toy-hauler for my upcoming weekend trips for the races. We found out yesterday, there was a cancellation at the hotel hosting the race in Parker this weekend. We got a free room for both nights.

Last night I picked up a bunch of goodies for my truck. I'm hoping to get the important stuff installed this week.

Update on TJ... He is living at a half-way house for young homeless. They are helping him find a job. He is warm, safe and fed. Cyndi is keeping in between us and him. He really needs to find out he can make decisions without mom or dad.
Liz is doing well this time around. Seems like as long as she knows he is safe and sound she is good with that.

I haven't eaten very much over the last 4 days. In fact we only ate out once that I can recall. that was at a small taco shop. We are working on using up some of the stores we have in the freezer. For the two of us we could live for 2 months on whats in our freezer.

Dinner last night- 1 small Chicken pot pie (not LC, using up the freezer stuff)
    BF today- 2 HB eggs.
Planned lunch- leftover turkey and salad.

Tom, perhaps TJ will do better now that he's hit bottom but has someone outside the household to guide him. It's just hard, sometimes, for us as parents to give advice and direction to our kids because we are too emotionally involved. It's often better to just stand back and hand over the job to others who are probably more qualified than we are, anyway. Sometimes love means stepping back, butting out, turning our back, letting them make their own way. Cutting the apron strings. Etc. He'll do fine. Just you watch!

WTG on the 5 lbs! Keep it up!

I don't think TJ has ever truely hit bottom. He was recued at the bus station and is now in a half-way house. He stopped by the house yesterday. Liz was very good about it and sent him packing. My concerns are twofold, TJ & liz. She has deep issues with cutting that apron string. She is torn inside between letting her baby grow up and her maternal insticts to be a mom. I'm being supportive of her and staying clear of him. If he shows some progess in the next couple weeks, I'll invite him to camp out with me for the weekend of our clubs motorcycle race. He loves it and he is one of the most productive members.

I wasn't very LC at last nights retirement party. I kept the intake low at least. Had 1 Ale and a very small amount of pasta and then some chicken wings.
    BF- 2 HB again
    Planned lunch- Burger and salad
Dinner? Gonna be busy working on the truck. I'll leave it up to Liz to figure something out quick.

    Hi Tom,

Looks like this is going to work.

I think most mothers have some trouble cutting those strings, no matter what they are always our babies. Sometimes they have to learn some pretty hard lessons before they truely understand what they put us through and also that they need to grow up and stand on their own. Hopefully TJ is ready and you will see some positive changes in the near future.

Congrats on the 5 lbs lost.

    Happy Wednesday!
Went to the dentist yesterday for a check up and cleaning. Now I'm going back in 2 weeks to repair the tooth the hygenist popped a chunk off.

I did some tinkering on the truck last night. I'm doing experiments to increase the fuel economy. We'll be giving a good test with the trip to AZ this weekend.

Last night I had Vegitable Beef soup and Liver & onions for dinner.
BF today- 2 HB eggs and 3 bf sausages.

I watched part of the the Larry King show last night about Oprah. They were talking with the Greene guy. Some very interesting stuff. Too bad I didn't watch the whole thing. It's a guy thing with the remote and commercials.

Oh no, I hate when that happens. I think they should repair it for free after they do that crap. That reminds me I have an appointment my dentist next week. Not something I look forward to.

Good luck with the fuel economy, hope you come up with something that works, maybe you can share it with the rest of us.

Fuel economy - hmmmmmm - you could let TJ push the truck part of the way....... up the hills, then let it coast down the hills. That should work!

Sorry about the tooth. Hope it gets fixed right the first time.

The tooth feels fine. I think it has been cracked for some time.
We leave for our trip this afternoon. Liz has been getting stuff packed. Only have to throw some fuel in the truck, ice chests and clothes and we are off.
I slipped on LC last night. Liz wanted Del Taco. I made sure to put the Extra Hot sauce on my stuff. That helps move things a little quicker thru the system. Hopefully reducing the amount of absorption. Sounds good in theory.

We are bringing all LC foods for the trip. No carbs. Not even LC breads. I'll do rollups for lunch.
I haven't made the gym this week. I've been making sure to do more walking around the plant and also using the dumbells in my office.

    Well, Off to the races...

We had a wonderful weekend. It was windy & cool during the race, Saturday. It qwarmed up later and Sunday was nice. We came back to Vegas via Lake Havasu. Liz was happy. We stopped at a swap meet & then the local Walmart. That cost us about $200. What is it about women and shopping?
The truck got a 20% increase in MPG. I'm very satisfied with that.
Now it's time for me to prepare for my 3-day camping off-roading trips this weekend and the following weekend for my clubs races.

I ate LC for most of the time. Sitting still in the truck all day generates a fair amount of snacking.

    I'm off to work...

That darn Walmart store will get you every time. Lately I've tried to stay out of there, and save some cash.

20% increase in gas! Good going Tom. Whatever you did, don't advertise too much or we'll all be bringing our vehicles to you to work on.

We spend 1/2 of it at Walmat and the other 1/2 at the swap meet. I'll be hitting the SW on my next trip to pick up some stuff for my daughter.
The 20% increase in fuel mileage was by doing some trickery on my DIESEL truck. The EPA had Dodge put a bunch of crap on that did nothing for clean air. It sure did alot for burning up extra fuel for nothing.
We went out last night assembling materials to rebuild our closet shelves and poles. The other day the whole system crashed. I hope to install the new heavy duty stuff tonight.
I ate all LC yesterday until diiner. We ate at Quiznos. That bread was the only carbs all day.
Yeah I know it was Baaaad carbs.
This week is chock full of activity getting ready to camp for the weekend out at the race course. The weather is beautiful. Temps are rising and should make for a nice weekend.
Liz is under the weather some. Now she is all tense in her neck muscles. Interesting how this stuff happens withing a couple weeks after "her baby" is out of the house.
Been here before. I just have to be patient this time and let her work through it.

    Have a Great Day!

    Tom
